You are the department head and operational leader of an ambulatory health clinic that is a subsidiary of a large health system. The CEO of your health organization comes to your office and states that she is not happy with the efficiency of the new ambulatory clinic she does not believe that the new clinic is being effective. She wants you to devise a plan of correction.

View the video Understanding Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining below . In this video, At the time of this interview on “CEO Exchange”, Don Carty was CEO of American Airlines. In this clip he expresses the frustration that many executives in a union environment face, labor costs. This video was prior to Carty’s being fired from his position at American Airlines for announcing executive retention bonuses within hours of convincing union members to wage and benefit concessions in order to save the airline from bankruptcy. Carty currently serves as CEO of Dell, Inc.

Imagine you are a senior systems administrator who has been tasked with considering whether or not to implement server virtualization into your organization’s computing operations of multiple sites with a server count of more than 400.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:

1. Specify the most significant advantages and disadvantages that could be realized by the organization in adopting a server virtualization infrastructure.
2. Prepare a plan for implementing Hyper-V (or an alternate solution, such as VMware) as a solution for your organization. Provide a rationale for the plan decisions.

Assignment 1: Set up basic pneumatic circuits [30 marks]

Problem description:
Consider the following pneumatic press system. The system start by pushing the start button and for safety reason, other requirements are needed to start (Refer to table below). The activation of each of the remaining actuators is done automatically. A linear actuator “A” is used to transport the solid material “SM” below the press. Two linear actuators “B” and “C” are used to clamp the solid material “SM”. Actuator “D” is used as a press. Sa0, Sa1, Sb0, Sb1, Sc0, Sc1, Sd0, Sd1 are mechanically operated rollers.
The weight of SM is 50 kg, the friction factor in sliding area in front of actuator “A” is 0.3. The clamp will require a 10 kN force and the press D will require a force of 15 kN to compress “SM”.
Calculate the pressure needed by each actuator and cylinder diameters to achieve the required function. Show calculations.
Select as many as needed pressure relief valves based on 110% pressure limit.
Design a pneumatic circuit with logic and sequential elements that fulfills all the safety and functional requirements.
Use Autocad to draw the pneumatic circuit.

Students will create a consultancy plan that helps Mike, Ethan and Daisy run the business, both day-to-day and over the long term (strategically).  Be succinct in your writing but persuasive so that the recommendations will have positive outcomes for the business.

• In creating the consultancy report, students will first assess the business and identify specific areas of strengths and weaknesses of the business as it relates to the components of the P-O-L-C.  In completing this section, do not create a heading for each element of the P-O-L-C but write from the perspective of the consultant discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the business;
• Select  a management style (class hierarchy, democratic hierarchy, collaborative management or collective management) and explain why the selected model is most appropriate for Outdoor Adventure Paintball Park;
• Develop roles and responsibility of the owners and employees (Be creative in completing this task);
• Discuss why these positions are necessary to the business;

• Make specific recommendations for improving the management of Outdoor Adventure Paintball Park.  Cover all aspects of the P-O-L-C.  This area of the paper specifically addresses the areas of strengths and weaknesses identified above and puts in place a plan for the short and long –term success of the business;
• Create a balanced scorecard that will help Outdoor Adventure Paintball Park align its business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improves communication and monitors performance against goals;
• Students are expected to show what they have learned in the course by applying theories and concepts.  Be sure to support your reasoning.

 

Required Formatting of Management:

 

• The management plan should be in APA format, 12-point font, and between 6-8 pages (full pages are expected and 5.5 pages does not count as 6 pages) in length excluding the title page , abstract page and reference page.  Include full APA including an abstract, headers, and page numbers. Make sure all references are listed with an author name and date.  Remember that the text, websites, dictionaries and encyclopedias do not count as references, nor do references dated prior to 2000.  You may use them and list them but they will not count toward required reference count. Eight references are required.

• Title page with your name, the course name, the date, and the instructor’s name:
• An abstract, introductory paragraph, a summary paragraph and the use of headings are required; (they should be labeled)
• Use APA formatting for in-text citations and reference page.  You are expected to paraphrase and not use quotes other than in identifying the mission statement and vision statement.
• Write in the third person.
• You are expected to use several theories by name and concepts by name, applied to the case. Feel free to use a graphic to demonstrate how they work together. This is critical so that the paper will not be generic but specific to the exact material used in class .
