“Arkansas is in the basement in the ranking of knowledge and education and 47th in planning and daily habits.”…. Children, especially, may be learning money habits by observing parents.

“You are teaching children about money because they are watching you, even if you don’t say anything,” Foster said. “They observe positive or negative behavior.”

Through partnerships with CCOA, the Arkansas State Securities Department and Economics Arkansas, the workshops have been offered to students and adults, ….“We are providing resources people need to make the best informed decisions,”

Economics Arkansas encourages teachers to develop programs to increase K-12 economic literacy and wise decision-making of Arkansas students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The research indicates the financially savvy tend to take on less credit card debt and pay balances off each month. They’re more likely to refinance a mortgage when it is profitable to do so, are less likely to fall prey to high-cost debt like payday loans and are more likely to plan for retirement.

Identify the missing internal control characteristic in each situation.

Case Study 2

Due by Sunday of Week 5, 11:59 p.m.,
Mountain time
(Learning Objectives 2, 4: Explain
the components of internal control; evaluate internal controls) Each of the
following situations reveals an internal control weakness:

Situation a. In evaluating the internal control over inventory for the
Williams Oil Services Company, an auditor learns that the warehouse receiving
clerk is responsible for ordering parts for
supply inventory use in drilling services, counts the inventory when received
at the dock, records the receipts into the inventory ledger, and takes the
annual inventory,  No supervisor reviews
the receiving clerk’s work.

Situation b. Nicole Lopez handles employee travel and expense reports
for Scott Sales Services. With the growth in the economy, the sales team began
traveling extensively gaining new business.
Because of the heavy volume, she no longer required the sales team to
provide original airline, hotel, or car rental receipts.  She told them to just keep their meals under
the $100 per day per diem and no receipts were required. She allowed them to
use their own credit cards so they could get the frequent flyer points. She
required them to turn in a summary of the travel expenses quarterly.

Situation c. Michael Jordon is a new employee hired from Craig’s List
recommended by a co-worker.  Mike was
hired as a Human Resource Assistant. Mike’s first day on the job he is told
that he should follow his own judgments when deciding how employee issues such
as hiring and firing of employees, sexual harassment, and ethical infractions
should be handled.

A quality
paper will meet or exceed all of the above requirements.

Identify and explain a plausible reason someone might give that would oppose or challenge the position you have taken and be sure to clearly explain why you think it would oppose or challenge it.

lease read these assignment instructions before writing your paper, and re-read them often during and after the writing process to make sure that you are fulfilling all of the instructions. Please also utilize the assignment guidance, the modeled example, and the outline provided.

Overview

The following assignment is an exercise designed to help you begin the process of addressing a moral issue, a process that will continue in the next two assignments. In this exercise, you will do the following:

Formulate an ethical question within one of the given topic areas from the list provided.

Provide an introduction in which you briefly explain the topic and the particular question on which you will focus your paper.

State your position on the question at issue.

Identify one consideration that would support your position and one consideration that would challenge it.

Gender and Equality (Topic Choice)

· Sexual harassment in the workplace

· Equal pay for equal work

· Hiring discrimination

· Portrayals of men and women in the media or advertising

· The difference that feminine approaches might make to a specific ethical issue

Instructions

The exercise must be at least 500 words in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the . Be sure to include a title page and, if you include references, a bibliography. The exercise should be in outline (not essay) format, with each part labeled and numbered as specified below.

1.

1. Part One: Formulate the Question

Read through the list of available topic areas, and select a topic on which you would like to write your next two papers. Formulate a specific, concrete, ethical question pertaining to that topic, and place that at the top of your paper.

The question should be specific enough to discuss in six to eight pages (which is the length of the Final Paper assignment). For example, if you were interested in discussing the topic of capital punishment, a question like “Is capital punishment wrong?” would be too vague, and would need to be reformulated as a more specific question, such as “Should we execute people convicted of first degree murder?” or “Is it just to use capital punishment when there is the possibility of executing innocent persons?” or “Is the capital punishment system racist?”

1.

1. Part Two: Provide a Brief Introduction to the Topic

Your introduction should focus on setting out the topic and scope of the discussion in a way that clearly establishes what exactly you will be talking about and why it is significant. It should also provide any necessary context such as the background, current state of affairs, definitions of key terms, and so on. You want to try to do this in a way that stays as neutral as possible, avoids controversial assumptions, rhetorical questions, and the like. In other words, you should try to construct an introduction to the topic that could be an introduction to a paper defending any position on the question at issue.

It is important for your introduction to narrow down the topic as much as possible. Doing so will allow you to provide a more detailed consideration of the issues and explain the reasoning more clearly in later papers. In general, arguments and analyses are much stronger when they focus on addressing a particular issue thoroughly and in detail, and doing so often requires deciding on one particular question or point to discuss, and leaving other possible ones aside.

You should label this section of your paper as “Introduction.”

1.

1. Part Three: Provide a Position Statement

State clearly and precisely the position you intend to defend on the question you have formulated. This does not need to be more than one sentence.

Note that providing a position statement does not necessarily presume that you are confident in your position, that other positions do not have merit, or that you cannot change your mind later. However, for now, it is important to at least tentatively take a stand on a position you believe to be better supported than others.

Label this section as “Position Statement.”

1.

1. Part Four: Identify and Explain a Supporting Reason

Identify and explain a plausible reason someone could give that supports the position you have taken and be sure to clearly explain why you think it supports that position. The explanation should aim to be three to five sentences (shorter explanations are possible, but will likely be inadequate; longer explanations are likely to be too verbose).

Label this section as “Supporting Reason.”

1. Part Five: Identify and Explain an Opposing Reason

Identify and explain a plausible reason someone might give that would oppose or challenge the position you have taken and be sure to clearly explain why you think it would oppose or challenge it. The explanation should aim to be three to five sentences (shorter explanations are possible, but will likely be inadequate; longer explanations are likely to be too verbose). You should strive to articulate that reason in a way that someone defending a contrary position to your own would do. This requires stepping back from your own position and being able to think about the problem as objectively as you can. You should not attempt to respond to this opposing reason.

Label this section as “Opposing Reason.”

Explain briefly why you find each of these appealing to include in this assignment.

Part 2. (4%) In Part 1 of your project, you chose a theme to explore.

Now, for Part 2 of the project, you should identify three expressions of the theme in different humanities disciplines (visual art, music, dance, poetry, prose, theater, film). (You will discuss these your final essay.)

•Find good representations (a good-quality image, recording, video, etc.).
•Identify the source
•Explain briefly why you find each of these appealing to include in this assignment.
THIS IS WHAT YOU DID FOR PART 1

(Topic: How education is shaping social inequality
There are several reasons that have made me to choose this topic. Education is believed to be imperative in today’s world yet it is one of the major factors that seem to broaden the gaps of social inequalities, therefore, I believe it will be paramount to conduct a study that will seek to evaluate ways in which education is seen to be one of the contributing factors to social inequality.)

The Board of Directors has reviewed the update on the progress of the project to plan, organize, and deliver the Annual Convention.

The Board of Directors has reviewed the update on the progress of the project to plan, organize, and deliver the Annual Convention. They are very pleased with the progress made towards delivering this very important event. The Marketing Manager now believes there could be as many as 2,000 people attending the convention. They have asked you, as the Project Manager, to revise your Project Plan and update your data accordingly

For this assignment update the documents listed below to reflect having 2,000 people attend the convention rather than the first estimate of 1,000.

Cost Estimate Work Sheet

Failure Mode and Effect Analysis Worksheet

Contingency Report

Based on this updated data write a paper that is a minimum of 2 pages long summarizing how the increased number of attendees could threaten the probability of delivering a successful convention. If there are sections of the original project plan that can’t accommodate the increased number of attendees make sure to illustrate what needs to be updated in this version of the project plan to make up for the oversights in the original plan. This paper will be presented to the Board of Directors so make sure to use appropriate, audience-specific tone and vocabulary that is appropriate for addressing upper management.

Your submission should follow the essentials of APA (i.e., cover page, double-spaced, 12 pt. font, reference section at the end, in-text citations, etc.). For more information on APA

Discuss what are some examples of variables that you might want to check using the chi-square tests.

Many people do not “like” or “trust” single point estimates for things they need measured.  Looking back at the data examples you have provided in the previous discussion questions on this issue, how might adding confidence intervals help managers accept the results better?  Why?

Ask a manager in your organization if they would prefer a single point estimate or a range for important measures, and why?  Please share what they say.

2)   Chi-square tests are great to show if distributions differ or if two variables interact in producing outcomes.  What are some examples of variables that you might want to check using the chi-square tests?  What would these results tell you?
