Examine a media product or practice, situate it within society.

Research paper:
The research paper for this course asks you to analyze a media product, a media practice or a mediascape. While students are encouraged to first consider local and regional media, national and global media are also acceptable. Your research paper will examine interrelationships between media and social structures and will identify critical factors within these relations. A critical part of the research is your assessment of how social influence and social impact are found within the topic you have selected. You are strongly encouraged to select an example that you are most interested in.

Your paper should be typed and double-spaced in 12-point, Times New Roman font and in either APA or ASA format. The title page, abstract and bibliography is due Wednesday November 18th. The 8-10 page paper (excluding title page, abstract and bibliography). The paper should be organized in the following way:

Title page
Includes title of essay, your name, and name of course

Abstract
Following the title page, include a 100-word abstract and five key words related to the essay.

Introduction
Provide an explanation of the example that you have researched. What question do you seek to explore in your research? Explain to the reader why they should be interested in your research, and provide the reader with an outline of the paper.

Context
To first examine a media product or practice, situate it within society. Where is it found? How did you become aware of it? How has it developed over time? Why is it significant? Discuss previous sociological research that has examined this topic.

Social Influence on Media
Describe how individuals and social structures have influenced the media product or practice that you have chosen to study. What groups or individuals are most influential in producing and consuming it? What policies and technologies have influenced it? How has this changed over time? What is the significance of current influences on this media?

Media’s Social Impact
Describe the social impact of the media topic that you have researched. Who does it impact? How does it affect them? What is the sociological significance of this outcome?

Conclusion
Discuss the significance of your research findings and analysis. Suggest directions for future research.

Explain a company description an industry analysis.

A draft of your business plan to date must be completed by the end of Week 4. It should include the following.
a company description
an industry analysis
a market analysis (for your target market)
a marketing and sales plan.

You have to be more specific about your sales plan. Where/how did you come up with $110,000 in sales? That is not 75% of your target market. Please revise these assumption in the Draft of your Plan, this week. You might use the course text to guide you rather than other cited sources.

Examine how these three negative impacts changed the environment; list the mechanisms through which this happened.

Revolution

The Industrial Revolution, which began in the eighteenth century, has had an ongoing influence on society as well as the relationship between humans and their environment. With the onset of industrialization came the drastic increase in urbanization, setting up of factories in places which were once biomes, and the rapid development of land. All this occurred without assessing the long-term impact to the environment. Recognizing the importance of the Industrial Revolution era and the ongoing impact it has had on the environment is essential to learning how to help the environment and correct the damage of that era.

Using the readings for this module, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, complete the following:

  • Identify three of the most environmentally negative impacts of the Industrial Revolution and justify your choices. For example, the invention of the automobile revolutionized travel in a positive manner. However, this invention is causing some of the biggest environmental problems as a result of the extensive use of oil extracted from the earth.
  • Examine how these three negative impacts changed the environment; list the mechanisms through which this happened. For example, factories caused an increase in pollution through the release of toxic waste, which led to diminished and lost fish populations in rivers.
  • Explain the effect of the environmental movement on the process of industrialization in the United States during the 1970s.
  • Identify the laws passed to help ameliorate the environmental issues in the U.S. or around the world related to these three impacts. Have any laws been passed since this movement in the 1970s? If there have been laws implemented, summarize the spirit of the law and comment on the effectiveness of the law.
  • Based on your research, examine whether the state of the environment has become worse or has improved as a result of these laws. Suggest steps to improve the environmental situation.

Support your statements with appropriate examples and scholarly references. Be sure to include an additional page for references.

Write a 4–5-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M1_A3.doc. For example, if your name is John Smith, y

Question 2

Identify and describe the various components that must be considered when scheduling training.

Your response should be at least 200 words in length.

Describe the effect each movement had on society.

Select three social movements you believe significantly affect public opinion on gender issues.

Write a 1000- to 1,400-word paper to explain the effects of these movements on gender. Address the following questions:

  • Describe each social movement. What was the social and political environment when the movement occurred?
  • Describe the effect each movement had on society. How did the movement change public opinion on gender issues? What other changes did it bring? What effect, if any, does the movement have on your view of gender in today’s society?

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Briefly summarize your first team meeting to discuss the design project for this course.

Start a “Learning Log” in a spiral, small notebook, or on loose-leaf paper. Do not submit the learning log response with this homework. The entire learning log will be submitted at the end of the semester and will count as a separate homework grade. Throughout the semester, you will be given a prompt for writing in your learning log. The length of these prompts will vary, but all responses should be thoughtful, coherent, and strive to use correct grammar and spelling. For this prompt, a short paragraph should be sufficient. Here’s the prompt:

Learning Log:1:

Reflect on the relationship between design and structural demand. How do you determine the “maximum” load on a structure? Is the “maximum” load always a positive value (consider tension vs. compression, positive vs. negative bending, etc.)? One paragraph

Learning Log 2:

How do the multiple failure paths considered for staggered fasteners relate to ϕ P subscript n calculation?

One paragraph should be fine.  Reflect not just on the variable explanation but also on the concept of multiple failure paths / limit states as a whole.

Learning log 3 :

one paragraph . Describe the difference between designing a member for compression member for tension .Which do your prefer, and why ?

Learning log 4 :

Briefly summarize your first team meeting to discuss the design project for this course.  How do you intend to get started and/or approach the design? One to two paragraphs.

Learning Log #5:

State the principle of superposition in your own words. Why can you use beam shortcuts to fund ultimate moment demand for problem 5.5-4 but not for 5.5-9? One paragraph

Learning Log #6

What was the most confusing part of the beam-column homework? One paragraph

two paragraphs in one page , so three pages

Evaluate the effectiveness of your selected leader’s performance, based on his or her ethical conduct and effective communication.

The 20th and 21st centuries have produced many business leaders, such as corporate giants like Jack Welch of GE, Daymond John of FUBU, Steve Jobs of Apple, and Herb Kelleher of Southwest. In addition, many hip-hop moguls have risen to prominence, such as Sean Combs, aka P Diddy, of Bad Boy Records; Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam; and Sean Carter, aka Jay Z, of Rock Nation.

Regardless of their business models and industries, organizational leaders are expected to create realistic visions for their companies and the people that they guide. However, such visions often result in vastly different leadership styles. Therefore, experts have concluded that there is no one best leadership style geared towards guiding employees and companies to accomplishing organizational goals.

Using the Internet and Strayer databases, research your favorite senior executive (CEO, CFO, COO, Director, President, Founder, etc.) from any organization that has made a strong impact on his or her industry (fashion, music, food, banking, technology, automotive, etc.).

Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:

  1. Describe the overall leadership style(s) of your chosen senior executive.
  2. Analyze the organizational structure and culture of the company your chosen executive has led, or is currently leading, and determine the company’s approach to human capital management and employee development. Next, explain whether or not you believe your chosen senior executive’s leadership approach has enhanced workplace productivity and the shared vision of the organization. Provide one to two (1-2) examples of your chosen senior executive’s actions to support your response.
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of your selected leader’s performance, based on his or her ethical conduct and effective communication. Next, determine whether the chosen leader was successful in motivating and empowering his or her employees and gaining customer loyalty.
  4. Determine three (3) best practices that other organizational leaders can use in order to motivate employees and transform their company, based on practices that you believe made your chosen leader successful at his or her company and within his or her industry. Support your rationale with an explanation of the potential benefits that other business leaders may reap from your chosen best practices.
  5. Use at least five (5) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Explain the multiple aspects of the managerial planning process and the application of various business- and corporate-level strategies.
  • Analyze the importance of ethical behavior to an organization’s culture and the new ethical dilemmas created by globalization.
  • Determine viable organizational structures by addressing the key considerations in organizational structure, applying the process of division of labor, and adapting basic structural formats.
  • Explain the principal theories of leadership and motivation, and describe the fundamental considerations in managing and motivating individual and group behavior.
  • Describe actions to improve communications, manage conflict, develop strong organizational culture, and improve the ethical behavior in organizations.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in management concepts.
  • Write clearly and concisely about management concepts using proper writing mechanics.

Distinguish between short-range (less than five years) and long-range (over five years) effects of the policy.

In this course, you have learned that social policies are formulated to solve social problems considered important by a mass of voters, media, and political actors. Social policy is but one solution to the problem—not necessarily the most rational, effective, or socially just. Social policies are human creations and, as such, can be changed. In this paper you will analyze a social policy as a tool for social justice.

Research one social welfare policy using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet.

Analyze the policy and address the following:

The social problem addressed by the policy

  1. What is/are the problem/s to be solved in the most fundamental terms?
  2. What is the history of the problem/s in the United States?
  3. What are the various theories about the causes of the problem/s? Based on this, what do you think is/are the most important causes/s of the problem/s?

The policy objectives, value premises, expectation, and target populations

  1. Policy objectives—overt and covert objectives: What are the stated objectives of the policy? In your judgment, what are the covert objectives of the policy?
  2. What are the values underlying the policy objectives? What values are revealed by the overt and covert objectives?
  3. What did the policymakers expect would be the result of the policy?
  4. Target segments of the population at whom policy is aimed: Discuss the direct target of the policy in terms of size and other demographic characteristics. Who are the indirect targets of the policy?

Effects of the policy

  1. Intended effects: What effects did the lawmakers intend?
  2. Unintended effects: What effects did the lawmakers not foresee?
  3. Distinguish between short-range (less than five years) and long-range (over five years) effects of the policy.

Implications of the Policy

  1. Changes in the distribution of material resources: Are there any changes to the distribution of material resources, including income and other tangible benefits, as a result of the policy for direct or indirect target groups?
  2. Changes in distribution of services, rights, and statuses: Are there any changes in services, rights, or statuses as a result of the policy?

Alternative Policies

  1. What alternative policy/policies would more effectively address the social problem discussed in the policy analysis while advancing social justice?

Discuss what are laws or regulations are required to hire diversity.

Assignment Two:
Prepare a (3) page essay about the diversity in today’s economy. You will use APA style for this essay. You will use the following questions to write your essay:
1. What is the meaning of diversity and how the organizations are learning?
2. Would this type of information influence your decision about job offers from various firms? Why?
3. What laws or regulations are required to hire diversity?
