Trainer Tip: Get in the right mind-set with this case study. Look at your case study as an opportunity to develop a real-life plan and to have that plan critiqued by leaders in the field. Imagine that this sample client is paying you to get results. Be as detailed as you would need to be when relaying the plan to the client. Also, be sure to tell us why you are making the decisions you are making.

Describe most important items to accomplish in the next month. Again, relate them to project’s Gantt chart.

5. Review the templates for various project documents provided in this chapter. Pick one of them and apply it to a project of your choice. Make suggestions for improving the template.
10-3 Sample template for a monthly progress report I. Accomplishments for January (or appropriate month):
•Describe most important accomplishments. Relate them to project’s Gantt chart.
•Describe other important accomplishments, one bullet for each. If any issues were resolved from the previous month, list them as accomplishments. II. Plans for February (or following month):
•Describe most important items to accomplish in the next month. Again, relate them to project’s Gantt chart.
•Describe other important items to accomplish, one bullet for each. III. Issues: Briefly list important issues that surfaced or are still important. . Write a lessons-learned report for a project of your choice, using the template provided on the companion Web site and the sample in Chapter 3 as guides. Project Name: JWD Consulting Project Management Intranet Site Project Project Sponsor: Joe Fleming Project Manager: Erica Bell Project Dates: May 2–November 4 Final Budget: $150,000 1. Did the project meet scope, time, and cost goals? We did meet scope and time goals, but we had to request an additional $10,000, which the sponsor did approve. 2. What were the success criteria listed in the project scope statement? Below is what we put in our project scope statement under project success criteria: “Our goal is to complete this project within six months for no more than $140,000. The project sponsor, Joe Fleming, has emphasized the importance of the project paying for itself within one year after the intranet site is complete. To meet this financial goal, the intranet site must have strong user input. We must also develop a method for capturing the benefits while the intranet site is being developed and tested, and after it is rolled out. If the project takes a little longer to complete or costs a little more than planned, the firm will still view it as a success if it has a good payback and helps promote the firm’s image as an excellent consulting organization.” 3. Reflect on whether you met the project success criteria. As stated above, the sponsor was not too concerned about going over budget as long as the system would have a good payback period and help promote our firm’s image. We have already documented some financial and image benefits of the new intranet site. For example, we have decided that we can staff the PMO with one less person, resulting in substantial cost savings. We have also received excellent feedback from several of our clients about the new intranet site. 4. In terms of managing the project, what were the main lessons your team learned from this project? The main lessons we learned include the following: •Having a good project sponsor was instrumental to project success. We ran into a couple of difficult situations, and Joe was very creative in helping us solve problems. •Teamwork was essential. It really helped to take time for everyone to get to know each other at the kick-off meeting. It was also helpful to develop and follow a team contract. •Good planning paid off in execution. We spent a fair amount of time developing a good project charter, scope statement, WBS, schedules, and so on. Everyone worked together to develop these planning documents, and there was strong buy-in. •Project management software was very helpful throughout the project. 5. Describe one example of what went right on this project. 6. Describe one example of what went wrong on this project. 7. What will you do differently on the next project based on your experience working

Analyze the proficiency levels of the students in Ms. Jensen’s class to place them into appropriate groups.

Hi here are the assignments that I need to get done. They are not worth much, but I have not turned them in. I am willing to pay 50 dollars for all of them.

ELL Proficiency Standards assignment

Using the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELP) from Texas, select a stage (10th grade level) for a group of students you define. Create a content objective and a language objective using the TX College & Career Ready Standards and the ELA Standards for your group of ELLs at the Basic Proficiency Level for each of the following domains:

  1. Listening and Speaking
  2. Reading
  3. Writing

Include a 500-750-word summary below the chart (within the same document) that contains rationales for each of the three domains that describes how the objectives you wrote address the characteristics of a basic ELL level and accounts for the theoretical language acquisition principles mentioned in your required reading.

In this summary, explain how content area teachers can write lesson plans in which all of the standards (ELP and content) support one another and actually provide scaffolding opportunities for students.

Analyze the proficiency levels of the students in Ms. Jensen’s class to place them into appropriate groups.

In a 250-word essay describe how you would group these students for in-class English language arts activities. The essay should include a rationale of placement, citing at least one source from your research to support the placement.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. A title page is not required.

3rd Assignment

From your required reading and other sources, write a 500-750-word persuasive essay to your fellow teachers describing the benefits of strategies that encourage vocabulary development within the pre-production and early production stages of language acquisition. These strategies should transcend all content areas. Describe the Silent Period and how it affects vocabulary development. How could this be accounted for within your teaching?

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide

4th Assignment

Create a graphic organizer, or complete the table attached, to identify and describe oral, reading, and writing strategies appropriate for each ELL proficiency level. You may use strategies from your required readings or your research. Include a justification as to why each strategy is applicable to the specific ELL proficiency label, citing references.

Analyze the variances in the following scenario.

Assignment
Volume, Risk, and Price Variances
Analyze the variances in the following scenario:
You are the nursing administrator for a medical group that expects a severe outbreak of the flu this winter. You hire additional staff to treat the patients and administer shots. Your special project budget was for 1,000 hours of part-time nurses’ services at $40 per hour, for a total cost of $40,000. It was expected that these nurses would administer 400 flu shots and treat 1,600 flu patients. The medical group typically charges $50 for a flu shot and $80 for treating a flu patient. Actually, the group had 1,200 patients who received the flu shot and 1,400 who had the flu and received treatment. On average, it was able to collect $55 per flu shot and $70 per flu patient.

Compute the volume, mix, and price revenue variances. How did things turn out for the group considering just revenues? How did they turn out from a profit perspective? Use the approach from chapter 8 to solve. Clearly label the calculations of the required variances using Excel. Use formulas to calculate the three variances and format the cells to insert a comma if there is more than three numbers and round to the nearest whole number. Explain the meaning of the variances in a two page Word document.

Submit to your instructor your two-to-three page Word document (not including the title and reference pages) and your Excel worksheet. Your paper should be formatted according to APA style, and you must cite at least three scholarly sources.
