Jim, from the Phase 4 Key Assignment, has decided to stay in the 21st century. He has not been able to stay out of trouble and has broken into 2 homes and stolen the following items:

  • The keys to a new car
  • Five hundred dollars in cash
  • An expensive watch

Again, he has come to the attention of the juvenile justice system. In this court, there are 2 opposing factors. The first factor depends upon a purely psychological view. The second factor depends upon a purely sociological view. These 2 factors will argue in court why he fits their reasoning of why he committed the crime.

  • Based on instructor feedback and peer review, revise your Phase 4 Key Assignment accordingly.
  • Next, add to your Key Assignment by addressing the following questions in 500–750 words:

In the year 2100, there was a young man named Jim who could travel through time. This young man has had serious infractions with the juvenile justice system. He has decided to travel back through time to start his life over.

He has a choice of two time periods. One is during the colonial period of America, and the other is during the early 21st century. Knowing Jim’s propensity for finding trouble, what would happen to him if he committed the crime of breaking and entering with the aggravating circumstances of assault during the colonial period? What would happen to him if he committed the same crime in the 21st century? This assignment will cover the history of the juvenile justice system, juvenile courts, and corrections, as well as theories that would be related to Jim and treatment options during both periods of time.

    • What would happen to him if he committed the crime of breaking and entering with the aggravating circumstances of assault during the colonial period? Explain in detail.
      • List the punishments and the reasons for why they are given.
      • List any theories that may be relevant to the topic.

      • List any theories that may be relevant to the topic.

Identify a trend that could influence the development of future operating systems.

As research and business requirements change, operating systems evolve to solve problems unique to those environments. Linus Torvalds developed Linux because he was not satisfied with Tanenbaum’s MINIX. David Cutler developed Windows NT to function much like VMS while Bill Gates had aspirations for NT to replace Unix. These business, personal, and academic influences have all impacted the current operating system landscape.

Using your textbook, credible sources, and your own professional or student experiences, respond to the following:

  • Outline the major influences that led to the development of the modern operating system of your choice. You may select any desktop or mobile operating system you like such as Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Android, or iOS.
  • Identify a trend that could influence the development of future operating systems. Be sure to clarify if the trend impacts desktop, servers, or mobile operating systems. Examples of trends that could conceivably impact future operating systems include wearable devices, such as the Apple Watch, or credit-card-sized computers, such as the Raspberry Pi. Motor learning leads to a relatively permanent change in physical movements and activity of a person.

Assignment 1: Discussion—Motor-Skill Learning

Motor learning leads to a relatively permanent change in physical movements and activity of a person. This type of learning is related to acquiring processes needed for complex movements like speaking or playing the piano, which often start out as very difficult but through practice, they become much smoother and accurate. Additionally, motor-skill learning plays an important role in interpreting simple movements, such as reflexes, as the body and environment change. Therefore, though we may not be completely aware of motor learning as it takes place, it is a vital area of learning that is related to almost everything we do.

Complete the Motor Training Activity at the following link:

Based on the activity, address the following:

  • Discuss your outcome with this activity. What did you learn about motor learning?
  • Based on your readings, identify which theory of motor-skill learning best fits this activity. Why do you consider it to be the best fit?
  • Apply what you have learned during this activity to a real-life learning experience, either for yourself, or for someone you are teaching.

Write your initial response in 2–3 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

By Saturday, December 19, 2015, post your response to the appropriateDiscussion Area. Through Wednesday, December 23, 2015, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses. In your responses, consider the following:

  • Do you agree with your peers’ explanation of the theory that best explains this activity? Why or why not?
  • Do you agree with your peer’s application of motor-skill learning to a real life situation? Is there a way by which you could improve their application of this skill?

Identify and explain the judge and the proceeding that you viewed. Compare the behavior of selected televised judge with the normal expectations of a judge as described in your textbook.

Judge Judy (Sheindlin). The People’s Court. Judge Joe Brown. Judge Greg Mathis. Judge Mabeline Ephraim. Judge Marilyn Milian, Judge Glenda Hatchett. Judge Mills Lane. Judge Maria Lopez. Judge Lynn Toler. Judge Alex Ferrer.

TV Judges are popular. Select ONE popular televised judge and watch at least one televised show during which they preside over the legal matters. These judges also commonly have websites and you should review those as well (for example: http://www.judgejudy.com).

You are REQUIRED to use a minimum of 3 (three) outside sources to support your points in your paper. Make sure you include a proper reference page.

In a 2-3-page paper, and using APA style formatting, analyze the impact that “reality” television has on “real” courtroom proceedings.

  1. Identify and explain the judge and the proceeding that you viewed. Compare the behavior of selected televised judge with the normal expectations of a judge as described in your textbook.
  2. Write down three things that you think you know about the legal system based on your experience watching law related shows and then discuss whether or not your observations are, indeed, true.
  3. In what ways might the popularity of judges such as Judge Judy and others be related to the public desire to be able to see the actual courtroom proceeding?
  4. If people enjoy the entertainment factor or these shows, what damage could result?
  5. How do these shows differ from court TV?
  6. How do you think these shows differ from actual court cases?
  7. How might such television shows influence a potential juror in a case?
  8. Do you think these shows are valuable or damaging to the criminal justice system as it exists? Why?
