How has learning about the topic affected your ideas going into this assignment

For this assignment, you will go to the CSU Online Library and use the Academic Search Complete database to research a topic related to human rights. In addition, once you pick your topic, you may want to do online research to find additional information; however, this is not required.

Here are some examples that that you can use:

prisoner rights,

death penalty,

poverty,

women’s rights, or

LGBT rights

Research your topic and discover the issues. Describe these in a few paragraphs, starting each new response with the question it addresses:

Where is your topic most relevant in 2014?

Who is most affected by the topic?

Apply the sociological perspectives on stratification to explain how social class and stratification affect your topic.

What are some projects in place that will address the problem (suggest one if none exist yet)?

Why did you choose your topic?

How has learning about the topic affected your ideas going into this assignment? Have any of your views changed since learning more about the topic?

You may also use your textbook to pick a different human rights-related topic, if you so choose.

Your response must be a minimum of two pages in length, answering the questions above. Use appropriate APA style and in-text citations and references.

Information about accessing the Blackboard Grading Rubric for this assignment is provided below.

Include the training program overview that you developed in your appendix.

You have acquired a vast knowledge about multiple topics relevant to managers and HR employees. You will apply your learning by presenting an overall HR plan for an organization that you have chosen to work on throughout the course (fictitious or real). This is your opportunity to demonstrate your ability to consider and recommend actions to management on how the organization can be most competitive in the global environment by utilizing the organizations best asset; its human resources.

Development of the Plan

You will come up with a fictitious organization or you can use a real organization that is familiar throughout the course. The end product is a paper that presents a comprehensive HR plan for the organization that includes the concepts that you have learned from the text and outside resources.

Parameters for the organization:

You are free to describe the organization with which you will be associated. You will need to provide some level of detail of your organization. Use your general knowledge, coursework, and research to accomplish this.

  • Even though you are required to provide general organizational details, your primary function is human resources. Analyze based on this premise.
  • Assume that a core group of managers and employees (approximately 250) are already in place.
  • Your organization can produce a product or perform a service.
  • Requirements for the Overview of the organization

Description of what the organization does and organizational structure. Be specific. You may include an organizational chart.

  • How does the organization operate? How are tasks/work projects accomplished?
  • Is the organization domestic or international? Locations?
  • Who are the competitors?
  • What are the factors that you believe are critical to success in this organization?
  • What is the culture like?
  • How is information communicated?
  • Why would people want to work for this organization?

HR Topics that MUST be addressed in the paper

  • Recruitment and Selection: Include the job description and interview questions that you developed in your appendix. A discussion and analysis of why and how you developed these tools must be included in the paper. Best practices based on the research and your text should be discussed.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Include the compensation package that you developed in your appendix. A discussion and analysis of why and how you developed these tools must be included in the paper. Best practices based on the research and your text should be discussed.
  • Performance Management: Include the performance appraisal and management system that you developed in your appendix. A discussion and analysis of why and how you developed these tools must be included in the paper. Best practices based on the research and your text should be discussed.
  • Training Program: Include the training program overview that you developed in your appendix. A discussion and analysis of why and how you developed these tools must be included in the paper. Best practices based on the research and your text should be discussed.
  • Other topics of interest for your plan: This is a free topic area. You can discuss union affiliation, diversity, succession planning, retention, or any topic that we have studied in the course that

Identification of theoretical/behavioral trends that you observe in the business model and organization (week 5)—summarize this, do not merely cut and paste.

Conduct/construct an experiential evaluation/assessment of the business model of your organization (or one with which you are closely familiar) using the business model canvas and related text.

Introduction: Managers who want to improve the effectiveness of their business model and organization, as well as to increase their own ability to manage, use diagnostics/assessments to determine the reality of business effectiveness in comparison to what they originally envisioned. Good feedback contributes to the development of plans to improve business/organizational effectiveness and management performance.

Instructions: Students will write a 2500-3000 word (about 10 pages in the main body) properly formatted APA paper (including a title page and references page, but no abstract) that evaluates/assesses the overall effectiveness of the business model used by your organization. This is the third of three assignments that draws from your association with your organization. The previous two “canvas” assignments flow into this one. Identify one or more of the building blocks from the business model canvas where modification should be recommended. Be careful to avoid bias in determining the issue/problem identified by using the canvas. Do not merely critique, but contribute to your organization’s overall success. This paper should be the culmination of the overall work you have done with the business model canvas so that all the pieces go together.

Your final paper should include:

  • Your business model canvas – Post-It notes discussion/observations (week 2)—summarize this area, but provide the initial canvas.
  • Identification of theoretical/behavioral trends that you observe in the business model and organization (week 5)—summarize this, do not merely cut and paste.
  • Discussion of appropriate theory, metaphors, and frames with which to describe your business model in operation, as well as to identify areas needing improvement and how to get there.
  • Use of the Osterwalder/Pigneur text to evaluate and diagnose your organization’s business model, as well as an integration of the course materials into your writing and consideration.
  • Recommendations for improvements identified using the canvas, theories, and assessment tools used in this course. What are the expected outcomes.
  • Use eight scholarly sources besides our textbook (especially case studies) to undergird your assertions from peer-reviewed literature.
  • Thoroughly familiarize yourself with the assignment specs and ask questions if you are unsure of expectations.

The paper must have at least eight additional scholarly sources in addition to the course textbook. No abstract is necessary, but a title page and references page should be included. Write your paper in third person, even though you are writing about an organization that you are familiar with. To do this, write from the perspective of a scholar who observes and researches about the case. Therefore, first person should be avoided.

Upload your paper (.doc) in the assignment section for grading. Follow the Submissions Guidelines as listed in the Syllabus: The various assignments for this course should be submitted as Word.doc attachments in the Assignment section of our virtual classroom. Do not use macros or automatic referencing in your papers for this course. The auto features usually cause unforeseen problems in format. Plus, part of the evaluation of this paper involves your ability to write using the essentials of the APA style format. Each file OF YOUR WORK should be named in the following manner: Last name–truncated Week Number-Assignment name (abbreviated if necessary)

Describe how you would progress from simply having useful knowledge to the wisdom to make decisions about the information you have found during your database search.

ave you ever gone online to search for a journal article on a specific topic? It is amazing to see the large number of journals that are available in the health care field. When you view the library in its entirety, you are viewing untapped data. Until you actually research for your particular topic, there is little structure. Once you have narrowed it down, you have information and once you apply the information, you have knowledge. Eventually, after thoughtful research and diligent practice, you reach the level of wisdom—knowledge applied in meaningful ways.

Are there areas in your practice that you believe should be more fully explored? The central aims of nursing informatics are to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom. This continuum represents the overarching structure of nursing informatics. In this Assignment, you develop a research question relevant to your practice area and relate how you would work through the progression from data to information, knowledge, and wisdom.

To prepare:

  • Review the information in Figure 6-2 in Nursing Informatics and the Foundation of Knowledge.
  • Develop a clinical question related to your area of practice that you would like to explore.
  • Consider what you currently know about this topic. What additional information would you need to answer the question?
  • Using the continuum of data, information, knowledge, and wisdom, determine how you would go about researching your question.
    • Explore the available databases in the Walden Library. Identify which of these databases you would use to find the information or data you need.
    • Once you have identified useful databases, how would you go about finding the most relevant articles and information?
    • Consider how you would extract the relevant information from the articles.
    • How would you take the information and organize it in a way that was useful? How could you take the step from simply having useful knowledge to gaining wisdom?

To complete:

Write a 3- to 4-page paper that addresses the following:

  • Summarize the question you developed, and then relate how you would work through the four steps of the data, information, knowledge, wisdom continuum. Be specific. Can informatics be used to gain wisdom? Describe how you would progress from simply having useful knowledge to the wisdom to make decisions about the information you have found during your database search.
    • Identify the databases and search words you would use.
    • Relate how you would take the information gleaned and turn it into useable knowledge.

Your paper must also include a title page, an introduction, a summary, and a reference page.
