Even the most superficial of presentations calls for some kind of preparation. An “elevator speech,” which summarizes a topic in minutes, if not seconds, calls for lightning thought and reflexive application of the rhetorical triangle, grammar, outlining, content knowledge, and logic as you are standing there. For more elaborate and considered presentations, you should reflect on your topic and on the implications and potential for your message. If presenting yourself, you want to be seen as a mature professional and in the best light. If presenting discipline-related material, you want to be seen as a mature and reflective professional, who has not only laid out a mechanical and logical outline of the material, but who has linked the material, with meaning, to the audience. For this Individual Project, you will create a sentence outline for a presentation and informally share your ideas for approaching the visual elements of a presentation. Using your thoughts from earlier in the course and your elevator speech ideas, create a sentence outline for a 10-minute presentation about a discipline-related topic in which you propose a small project or professional action to an audience of mid-level executives. The outline should indicate the flow and content for your anticipated presentation. Incorporate an introduction of yourself, and link your background, experience, goals, and education to the topic. Imagine that the audience has not met you or that they do not know you very well. Assume that your own strengths and abilities, including your university studies, will be key and important to the success of your proposal for the project. Be sure the outline reflects solid organization and process. In Unit 4, you will give a final presentation based on this outline, so be sure to provide enough information for future use. Therefore, use a sentence outline format rather than simply jotting down one- or two-word topics. After you complete the outline, add a paragraph or two sharing your initial thought process for determining visual support for your presentation. Consider color choice, font choice, use of white space, layout, and so on. Refer to intellipath, unit resources, and your assigned readings for additional ideas. Please submit your assignment as a single Word document. Purpose of Assignment and Content Development Demonstrates an outstanding use of appropriate, relevant, and compelling content with excellent expression of topic, main idea, and purpose. Demonstrates exemplary knowledge or analysis of human perspectives appropriate to the assignment’s purpose and context. Where applicable, graphics accurately reflect the assignment requirements. 30% Organization, Grammar and Presentation Organization is clear. Language clearly and effectively communicates ideas and content relevant to the assignment. Presentation and delivery are confident and persuasive (where applicable). Audience, style, tone, and perspective are consistent and appropriate to assignment. Few if any errors in grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. 30% Information Literacy and Research Demonstrates outstanding selection and use of high-quality, credible, and relevant sources to develop ideas that are appropriate to the assignment. Where applicable, sources are consistently cited. 5% Critical Thinking Demonstrates outstanding or exemplary ability to analyze assumptions and evaluate evidence, complexities of issues, and alternatives. Where required, demonstrates outstanding or exemplary ability to use creativity and originality in problem solving. 35%

  • Create presentation in PowerPoint format.

Compare and contrast it with your process flowchart by identifying major elements included in one that are not included in the other.

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation that includes, on a single slide, a flowchart of the procurement management process. Include in your flowchart at least six process steps starting with the identification of what services and items are needed by the Project Manager and ending with the confirmation by the Project Manager that the items and services required for the project have been received.  After the slide on which the overall flowchart is presented, provide a single slide for each process step identified in the flowchart.  For example, a flowchart containing six process steps should be followed by six process slides, each of which describes one of the six process steps in the flowchart.

Provide examples of what will take place in each process step from Your Selected Course Project (refer to the Week 1 Introduction for an explanation of Your Selected Course Project).

Find a Project Procurement Management Plan example or template on the Internet.  Compare and contrast it with your process flowchart by identifying major elements included in one that are not included in the other.  Provide one slide of bullets and speaker notes reflecting on your comparative analysis.

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as “speaker notes” (at least 100 words) for each slide other than the Cover, Agenda, Conclusion, and References slides.

The required length of the PowerPoint presentation option for this assignment is 11-16 slides.

The presentation must include Cover, Agenda, Conclusion, and References slides, as well as a Flowchart slide and slides for each of the process steps identified on the Flowchart slide. Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style.

Save the file as a PPT file with the correct course code information in the name.
