The focus this week is anxiety disorders – the most common mental illness and one that often goes undiagnosed for quite a while because often people see it more as a Type A personality or that the individual is simply a worrier. Individuals who do get help/treatment, often say they feel like they are no longer carrying the weight of the world around with them and they wish they had reached out sooner.

I think this speaks again to the importance of raising awareness of mental illness and the role nurse can play in health promotion.
