The response must be of a substantive nature, and not just “I agree”. This is the on-line version of class participation. Students are expected to participate, so be on time with your postings. Everyone in the course should receive feedback so please diversify your responses each week.

Response 1: Ethical decision making in public administration has a future that may almost seem like its past to create trust in the government. Henry states a revolution may be needed to cope with government’s most egregious and destructive form of unethical behavior, corruption, a suppurating public pustule that inspired the founding public administration itself. (Henry, 2017, p. 506) Public administration’s decision making is needs to come from an ethical standpoint where the decisions serve a greater purpose for citizens and organizations. The future of ethical decision making in public administration is to build trust in the public and non-profit sectors. Ethics are important for good government because it creates trust and esteem for the view the public has on the government. As Henry mentions there are two qualities that are vital to ethical- and effective- governing. Public trust in government, and popular esteem for those who govern. (Henry, 2017, p. 507)Public trust in government allows the public to be assured that government is going to make informed and ethical decisions. Which in turn allows the public administration to implement the decisions made through the government’s decisions. Henry identifies that aside from legislating ethical behaviors for the current president, increasing public administration’ compensation would be a start. (Henry, 2017, p. 507) The increase of compensation of public administrators would create a climb in social status giving the public administrators away to gain more trust in the decision-making process in government affairs. Henry, N. (2017). Public Administration and Public Affairs. New York: Routledge.

Response 2: The future of ethical decision-making in public administration includes consideration of the changing landscape, like the increasing use of technology to foster improved processes in public administration and enhanced globalization (Henry, 2017). As a result, ethical decision- making involves understanding the different nuances and perspectives that enable improved societal outcomes, including cross-cultural considerations in decision-making to ensure the well- being of the diverse population and reduce loopholes that corrupt individuals can use to lobby for outcomes that benefit a few or enable embezzlement of funds (Louw, 2016). Further, the ethical use of data through improved technology to enhance decision-making will be essential through effective legal frameworks that govern the use, access, and distribution of the data to protect the identity and welfare of the public, who trust government officials to make decisions that ensure their welfare. Ethics is important to good governance as it prevents loopholes for unethical occurrences like corruption, where public officials utilize resources for their gain at the expense of the public. As a result, ethics provides frameworks that ensure these occurrences do not occur. The leaders established to engage in unethical practices can be tried and penalized according to the set standards of operations and regulations to dissuade others from contemplating such practices (Zubero et al., 2019). These measures translate to improved efficiency as government officials work towards attaining their set mandates to the people, ensuring improved service delivery and operations. Further, these regions are likely to become economically enhanced as the officials mandated to serve the community work to ensure fairness and impartiality, allowing everyone the opportunity to succeed through favorable economic environments. The community thrives as everyone benefits from the resources and conducive economic environment to uplift themselves economically. Administration and Public Affairs (13th ed.). Consider what kind of online multi-genre, multi-media museum you would create given the allowed options, and limited money, time, and resources.

After doing the readings this week and reviewing the “What’s In Your Museum?” Consider what kind of online multi-genre, multi-media museum you would create given the allowed options, and limited money, time, and resources. Try to use the universal concepts in the Guidelines to narrow your topic/focus in ways that might be important or significant for the community or public. You can also look at some Student Museum Samples and look ahead to next week for the same. This is a brainstorming session, so all ideas are welcome. Write 200 words total, which includes your posting and any response(s). At least one response is required–help your classmates see possibilities for their museum idea, and note any that feel like they might be too large or not very doable in the time frame. That’s actually what I say the most in my feedback to students’ ideas. If someone is going in a direction that interests you, consider chatting to them to see if partnering or group work is possible. This project goes much better with a partner or group! You can do this in the discussion here or in your open discussion space for your specific course section on the Discussions page. Remember: You must work within one of the topic options even though you can–and should–narrow it to make the museum more feasible. This is an online only museum, so it doesn’t have a physical building. Also, your idea might begin with your own personal interest and experience, but museums are public institutions, so this museum site should appeal to and/or serve the public community.

What are some of the challenges that would impact the ability of the victim to leave/escape? Now- look up IPV resources in your community. Do you have them local or are they far away?

Assignment Question

As a law enforcement officer and an academic, I have often heard: “Well why didn’t they just leave?” when discussing IPV (Intimate Partner Violence). Statistically, we know it takes more than 1 attempt at leaving for a victim to permanently leave. We often say it is the “magic number 7” i.e. it takes a victim leaving 7 times before they escape permanently albeit that number depends on the individual. Thinking about this: Why do you think it takes leaving/escaping multiple times?

What are some of the challenges that would impact the ability of the victim to leave/escape? Now- look up IPV resources in your community. Do you have them local or are they far away?

Are there restrictions on who can access them? How does this impact leaving/escaping IPV? Are there certain victims who are denied access?
