Staphylococcus epidermidis

The most effective antibiotic on this type of bacteria is penicillin. This was discovered after carrying out an experiment on this bacterium. Penicillin was used among other antibiotics, which are used to cure bacteria-related diseases. They are tetracycline, streptomycin and bacitracin. Staphylococcus epidermidis was sampled and the three antibiotics were applied on the bacterium. They showed different sizes of inhibition zones. The biggest diameter of inhibition zone was shown by penicillin. This means that it is the best in resisting this type of bacteria. Streptomycin had the smallest diameter of inhibition zone. Therefore, it is the least effective antibiotic on this bacterium (Florey, 38).

Escherichia coli

The most effective antibiotic for this type of bacteria is streptomycin. An experiment was carried out and streptomycin gave the best results in resisting this bacterium. A Petri dish was used to place antibiotics. The antibiotics used were bacitracin, penicillin, streptomycin and tetracycline. After twenty-four hours, Escherichia coli were introduced. The antibiotics were supposed to form zones of inhibition according to their efficiency. Streptomycin formed the largest diameter. It was concluded it is the most effective. The antibiotic with the smallest diameter was penicillin. This means it is the least effective in treating this type of bacteria (Birch & Fleming, 42).

Penicillin

This antibiotic originated from penicillium fungi. It is a group, which include other types of penicillin. For example, other types include penicillin G, procaine penicillin and benzathine penicillin among others. This antibiotic was among the first to be established in curing diseases like syphilis. This drug is also efficient in treating infections from bacteria like staphylococci and streptococci. Penicillin is used by many doctors to treat infection caused by gram-positive organisms. All types of penicillin are beta-lactam antibiotics (Birch, Fleming, 79).

It was also the first antibiotic to treat tuberculosis. This drug treats diseases caused by bacteria infections. It is administered by injection and no formula that can be administered orally. This drug is good at curing infections caused by Escherichia coli, endocarditis, plague and useful to veterinaries too. It is effective on large animals with gram-negative bacterial infections. Streptomycin can be used as a pesticide. It subdues the growth of bacteria, algae and fungi. It can stop fungi diseases in vegetables, fruit crops and other plants (Flowery, 81).

Bacitracin

Bacitracin is produced from Bacillus subtilis. It cures babies with pneumonia and it is completely absorbed in the blood. However, adults cannot use it because it has potential to cause kidney damage. Another use of this antibiotic is used as an ingredient of some medicines to cure eyes and skin diseases. Bacitracin is commonly used to apply areas of skin after tattooing. It prevents any sorts of allergy when healing.

Tetracycline

Tetracycline is classified in the group of broad-spectrum drugs. Bacteria has obtained resistance towards this antibiotic so it uses had decreased. Tetracycline is use for treating bacterial infections in the urinary tract, Chlamydia and intestines. This antibiotic is used on patients who are allergic to antibiotic, which are beta-lactams. Currently, tetracycline is mainly use to treat acne especially when it becomes severe. It is also utilized by veterinaries to treat animals like pigs. Other diseases it may be used to cure are cholera, plague, rickettsia, brucellosis, anthrax and tularemia among others. Tests are being carried out to confirm whether tetracycline can treat some disorders, which are inflammatory.
