Incorporating Theory
The theory that supports my proposed solution is behavioral theory of autistic children. This theory focuses on the specific behaviors of the children rather than on the diagnostic entity of autism. Most of the children with autism exemplify different social behaviors compared to those that are not having the problem (Lovaas & Smith, 1989). Secondly, the theory emphasizes on the immediate environment as opposed to the history or etiology. Furthermore, the theory operates on various tenets one being that the behaviors of autistic children are consistent with the behaviors of other organism, these children have many behavioral difficulties that are explained by developmental delay, and these autistic children are in a position to learn like other people in certain environments (Bryn Mawr College, 2010). Therefore, the reason for selecting this theory is that it explains the behaviors of the autism children and how it can be treated using behavioral mechanisms. It is a theory that provides precise understanding of how autism is caused and how it can be managed.
The theory works to support the proposed solution as it helps to understand how these children with autism behave and the way out. It also provides an understanding that there is a problem that can be solved through learning in various environments. For instance, social skills can be learned and help to improve the behaviors of children suffering from autism.
This theory is therefore, essential in enhancing understanding of autism and it will be incorporated in the discussions to help in enhancing understanding of how the problem of autism can be managed through behavioral change. It is therefore, a theory that will help to understand better ways and means of managing autism in children.
