How the volatility in oil prices have an impact in the Latin American Countries Economies.
• What hypothesis do you want to test?
The objective is to test and analyse the impact of the volatility in the oil prices en Latin American countries.
• What is the economic relation between your independent and dependent variable?
First, the situation and global market dynamics and the role that those countries in the region have at it, later to investigate the factors that explain the volatility of oil prices during the period 2010 – 2015. It then analyses foreign trade of these countries and the potential impact of oil prices on the trade balance and its significance in GDP, considering that the average prices during this period.
• Motivation
What will be your contribution to the academic literature?
• Actually the energy prices have a big impact in the economies, specially how the prices can play an important economic role, but as well, can be used for companies and countries as a geopolitical weapon. (mejorar)
• Why is your thesis topic relevant?
o Oil and its almost infinite range of derivatives makes him one of the most important factors of economic and social development worldwide.
o Oil and strategic decisions affecting him taken by producing countries influence almost all cost components of a large part of the products we consume. When the price of oil a rise in costs, more or less immediately, occurs in almost all productive sectors and therefore shows in the prices of consumer goods.
o The extraction and production of oil is in the hands of a few producing countries and is controlled by cartels called (OPEC), who with their decisions influence the different markets and impact economies in which the minimum oil prices are set not only for countries which export, but, as well for those countries which need to import oil and derivatives.
