KEEP IN MIND, the game will be held on the year 2001 or BEFORE, so there are some limitations part of this presentation. AND PLEASE USE GOOGLE SLIDES IF POSSIBLE 🙂 In this assignment, you will be translating the information you’ve generated in your “Game Brief” document from Part 2 into a visually compelling pitch deck on Google Slides. Imagine that you are your fictional game designer, and you are about to meet with a group of investors to try to get funding for your fictional game. What would you do? What visual language would you employ to get their attention? You will be submitting a link to the Google Slides deck (please be sure to set it to “everyone with the link can view”) The minimum for this assignment is 10 slides. Each slide should include at least one image – these can be “original content” or sourced from other places online. However, I encourage you to use your creativity! Pick creative colors, use different fonts, create a visual identity for your project that is compelling. Also, Google Slides is great with .GIFs… Minimum 10 slides should be the following: – Title Page. As you can see on the first example, please include the title of the game, the name of your fictional game designer, and your information in the corner. – “The Pitch”. Here, we see it in the Bioshock template pitch deck as slides 2, 3 and 4. The pitch starts by telling us exactly what it is – in this case, Bioshock’s creators had already successfully released two games, so in slide 2 they use that as a way of getting the investors attention! “First person Action-Horror from the creators of System Shock 2 and Freedom Force!” Then, the pitch moves on to capture the attention through storytelling. The creators of this deck use found images and evocative images to give you a sense of what it would feel like to be playing the game they imagine. In your case, this might be a slogan, a question, or an evocative image from the game. – Overview. Here’s where you can condense your “high level overview” of the game into a few short sentences. – Story. Likewise, condense your story to fit into the constraints of a visually compelling pitch deck. What kind of imagery can help convey the story of your game? – Characters (if applicable). Who is the main character of your story? In slide 13 of the Bioshock template we see an example of this, but it doesn’t feature an image of the character. If you have concept art you’ve created, or if you have found images that serve as good models of what you want your character to look like, include that here. – Innovation: What makes your game different from other games in the industry? This is a good moment to use screenshots and images of other games to talk about which games it is like, and which games it is different from. – Mechanics. In slides 14-16 you see descriptions of different mechanics of the game Bioshock. In this same way, how can you use icons and images to convey the mechanics of your game? – Technical Details.
