Assignment Question
The Introduction section should be a description of the theory or area you intend to analyze (feel free to use our textbook as a source here; about one page). Include a clear and succinct thesis statement related to your topic (last sentence of the first paragraph). Here is a sample thesis statement: The social exchange theory is useful for understanding sexuality within a relational context; it focuses on what each partner gives and receives from the other. Also, here, tell the reader what the paper will be about. The bulk of the paper will focus on your analysis and description of the application of the theory/area to everyday life. You should include references and citations from a minimum of five peer-reviewed journal articles from scholarly journals. You may include more sources and also use books or websites, but at least five peer-reviewed journal articles must be read/cited (use Psych info at the COSC library to find these articles). In this section, you can focus on the following details: Does this theory/area help you make sense of specific interactions or situations? What did the authors do in the research articles? You may choose experiences from your own life, the media, etc. Does this theory/area contradict other research you have read about? Does the theory/area fail to take important factors into consideration? Are there limitations to the way this theory/area can be tested? This response will be based partly on your own opinions but make sure to evaluate the theory/area in the context of psychological research methods. Include references and citations throughout your paper. When in doubt, cite what we write. In other words, all factual points should be cited, and the source should be listed on the reference page.
