This assignment consists of five parts. Employment Packet Start by watching the following video from our career center: https://youtu.be/utkpsmWdfxI?feature=shared Part One: Job Analysis (1.5 pages) Find an ad for an available job within your chosen profession—a volunteer opportunity, an internship, or a full-time or part-time paid position you will soon be qualified for as a new graduate. Which aspects of the job appeal to you?

Identify the qualifications necessary to be hired into that position. Which qualifications do you have now? Which do you still need? What attributes might the employer be looking for that aren’t explicitly mention in the ad but seem intrinsic to the position? Please summarize your thoughts on this ad, reflecting on what accomplishments or attributes you already have and on what “gaps” you plan to close (1-2 pages).

Part Two: Accomplishments Statement (2 pages). Write a list of five different strengths, illustrating each one with specific examples. This may be a chart if you prefer that format.

Part Three: Career Goals Statement (2 pages). Write down your long-term and short-term professional goals and explain how they relate to this specific position. This section can be written in the form of a narrative essay.

Part Four: Résumé and Cover Letter. Using the guidance provided in the Learning Material, prepare an up-to-date résumé targeted specifically to this job and highlighting your strongest credentials as a candidate. Then write a formal, persuasive cover letter designed to get you an interview for this job (1 page).

Part Five: Write out your answers to the following interview questions and follow-ups. When faced with a task at work, what is your preferred way of tackling the work? (work in a group, work alone, prefer heavy supervision, etc) Why? Why have you chosen this career? Was there a particular moment or set of experiences that shaped your decision? What skills do you have that make you particularly equipped to perform well in this position?

Can you think of an instance when you didn’t know how to do something or made a mistake in an employment setting? How did you handle it? Do you wish you had done it differently? What would you do instead if you had it to do over now? Has there been a time when you noticed something that could be improved in your community or at your place of work? What steps did you take?

What was the outcome? Talk about a time when you were faced with morally or ethically difficult situation. What steps did you take? What was the outcome?
