Click on every continent to see some of the world’s greatest historic architectural sites. UNESCO is the UN agency which works with cultural and educational matters, including preserving cultural heritage–from artwork to architecture, from music to cooking. Part 1: Choose 1 site from the UNESCO website that interest you and answer these questions:
1. Which sites did you choose and what about the sites appeals to you?
2. Why is it historically important according to the UNESCO World Heritage Center?
3. How do you think these sites have influenced architecture?
4. Is there a site not on the list that you think should be?
5. Why is it important to protect these sites? What could be some of the obstacles to do so?
Part 2: Design a building, monument or site inspired by your favorite UNESCO World Heritage Site. This can be a sketch that you hand draw (if so take a picture of your sketch and upload to this assignment with your responses to the above questions) or something that you create using Canva.com or another digital design app. Explain what inspired you to create this monument/building or site.
