Contemplate, ruminate, and meditate on the arguments and analyses I’ve highlighted in my lectures on Foucault’s (1990) The History of Sexuality, Volume I. Then please develop and write five substantive essay-type questions pertaining to his analysis/arguments using the following guidelines for each question you develop: (a) it should focus on a significant aspect or component of Foucault’s analyses/arguments (as highlighted in lectures), and not on any minor point(s); (b) it should be a question you would be able to answer; (c) it should be a question you would be able to answer in a short essay of about 300 words; (d) it may not be a question I have given you (in lectures, assignments, etc.); and (e) it should always spell Foucault’s name correctly…. Then- Develop a short essay responsive to oneof the five questions you yourself posed in Part I. Your essay should be 300 words in length (plus or minus 25 words). (Penalties will be deducted progressively for going every 25 words over or under the word count guideline of 300 words.) Please single-space your text, leave margins of 1.25″ on all sides, and use a font no smaller than 11 pt. Clearly mark “Part I” and “Part II” but keep both Parts on the same page and within the same document. A NOTE ON REFERENCING: For this Short Assignment, you should NOT provide a Bibliography unless you draw on works not assigned in our class – and you should NOT draw on any works from outside our class. However, you do need to use proper in-text citations when drawing on Foucault: that means you must include page numbers from Foucault’s book each time you directly quote or closely paraphrase Foucault.
