I hold a degree in Computer Information Science and currently work in the IT/Information Assurance sector within the Navy. For this assignment, I’d like to explore the topic of “Emerging Cybersecurity Threats in Military Environments.” This topic piqued my interest due to its relevance to my current job and future prospects. Cybersecurity has become a critical concern in military operations, and staying ahead of evolving threats is crucial to maintaining the integrity and security of sensitive information and critical infrastructure.
The process I followed to choose this topic involved a combination of personal experience, observation of industry trends, and research into recent developments in cybersecurity. Given my role in Information Assurance, I have a firsthand understanding of the challenges and vulnerabilities faced by military networks. Additionally, the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks on military systems highlighted the urgency of addressing emerging threats.
This topic is highly relevant to my degree field, as it encompasses computer science and information technology, with a strong focus on security and defense. In my current job, it directly applies to my responsibilities in safeguarding classified data and ensuring secure communication networks. This research question will allow me to delve into various aspects of cybersecurity, including threat analysis, technological advancements, and strategic planning, all of which are essential in my current role and will continue to be vital in shaping my future career in the field of IT and Information Assurance.
