How are you here? The sociological imagination outlines the relationship between biography and history; the relationship between agency and structure. We all made choices that led to us sitting in this classroom right now. But these choices were shaped by particular social circumstances. Explain how your life sits at the intersection of biography and history. What led to you sitting in this sociology class in the Liberal Arts Program at Centennial College at this moment in your life? How is your life shaped by both your choices and the larger social and structural forces in society? A good assignment should demonstrate a clear and comprehensive understanding of the sociological imagination; provide some convincing application of sociological theory; and offer relevant examples to support your answer. Answers should be approximately 500 words. You can use course slides, the readings, or online sources in your answer but must cite your work. This is not a formal essay.
