You have also likely observed (on television for instance) many aspects of Texas politics, especially the campaign ads prior to the most recent elections and coverage the Texas Legislature’s special session. There is never dull moment in Texas Government. As a final act of exploration in the course, I would like for you read the University of Texas’ Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life “Civic Health Index” report. The most recent report was published in 2018, but it offers some interesting insights into “civic health” in Texas. Based upon what you have learned in the course (and what you likely already knew about government and politics in Texas), and what you learn in the report, how would you characterize civic health in Texas? Base your response off your analysis of one to two areas of state government. You have the option of responding to this question in traditional essay format or in a creative manner. Written responses should be a minimum of two pages. Creative responses may include: A recorded presentation. Your presentation must be accompanied by slides that include citations. A podcast episode discussing the topic. When submitting the episode, please include citations.
