In writing your final paper of the semester on this poem, build your interpretation around consideration of two questions: What does this poem say? Are we to take the message seriously? That means you are to consider, or think about, these questions, not write about them. Once you have figured out your answers to these two questions, please write a 3-page paper in which you respond to the poem. How, in other words, would you respond to the speaker of this poem? There is no research to be done for this paper, no secondary sources to use: this paper is simply a conversation between you and the speaker of the poem. There is to be no Works Cited page appended to the paper.
