Discuss about the protections provided by the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).The topic that I was assigned to work on is “The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and its system of protection”. However, this is not the only focus of my term paper as it has to start with a thesis and develop a well-argued conclusion that discusses the pros and cons of the convention (look at the attached instructions file). 2. Term paper should explore the interconnections between human rights standards and an empirical issue in the area of international security. 3. Term paper should include comparative studies, including two or three countries, and case studies. 4. The term paper should be written according to the professor’s requirements (I’ve uploaded a pdf file that includes all instructions). 5. Length of the paper: not more than 2.500 words (not counting the cover sheet, contents page, bibliography, appendices etc.). 6. The term paper should include headings and sub-headings. 7. The Table of Contents has to be numbered (1. 1.2 …), followed by the list of references: in alphabetical order of the authors (last name). 8. References in the text: Have to be precise: citing the exact pages (e.g. Ruggie, page 4-6 [not: page 4 ff.], or where available the paragraph(s) (e.g. Nevesun Ressources v. Aray, para. 81-84). A reference to a whole book or article (e.g. Ruggie, 2000) is only permitted if reference is made to the whole idea of the paper and not only to a special argument or assertion). 9. Main aspects for the evaluation of the term paper: – clear structure – broad use of valuable academic resources (Text and case books, monographic publications, articles in academic journals, court decisions, opinions by international institutions such as the Human Rights Committee etc.) – critical approach (relying not only on one source but testing the assumptions) – don’t just name the relevant human rights, but argue if and why certain acts interfere with or even violate human rights. 10. Attached instructions must be read and carefully applied to this term paper. (see attached pdf file).
