Different people have different personality styles, which affect the way they communicate and make decision. These strategic styles vary and have strengths as well as vulnerabilities.
I believe my strategic styles are reactive stimulator and logical processor. I am usually action oriented and I normally react immediately to situations (Ungvari, 2012). I normally focus exclusively on what I am doing and expect to achieve the targets immediately. Therefore, the action mode I normally use is unpatterned as I do not put more emphasis on the details but rather focus on the tangible ends. I also belong to school of thought or strategic process style of logical processor. I am result-oriented as I follow a logical and systematic format to ensure that I come out with the best results in some of the tasks I engage in. Dealing with such assignments requires high level of organization to ensure that positive outcomes are attained. Therefore, the strategic pattern I belong is performer (Shannon, 2003). This has affected the way I normally behave at work. I am usually process oriented and this enables me to achieve most of my objectives. I normally seek or focus on attaining solutions to challenges and problems that come in my way. My main motivation when it comes to solving problem is to reach a solution regardless of the means that I use.
I have also realized that these two strategic processing styles and strategic pattern affect my way of communication and decision-making. Communication is a means through which people create understanding through information sharing. Communication is important because it allows people to understand each other and to be able to meet set objectives set. In an organization set up, communication is the avenue through which aims, objectives, and plans are transmitted to trigger a certain course of action. Therefore, at the work place I engage in communication with the intention of achieve my goals. I use it to foster the achievement of my goals. Therefore, it is solely based on finding solutions to challenges and problems encountered in the organization. Because of this, I often engage in conversations that are beneficial and that are geared to helping me reach my goals or find immediate solutions to problems at hand.
I also make various decisions at work and I believe that the decisions are greatly affected by the strategic pattern of performance. My decisions have in the past been determined the situation and circumstances and the major objectives and focus is to ensure that I meet that which I have set. I have made some decisions through systematic thought, putting in mind various factors. I dig deep to an aspect to find an amicable way to address this. In an organization, many problems and issues that I have come across require appropriate decision-making. Some of the cases involve issues of discipline, turn over, strategies to improve production among other issues requiring decision-making. For instance, when making a decision concerning investments, I normally consider or evaluate different perspectives before reaching to conclusions. I normally do things within short time focus being to attain positive outcome. The most appropriate solutions or process that promises positive outcomes are normally adopted in reaching the decision.
Communication is also used to ensure that I reach a constructive outcome or decision. In communication, I endeavor to clarify the purpose or the things that I am required to do to be able to achieve the outcome or the objective that I desire. I also summarize every stage that I have reached and evaluate whether everything is moving as required. As I do this, I make sure that I focus on the goals, I stated (McNamara, 2013). This is achieved by reviewing and refocusing of the goals to ensure that I do not deviate from the intended goals. Furthermore, I usually involve few people in decision-making process. This is one way of ensuring that the process of reaching to conclusion is shorted. Engaging many people requires a lot of time and this delays the process of making decision (Blair, 2013). Therefore, to ensure that various issues are attended to within time, I solicit ideas and views from a limited number of individuals.
Therefore, in conclusion, I agree that every individual has his own way of processing information. This greatly impacts on the way we make decision and engage in communication at our work place. For instance, judging by the way I make my decisions and communicate, I belong to strategic pattern of performer. I am usually concerned about the end or the outcome as opposed to the process. Therefore, at my work place, I am result oriented and do not mind about the process I use to achieve the outcome. This personal style even though is advantageous in ensuring that I achieve my objectives, it is has some ramifications such as it lacks detailed and deeper analysis of the situations and may cause misunderstandings in the process.
