Topic: U6D1

U6D1 – Reflective Practitioner

A key component in doing anything new is changing the old behavior/attitude/belief so that the change can take effect. According to Kurt Lewin, you must unfreeze before you can begin to change. The unfreezing in itself is a change that allows you to be open to further change. Once you have unfrozen, you are able to transform, then by refreezing, you internalize the change.
If you picture this as an ice cube, the process becomes clear, before you can make a square ice cube into a different shape you must first allow it to thaw, to get used to the idea of change.
Identify a change effort that you were a part of or that you witnessed. Provide a brief overview of the intended change and the outcome.
Using one of the change theories in the book or one that you have researched, analyze the change effort that you presented. What went well? What didn’t go well? What would you have done differently if you had been in a leadership position?

Topic: Two ESL Lesson Plans

Order Description

Design, plan and prepare in detail two content-based unit lessons for a group of students
in a specific setting of your choice. The unit lessons should run consecutively; the second
should flow logically from the first and there should be some thread that links the two
together. The aim of the whole content-based unit plan is to develop your students’
awareness, skills and learning strategies for integrating the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking) and to foster their
content knowledge. Your unit lessons should also be designed based on the “Into, Through,
and Beyond” framework (Brinton, Goodwin, & Ranks, 1994). That is, your students will be
able to get “into” the content, “through” it with your guidance, and “beyond” it by producing
more extensive output. Present the plans as per the guidelines below.
The detailed content-based unit plan should be comprised of:
1. Key unit planning components:
• a title page that states the unit topic
• a table of contents that lays out each headed section
• a scope and sequence chart that identifies connections between your planned
lessons, and provides an overview of the key components of each lesson
• a detailed rationale (see #2 below for further information)
• a student profile including the content area, grade level/age group, proficiency level,
duration of each lesson, student L1 background
• each lesson plan that consists of
o a lesson topic
o lesson objectives for content, language, skills
o progression of activities (the anticipated timing for each stage and the
anticipated interaction patterns)
o resources/materials (e.g., visuals, texts, worksheets, etc; see #3)
2. The rationale should specify why you have set particular aims in light of the specific needs
of the particular class, how the four skills will be integrated and content knowledge supported
through language and visual aids, anticipated problems and strategies, lesson materials,
activities and evaluations. Also provide relevant literature and a reference list following APA
6th guidelines.
3. All the lesson materials have to be submitted along with your unit plan. These can be
created by you or adapted from existing materials.

Evaluating Mission Statements

The mission statement describes the purpose of the organization (i.e., why the business exists). As outlined in the Mission Statements article, here are some things to consider when evaluating a mission statement:
•Is the mission statement focused on satisfying customer needs rather than on the product?
•Does the mission statement tell who the company’s customers are?
•Does the mission statement explain what customer needs the company is trying to satisfy?
•Does the mission statement explain how the company will serve its customers?
•Does the mission statement fit the current market environment?
•Is the mission statement based on the company’s core competencies?
•Is the mission statement motivating and does it inspire employee commitment?
•Is the mission statement realistic?
•Is the mission statement specific, short, sharply focused, and memorable?
•Is the mission statement clear and easily understood?
•Does the mission statement say how the company wants to be remembered?
Review the following mission statements. Evaluate each mission statement based on the above criteria and explain how the mission statements meet or failed to meet those criteria.

Record the current price of the stock for each company you selected in Week 3s Stock Journal. You may use any price during this week (e.g., day one price, the opening, the low, the high, the close, or any price you find when you check it during the day). Using MS Excel spreadsheet or MS Word document, put your Week 3 and Week 8 stock prices side-by-side, to show your comparison.

Are you upset because you\’re investment is worth less than $25,000. Feel free to speculate / guess at why you believe the stock increased, decreased, or remained static.
