Project description
Below is the essay question

VO2 max can be defined as the highest volume of oxygen inspired and used at the cellular level during maximal effort. Describe how the cardiovascular and respiratory systems operate together in order to deliver this oxygen to the muscle and explain the fate of oxygen once inside the muscle cell

This is the essay plan
Introduction
The introduction will outline the several subjects which will lead into my academic story about VO2 max, and how it can be defined as the highest volume of oxygen inspired during maximal effort of activity. Describe how the cardiovascular and respiratory systems operate together in order to deliver this oxygen to the muscle and explain the fate of oxygen once inside the muscle cell?
The question of the assignment will be mentioned
Introduce /What is the cardiovascular system
Say what the cardiovascular is made up of
Why is it important that oxygen is supplied to our body cells
Clarify what is the respiratory system and what it does
What happens when oxygen is in the body and what it does to the cells
Merge oxygen and vo2 add in what vo2 means and why we should know about vo2
Link introduction to main body
Main body
The main body will make up the majority of the word count as it will consist of several paragraphs and I will use evidence from research which will be able to support the points I make. I will go into clear detail of each subject that is in the main body and I will back it up with evidence to support the statements I make.
Components of the cardio vascular system, heart, blood vessels, capillaries, veins, blood, arteries.
How the cardiovascular and respiratory system work together
Cardiac cycle ( what is it)
The exchange of gas in the lung
vo2 max is important to endurance athletes explain why
what is the skeletal muscle
Briefly describe what is skeletal mitochondria
Define the key roles of the mitochondria
Define how oxygen travels from the capillary to the alveoli (what happens to the oxygen during this process)
Functions of the heart
How the circulatory system operates
What happens when oxygen enters the muscle cell
During the capillary level the gaseous exchange and blood pressure
Conclusion
The conclusion will be based on the evidence I am able to gather and a summary of all the points I made in the essay which will be linked to essay title.
With the points I have made which I have backed up with evidence I will state a conclusion
Highlight the key features of the essay (what happens when oxygen is in the muscles)

Which three questions you choose to answer are up to you: But you should select questions that are most relevant to your experience and that best reflect your individual circumstances.

There is no right or wrong way to answer these questions: Its about getting to know your personality, background, interests and achievements in your own unique voice.

Remember, the personal questions are just that personal. Which means you should use our guidance for each question just as a suggestion in case you need help. The important thing is expressing who are you, what matters to you and what you want to share with UC.

Required question

Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your upper-division courses once you enroll at the university.

Things to consider: How did your interest in your major develop? Do you have any experience related to your major outside the classroom such as volunteer work, internships and employment, or participation in student organizations and activities? If you havent had experience in the field, consider including experience in the classroom. This may include working with faculty or doing research projects.

If youre applying to multiple campuses with a different major at each campus, think about approaching the topic from a broader perspective, or find a common thread among the majors youve chosen.
(Ive been around car dealerships a lot for maintenance for my car, so I have been learning lots of terms of leadership and what it is like to actually work there due to the fact that my service advisors do tell me the facts and how the atmosphere is like and terminology.) I was in leadership throughout high school and this allowed me to take initiative and be a leader instead of a follower. Working at the age of 15 1/2 – I was already gaining many experience from working customer service at Jamba Juice and knowing how to manage a group of people and what not since I was able to obtain the management position.

1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.

Things to consider: A leadership role can mean more than just a title. It can mean being a mentor to others, acting as the person in charge of a specific task, or taking lead role in organizing an event or project. Think about your accomplishments and what you learned from the experience. What were your responsibilities?

Did you lead a team? How did your experience change your perspective on leading others? Did you help to resolve an important dispute at your school, church in your community or an organization? And your leadership role doesnt necessarily have to be limited to school activities. For example, do you help out or take care of your family?

2. Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem solving, original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you express your creative side.

Things to consider: What does creativity mean to you? Do you have a creative skill that is important to you? What have you been able to do with that skill? If you used creativity to solve a problem, what was your solution? What are the steps you took to solve the problem?

How does your creativity influence your decisions inside or outside the classroom? Does your creativity relate to your major or a future career?

5. Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?

Things to consider: A challenge could be personal, or something you have faced in your community or school. Why was the challenge significant to you? This is a good opportunity to talk about any obstacles youve faced and what youve learned from the experience. Did you have support from someone else or did you handle it alone?

If youre currently working your way through a challenge, what are you doing now, and does that affect different aspects of your life? For example, ask yourself, How has my life changed at home, at my school, with my friends, or with my family?
( I am gay, so I was bullied throughout grade school, middle school, and high school.) Find a way to make it creative somehow but I managed to look pass it by senior year by coming out of the closet to my English class in a Who I really am speech that my teacher made us do.

7. What is the one thing that you think sets you apart from other candidates applying to the University of California?

Things to consider: Dont be afraid to brag a little. Even if you dont think youre unique, you are remember, theres only one of you in the world. From your point of view, what do you feel makes you belong on one of UCs campuses? When looking at your life, what does a stranger need to understand in order to know you?

What have you not shared with us that will highlight a skill, talent, challenge, or opportunity that you think will help us know you better? Were not necessarily looking for what makes you unique compared to others, but what makes you, YOU.

Discuss the purpose of negative feedback loops?

Project description

What is the purpose of negative feedback loops? How do they work? Explain the comparison between biological regulation and a thermostat. What do they have to do with homeostasis? Why are examples of positive feedback loops so rare in biological systems? What is an example?
What is the role of the endocrine system in homeostasis (body regulation)? What are the differences between signaling by the nervous, paracrine, and endocrine systems? What are the major endocrine glands and where are they located?

. Be sure to discuss the stimulus, the sensor, the integrating center, the effector, and the response for each. Water balance through ADH, calcium homeostasis through PTH, blood sugar through insulin and glucagon, appetite through leptin and ghrelin, and the HPA axis (stress response).

1-What is the role of environmental variables as drivers of community composition and distribution? Why are some species are more abundant in some places than others, or just not present in all the planet homogeneously?
2-Which are the principles behind the concept of competition? Why do species compete? What do they compete for? Analyze the concept of niche.
3-What is predation, and how can predation influence prey populations?
4-Analyze some examples of how plants and animals defend themselves against predation.
5-What is symbiosis? Compare and contrast the different kinds of symbiotic relationships. Describe a possible experiment that could be done to test what kind of interaction really occurs between two species.
6-Discuss the keystone species concept and how predation can regulate comptetion
7-What is altruism? Why could altruism appear to be a problem for the theory of evolution by natural selection? What are the ways in which altruism can result in propagation of the individuals alleles in the next generation, or even actually benefit the individual?
