The Constitution of the United States was written in 1787. Since it officially went into effect, it has been amended 27 times. The entire Constitution and all of the amendments are printed in the Appendices of your textbook. Three of those amendments were added during the Reconstruction period. Those were the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments. For your essay topic, select one of those three amendments and make an argument about why that one was the most significant of the three. Only write about one amendment.
You should include a list of sources. There should be at least 4-5 sources on the list. You should use good, scholarly sources. For this paper you may not use more than 3 websites. You must find two sources besides the Internet. You need to learn to use the library and all of its resources. Sources that you should not use include the textbook or any other textbook, Wikipedia (or any other website like Wikipedia), or online dictionaries. Do not use encyclopedias of any description. Web sites like about.com and others like it are not good scholarly sources.
Your essay should be between 500 and 1000 words in length. You should have standard 1 inch margins all around the page. You should use a 12-point font that I like. I like Times New Roman. Your essay should be double spaced. I expect your essay to be well written. Use formal English grammar and all that involves: sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, paragraphing, capitalization and anything else that comes under this heading

Governments develop and support economic systems that they believe will give their society a competitive advantage and worldwide recognition as a viable global force. Every country’s social system is comprised of three components: cultural forces, economic forces, and political forces. These dynamic forces are in constant motion and prove to be a challenge to firms entering foreign markets.
Today, a firm’s competitive environment is not confined to its national borders. Firms try to achieve greater market share and gain competitive advantage by selling in global markets. In order to be successful, firms must fully understand the countries with which they do business. To do this, firms develop strategy based on an analysis of the environment in the foreign country.
To help you understand this contemporary economic concept and apply it to global competitive advantage, you are required to submit a research paper that examines the cultural, economic, and political forces in a country of your choice based on the industry you select. You are not permitted to use a country where English is the primary language spoken. India is the only exception to this. After examining these forces, you must identify the challenges or opportunities that firms face when trying to do business in these countries and make recommendations to firms entering these markets.
