A democratic nation, such as the United States, works to uphold an ideal society where all people are treated equally, regardless of race. However, popular media culture, driven as it is by profit, tends toward the reinforcement of existing, majority-driven norms. As a result, equal treatment or uniform depiction of race in popular culture may be subjective depending on your racial vantage point.

In this Discussion, you will assess the different perceptions of race by and through popular culture.

Your group will discuss TV/advertising.

Find one or two specific texts within the media type TV/ Advertising that demonstrate racial depiction in popular culture. (Remember that modern popular culture texts refers to movies, TV shows, pieces of music, books, magazines, etc. Also, modern popular culture references are not restricted to recent examples.)

The goal of this paper is to Explain how certain biblical texts depict the city of Jerusalem as sacred space. The paper should address how the biblical texts relate the physical features of the city to the sacred or mythical aspects of Jerusalem. As we now wrap up the main substantive part of the course, in effect we are ending at the beginning. As we discussed periodically through the semester, unfortunately in the real world there are people who are beyond reclamation. Just as your experiences with the police go a long way towards determining your attitudes about the police, the first encounter one has with the criminal law system will go a long way towards determining what their future will hold. As you research you will realize that juveniles are treated differently in many respects from adults when they are brought into the criminal law system.

Many juvenile offenses are adjudicated in Family courts, which in theory, operate in the best interests of the child.
