Your assignment should consist of 4 parts.
1: Introduction, this describes the general topic and determines what you will be writing about. Remember this is a broad topic and you need to make sure you set out the content of your assignment in the introduction. (10-15% of your word credit)
2: The disease, this part describes what the disease is all about. What makes sickle cell anaemia sickle cell anaemia on a physiological and cellular level? What is the effect and how is that explained on a physiological/cellular level. (15-20-% of your word credit)
3: What is the genetic background of the disease, how is it inherited, are specific population groups involved and how can this be explained using genetics? Find a real pedigree to support your inheritance pattern, maybe use some statistics to support your findings. Are there more genetic factors involved? Is it really simple Mendelian genetics? You should talk about DNA level as well and describe mutations/chromosomal location/size of the gene/introns/exons etc. However, you have not done much on mutations yet so this maybe quite challenging.(at least 50% of your word credit).

Compare and contrast the way in which Native Americans in “Pocahontas” and Marquesans in Typee are portrayed as “savages.” For Native Americans the term is considered extremely offensive. What purpose does this racial/ethnic stereotype of “the savage” serve? What are the limits and flaws in this logic of seeing others as “savages”? Note that Melville moves back and forth between idealizing and mocking Marquesans as “noble savages.” You must discuss both the film and the novel. You must take a stand and explore the deeper meanings of the idea of savagery.
