Five Reasons for Employees Resisting Change
The assigned readings and additional research reveal one idea about change at the workplace: That it is a normal thing for employees to resist change. However, it is important to understand the major reasons why employees resist change because such understanding can improve how institutions manage the process of change so that employees can be less resistant to it. The student finds that the five leading reasons for resistance to change are: the fear of losing jobs, poor communication methods, change brings shock and anxiety; it causes loss of control, and the employees lack competence that change requires.
Thesis statement: Research suggests that patients need increased education about Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders and Advanced Directives because of the added risk of interventional procedures, the likelihood of a diminished quality of life after interventional procedures, and the exorbitant cost of end-of-life care.
