Critique of Research Articles: Part 1 (due week 7)

Each work group is to write a team paper that critiques and evaluates the research regarding the practice question or topic. This paper challenges teams of students to create a model for evidence-based nursing practice. This model will either support (1) current nursing practice or (2) a change in practice. This model for nursing practice is based on:
• identifying a nursing clinical topic (Knowledge-Focused Trigger) or clinical question/problem (Problem-Focused Trigger) (as determined in class Week 1);
• searching the literature for original research evidence (Assignments #3 and #4);
• writing a critique and synthesis of four original research articles.

For Assignment #5, write the first half of the paper. Assignment #5 (the first half of the paper) will be approximately 4 pages

Critique each of the 4 articles in your Bibliography for what class has covered so far. Omit a critique of their titles, abstracts, and literature reviews.
Include critique of ethical considerations throughout.
• Statement of the research problem
• Purpose/aims/study questions and/or hypotheses (one of these is enough)

DREAM; Dreaming is a common psychical performance to the human species. Explain.

Abstract
Ever since the first human woke from sleep yawning and stretching, dreams have intrigued humanity. Right through history, dreams have been considered to comprise everything from undeviating communications from the gods to visions of the future, and respect has been bestowed upon them due to the significant psychosomatic insights they can offer. Despite some people claiming that they never dream, it is factual that every individual dream each night. Everyone is capable of dreaming during any period of sleep. Some individuals claim that humans are constantly dreaming which seems the case considering the day dreams and desire thoughts that occur continually to people. However, night dreams consist their own regularly symbolic, language. Dreams can last up to an hour but disappear as soon as an individual wakes up. This paper studies dreams and the impact they have on the lives of people as well as ways through which they help in enhancing the lives of individuals.

Introduction
Dreaming is a common psychical performance to the human species. It is a corporeal action that is inseparable from life itself since the only state people do not dream is in the state of death. Dreams are likely, not memorable in waking consciousness, but unfathomable psychical motion is, whilst life lasts, as unending as physiological procedures of which humans are unaware in deep sleep. Basically, the dream is typical of the human brain. Psychologist Sigmund Freud referred to all the incognisant laws managing all dream productions; condensation, displacement, symbolization and secondary embellishment. Additionally, on the general unconscious rules in control of dreams’ production, Freud suggested the incognisant mind as the origin of the unending action which during sleep signified its wishes in dreams. A dream discloses within itself the unconscious cerebral methods evolved in the course of maturity purposely to control and shape the primitive, as well as intuitional self towards the preferred behaviour by the modern civilization.(Joshi,2012)

Body
Dreams mean something. In the prescientific days, people were in no doubt regarding dream interpretation significant. When they were remembered after awakening, they were deemed as either being the welcoming or unfriendly sign of some superior powers, demoniacal as well as divine. Following the rise of methodical thought, the entire communicative mythology was shifted to psychology; currently there is just a minimal number of educated individuals in doubt that the dream reveals the dreamer’s personal psychical action. However, since the mythology theory downfall, dream interpretation has been inadequate. The state of its derivation; its relation to people’s psychical existence when awake; its sovereignty of disorders which, in time of sleep seem to induce notice; its numeral irregularities repugnant to individuals’ waking thought; the dissimilarity between its representations and the feelings they provoke; also the dream’s evanescence, how on awakening people’s deliberations shove it sideways as something weird, and their memories maiming or rejecting it. These are the numeral problems that have for long period demanded answers which up to date could never be suitable. Regarding the question of whether there is meaning to a dream, there is primarily the psychical meaning which entails its place in regards to the psychical procedures, as to a potential biological purpose; secondly is whether the dream has meaning from a universal view. (Jung& Hull, 2012)

Dreams confer certain magnificent benefits such as management of stress, regardless of whether an individual can remember them or not. Discovering how to remember the dreams assists individuals in being better acquainted with themselves. In addition, it helps people acquire a pulse on their inner health, that is; mental, emotional as well as spiritual. Furthermore, dreams offer advice and warning as well regarding bodily health. Contemporary research on sleep and dreams has undoubtedly established the need for people to dream and that the process of dreaming is beneficial to life and wellbeing. (Richmond, 2000) Frequently, the mind will take a present situation and immensely dramatize it, to have surety over what is actually progressing in the waking life. Sometimes, during dreams people view creative solutions to their issues. Taking a quandary in to the dream situation can be deemed as brainstorming with a problem resolving think tank. Often, individuals will wake up having an ideal solution. Dreams mirror people’s anxieties. Ordinary themes such as being late for a test, nudity in public, and falling relate to times humans feel inadequately prepared, judged or not in control in the waking lives. According to dream experts, close to 12% of dreams come to be true. Biblical history and folklore constitute numeral stories of dreams that turned true and at present, science has validated the same phenomena. Inconvincible people will claim such occurrences as coincidence but to people having the experiences its more to just coincidences. (Godfrey, 2004).

Some dreams seem unimportant. They basically process the day’s events and release them. Many, however, are commendable of explanation. Two major levels of interpretation exist; personal which entails individual meaning to the dreamer and the universal which reveal common, spiritual or enlarged meaning. Some dreams can be interpreted in both ways. Basically, paying attention to dreams aids in one’s realization of goals in life.

Furthermore, on stress management; the first dreams people experience after falling asleep frequently revolve around the happenings of the day. People go through them, distinguish as well as discard things not essential to remember and expanding insights in to those needful. Regularly, individuals are motivated with propositions that can serve as remedy for situations that plague them everyday. As people advance through the night’s dreams, they are likely to take on more fantastic values, offering whimsical flights, as well as experiences. These often pleasing images serve to relieve the stress of the day. The dream people have prior to their awakening regularly consists information the subconscious mind wants to inform the conscious, information that in case of remembering, interpreting and understanding could serve as a vital tool in our lives.(Godfrey, 2004)
