Book reviews should be:
– Between 1000 and 1500 words long (make sure to stay in this range)
– Begin with a bibliographical entry (author, title, publication information)
– Use a 12 point font- Double-space
Each review should consist of the following four parts:
1) Summary: A strong summary describes and discusses the author’s purpose, major themes, ideas, sources and conclusions. It can be one paragraph long, though a good summary will often require one-third to one-half of the maximum length allowed. The summary should offer the reader an accurate account of the contents of the book.
2) Reception: It is useful for students to read three to five reviews of the given book prior to reviewing it. Students may find that professional reviews illuminate controversies and other issues that are not apparent to casual readers.The reception section should describe and discuss the reactions of scholars to the book in question. In particular, it should note those features of the book upon which the reviewers agreed, as well as a discussion of points of disagreement. Students might ask the following questions:
– Did the reviewers agree on the purpose of the book?
– Did they agree on the importance of the book?
– What common themes run through the professional reviews?

Project: Develop a hazard assessment system, complete the assessment for a job or task and present it in class.
Your hazard assessment system should facilitate the completion of a hazard assessment for a job or task by identifying hazards, documenting control methods and determining risk levels. A procedure should define how the system works, especially how risk levels are determined.

The assessment can be completed for any job. It is recommended that you complete the assessment for a job or task with which you are familiar.

Your project should cover the following items:
1. Hazard assessment form (8 points)
● The hazard assessment form is the primary tool for documenting the information about the assessment, the hazards, risk factors, risks and controls. Consider and include other necessary information on the form that makes it useful and meaningful to the employer and the employee.
2. Risk assessment methodology (6 points)
● Identify the factors that the system uses to determine risk. Define and describe how the factors are used to determine risk by a numerical system/calculations, a matrix system or another method. The methodology should also define the risk levels and assign actions based on the level of risk.
3. Rationale for the design of your hazard assessment form and methodology (6 points)

● Describe the advantages in how the form has been designed. Describe the advantages in how risk levels are determined. Describe how the form and methodology are used and are useful to workers.
4. Job description of job assessed (4 points)
● Provide an overview of the job or task.
5. Completed hazard assessment (14 Points)

For two pages write a good summery of the article – covering all the information (no skimming!). For the last page, pick a topic in the article of your interest and write comments/arguments in DITAIL! Using addition information of your own knowledge.

This course is: Direct marketing. Each student must complete a final campaign project as a take-home exam based on a case uploaded into Moodle. The final exam case submission must include the following components: Review the direct marketing campaign(s) used by the organization in the case and critique it (review its strengths and weaknesses) Create a DM campaign (see requirements on the individual case) Design all creative elements (ads, brochures, etc.) for the campaign you have developed. There are two case options for the take-home final case exam. Students must complete one of the options. Follow the instructions carefully in each handout (download below). The cases are now available and can be started now and submitted any time up until the due date. Students can upload one of the following formats Word, PowerPoint, PDF, or Publisher. remember that this is a Final Case Take-Home Exam (40%) I will upload two cases you could choose any of them. this assignment needs more research as it is a take home exam and worth almost half of the course mark so every step is important.

Criterion (or standards-based) and norm reference assessments are two ways in which to measure student performance in schools. Describe what each of these mean. Provide two examples of use for each of these. Provide a rationale that support the use of criterion referenced assessments for school accountability. Do the same for norm reference assessments.

Description
For this assignment, you will be creating a teen pregnancy prevention (or teen parenting) plan. The teen pregnancy prevention plan can focus on how to reduce unplanned teen pregnancy, or can focus on how to improve teen parenting efforts. How you go about this is up to you, but it is important to use the research when formulating your plan. Any variables you select should be backed up by research. In this paper you will:
Describe several facets of your plan: what variables (e.g., parental monitoring) will you choose to focus on and why (e.g., higher parental monitoring has been shown by the research to lower teens’ risk of adolescent pregnancy).
You will also discuss how you would attempt to effect those variables (e.g., educating parents on how to effectively monitor without being overprotective, since that seems to increase teens’ risk).
Finally, you will discuss how you would implement such a program logistically (e.g., who specifically would you target for your program and why? Where would this program be based?).

Part II: This section is probably the most important and longest. Here you will evaluate the ideas and concepts you outlined in Part I. You are to take a stance on the material you are discussing (a critical evaluation). Do the author’s arguments make sense? Why/why not? Are they logical? Agree, disagree, react, and reflect on the material. Please use “I statements” in this section as this should be your personal reflection. Here the grader is looking for how reflective, thoughtful, questioning, and critical your response is. Does it appear the student really understood and reacted to the material? Always explain what you think about a certain issue and why you think that way (providing a rationale and justification for your stance is crucial).
Part III: How can we apply this sociologically/‘outside of the classroom’? (In other words, what – beyond talking about this in class and in a paper – does this mean, what can we do with this information?) What was most important, helpful, interesting, and/or exciting about this material? How does the material connect to [your] everyday life? How was this information changed or reinforced the way you view and understand the world? Will this new information alter your thinking/actions in the future? If so, how – if not, why not?

This assignment requires that you use course readings and research outside of the course. You are to write a Research/Argumentative essay on the following topic:
How has computer mediated communication, like in the use of Twitter, Skype, Face-time, Facebook and other forms of social media, indirectly and/or directly affected interpersonal and intercultural communication.
What you are in essence aiming to fulfill is to use the concepts we have discussed and learned in class, as well as through your observational assignments, to come up with an original thesis statement based on the prompt above that you are going to argue throughout your 8 to 10 page final paper. According to Weida and Stolley, “[a]n argumentative or persuasive piece of writing must begin with a debatable thesis or claim. In other words, the thesis must be something that people could reasonably have differing opinions on. If your thesis is something that is generally agreed upon or accepted as fact then there is no reason to try to persuade people” (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/). To come up with your original thesis argument you are going to have to use what we learned in class and research outside class to come up with your original idea.
Once you have created and edited your argumentative thesis statement, you are then going to have to research how you are going to argue your thesis statement throughout the rest of your paper. You will have to determine what subtopics you think are most important and related to your thesis that you can use to argue or prove you thesis stemement i.e. non-verbal communication, perception, self-identity etc… While you are arguing your theis stement through your subtopics you must remember to use examples to illustrate and support your claims.
After statement your main thesis statement and arguing your claim through your subtopics you will then end your paper by rounding up or summarizing your paper in you concluding paragraph.

2) You must research and use at least five different sources, two of which were not covered during class and provide support for your argument from readings and discussions within class.
3) Organize your essay into coherent paragraphs, where each paragraphs discusses one main idea.
4) Use specific interpersonal and intercultural examples to support your points.
5) When being submitted, you must hand in the 1) Final Draft, 2) Rough Draft.
