The information bellow is assigned by my professor.

Dear all,
The following are some guidelines for your MGT201 term project.

– You have to select a company and interview AT LEAST ONE TOP manager and ONE MIDDLE manager. There are no restrictions regarding the field of operations. It can be a manufacturing firm or a service provider.

– The objective of the term project is to analyze how the different concepts learned in MGT201 are applied in real life. You need to know all your concepts before going for the interview. You should also collect valuable information from the managers that will be useful for the analysis.

– A list of questions has been posted in the “Lecture Notes” folder. This list can be used as a guideline. Other questions can be added to the list. The following are examples of points should also be researched:

– The use of the different approaches to management (classical approach, etc…) in the company.

– The company’s organizational culture (dimensions, strong or weak, how culture is learned…).

– The company’s mission, vision, long term objectives and strategies, and their operational strategies.

– You need to be able to perform a SWOT analysis. You should be able to analyze the internal environment of the firm and the external environment (competition, economic environment, cultural, etc).

– Identify and analyze what type of organizational design they are using (departmentalization, formalization, etc.) and whether they use a mechanistic or organic structure.

– Identify and analyze the different reward and motivation strategies they are using in the company and how the different theories of motivation are applied.

– Identify and analyze how the different theories of leadership are applied in the company.

– Identify and analyze how the function of controlling is undertaken in the company.

Make sure that these points are reflected in your questionnaire. Moreover, accessing other written resources such as the company’s annual report(s) and strategic plan(s) could be very helpful for the analysis.

The report should include a cover page, an executive summary, a bibliography page, and of course an introduction and a conclusion.

Each point covered in the paper should first be defined and discussed from a theoretical point of view. Then, you need to discuss and analyze how each concept/theory is applied in the company, identify the gaps between the theory and the practice, and suggest strategies for improvement. You need to use peer reviewed sources for the theories and concepts. You will receive a low grade if you rely on your textbook only.

Other instructions:

– Do not forget to record the interviews and then transcibe them.
– Be ready to explain the concepts to managers in case they are not familiar with them.
– Always ask them to PROVIDE EXAMPLES, and to ELABORATE more. “Yes or No” questions and answers will not help you understand how the company is managed.
– Make sure you dedicate a section towards the end of the paper to discuss the challenges facing the company and to provide recommendations for improvement.
– For your analysis, rely on the interviews, the peer-reviewed resources, any other official document obtained from the company, and any online resources discussing the company’s operations.
– You might want to sit and observe employee behavior for few hours. This will be helpful to analyze the company’s organizational culture.
– Please note that you are collectively reponsible of the quality of your paper. This means that your role is not just to work on your part and then put all parts together to form a paper. if your part is excellent but the other parts are not, then your grade will be low. Check for typos, redundancies, and grammatical errors. These will dramatically lower your grade.
– I advise you to run the paper by the writing center. They can help you fix the structure of paper before submission.
– I know that some students “outsource” the work and pay to buy custom-made reports. I do not advise you to use this method and I can assure you that I will find out about it. You will not only fail the assignment but you will also fail the course and get reported to the Associate Dean’s office. You know your reponsibilities so act accordingly.
– Your report will be checked by safe-assign. Any percentage of match that is superior to 20% will be considered as plagiarism. Actions will be taken accordingly.
Thank you.

Write a summary on the movie “Can Cyborgs Fall in Love? and explain if you agree with his arguments.

We’re viewing two TED talks and reading an opinion editorial (op-ed) about cyborgs, relationships, and connectedness.
Sherry Turkle TED talk “Connected, but alone?” (short video, TEDx)
Amber Case, TED talk “We are all cyborgs now.” (short video, TEDx)
“Can Cyborgs Fall in Love?” (Craig Malkin, short article in Psychology Today online)
After watching the two videos, I would like you to respond to Malkin’s op-ed. Do you agree with his arguments? You do not need to address this in a formal argumentative manner (although you can, if you like). Feel free to respond with narratives and descriptions of your own experiences (stories). Think about the definition of cyborg that these speakers/writers are forwarding. How do they differ? How are they similar? Malkin’s op-ed is a direct response to Case’s TED talk about wormholes and he also invokes Turkle’s work that is summarized in her TED talk. How does he shape or alter their words to his own views? Do you reject the idea that you are a cyborg, an argument that Case forwards? Do you agree with Malkin that the cyborg is a “crudely pixelated” version of the whole human self, or do you have a different idea?
