Read a biographical or autobiographical text that summarizes the leadership philosophy of an exemplary leader. The assignment includes writing an in-depth analysis of the leader and his/her approach to leading.
Analysis should include:

Final Paper Assignment:
Using weeks 1-5, design a realistic study to assess the relationship between age, race/ethnicity, and crime. Include in your paper, a definition of the dependent and independent variable and how you would operationalize them. Then, indicate what methodology your research would employ, describing what types of data, sampling and measurements you would use as well as the justifications for these selections. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your design and how does it build upon the empirical literature to date? Finally, what do you expect to find?

Submit a three-page essay on any topic in traditional Chinese history. Material can come from readings done for this course or from other sources. This assignment can take the form of a synthesizing and analyzing essay, listing observations you’ve noted in the readings—the changing role of women in traditional Chinese society, for example—or a descriptive essay about a particular topic, such as the purpose of the Great Wall.

Select the population and sample that is the focus of the action research project.
Describe the method of research to be applied and why it is most appropriate for the study. Describe the population, the sample, and how you intend to gather data to address the research problem.

Use three texts: movie Amelie, The Metamorphosis and The Love Song (poem)Society, in order to preserve a sense of uniformity, seems to undermine individuality and engender the alienation of those who strive to be different. Through our readings, we have discussed how characters are affected by social conformity and how, more often than not, they find themselves isolated and dehumanized, and at best, misunderstood.
How do people then define their place in society? What are the consequences and implications of resistance to the social forces that uphold conformity? Ultimately, is there a possible balance between our desire to be ourselves and resistance to social conformism, and these social forces? If yes, how is this balance maintained? If no, what happens to our individuality?
Discuss in your essay, how social conformity and nonconformist behavior are represented. You must address either Mrs Dalloway or Amelie, and you need to choose at least one poem, and one novel or short stories. All in all, you should cover at least THREE of our readings, and demonstrate how the various characters struggle to preserve their identity against social conventions, and the consequences of their resistance or compliance.
