In your essay you’ll analyze your chosen articles by contrasting them with each other and with the class reading on Columbus by Lames Loewen. The idea here is to explore how a historical person/event has been and continues to be interpreted in many different ways, for many different purposes. In other words, you’re describing how the different authors (and perhaps the particular populations they represent) describe Columbus and his achievements. You could also compare their depictions of Native Americans and/or the early contacts and interactions between Native Americans and Europeans.
