Discuss Corporate Social Responsibility

This is a discussion questions

There is no doubt that many for-profit, commercial organizations are completing wonderful service projects and acting as responsible corporate citizens in the communities they serve. The Socialbrite website suggests four examples:

Molson/Coors is supporting responsible drinking.
Tyson Foods is fighting childhood hunger.
Haagen Dazs is raising awareness about the loss of honeybees.
Waste Management funded a green website called Greenopolis.
This is a three part question. Please make sure you address all parts.

Part 1: Are these examples of companies that want to do the right thing for society, or is it about good public relations and the bottom line? Is corporate social responsibility good for business or are they driven by altruistic goals and sincere motivations?
Part 2: Does a company need a corporate social responsibility policy or agenda?
Part 3: If you were designing a corporate social responsibility campaign, project or strategy, what would you do to ensure it does not appear to be hollow, self-serving, and inauthentic?
Note: When forming your opinion and presenting your ideas, remember to provide evidence (e.g. an authoritative source) and share examples that support your point of view.

Discuss publication In Media Res

Length: 500-750 words; 3 to 5 paragraphs

This project is modeled on the format of the online publication In Media Res, seen here: http://mediacommons.futureofthebook.org/imr/ .

For this project, you will choose a short visual or auditory text (video clip, commercial, photograph, song, cartoon, piece of music, speech, etc.). It must be 3 minutes or less. It must not replicate anything we have read or viewed for class.

Explain it using one of the methods of theorizing work suggested by John Budd in the article that has also been posted. He argues that work may be seen from a variety of different perspectives, including the following:

1. Work as a Commodity (Marx)
2. Occupational Citizenship (work/government – rights for workers)
3. Disutility (workbad; leisuregood)
4. Personal Fulfillment (psychological outcomes of work)
5. Social Relation (social class, power)
6. Caring for Others (unpaid work mainly done by women)

Discuss the Glass of menagerie

For your assignment, I would like you to step into the character of Tom, Amanda, Laura, or Jim. We only know of them from what tom winfield has presented to us in Tennessee williams memory play, The glass of menagerie. If you will, select a character and analyze him or her as you see the character portrayed with a fresh view of your own. this may or may not agree with the way tom sees and presents the character in the play. In any case, your understanding and analysis of the character (i.e., the point of view or voice) should be in third person perspective, to convert an essence of objectivity and credibility which will be further enhanced by your use of facts from the play.

PS. I have pics of the play/story in the book i must use for the paper. once i pick a writer i will send those pics to you for you to use to write the paper. THANKS!

Discuss The Chimney Sweeper by Robery Blake

I need a Thesis and Outline along with the Essay itself.
The Thesis and Outline need to separate. Need it to be analyzed.
Consider the following questions for the poem that you have chosen:
What is or are the theme(s) of the poem?
Is there a literal setting or situation in the poem? What lines from the poem tell the reader this information? What details does the author include?
Is the setting symbolic?
How would you describe the mood of the poem? What elements contribute to this mood?
Is the title significant to the poems content or meaning? How?
What major literary devices and figures of speech does the poet use to communicate the theme(s)?
How are rhyme and other metrical devices used in the poem? Do they support the poems overall meaning? Why or why not?
Is the identity of the poems narrator clear? How would you describe this person? What information, if any, does the author provide about him or her?
Does the narrator seem to have a certain opinion of or attitude about the poems subject matter? How can you tell?
