‘Saudi students’ experience of adaptation and acculturation of the United Kingdom’.

((Your proposal is interesting but I would not be willing to supervise it without some changes. Would you be willing to study acculturation of international students using social psychology theories of acculturation or the ABC model of cross-cultural interaction rather than stereotypes? In my opinion, this would give you a very suitable theoretical basis, a good understanding of the needs of international students and some very useful information for educators. These theories are described in some of the chapters available in the e-book called Online Readings in Psychology and Culture provided by the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology. Here is the link to the e-book http://scholarworks.gvsu.edu/orpc/contents.html
There are several chapters in the section called Sub-unit 8.1 Acculturation and Adapting to other Cultures.  I especially recommend that you read the chapter by Yuko Nippoda regarding Japanese students acculturation to the UK education system. It appears to describe some of the issues you discuss in your proposal. You will find a brief description of the ABC model of cross-cultural interaction in Stephen Bochner’s chapter. Also, you will find some guidance about theories and different types of questionnaires in the chapter about Assessment of Acculturation))

What makes a good children’s story?

This assignment has TWO main parts:

Part 1: Discuss the following: Your understanding (or not) of the course material. Your sense of how you are progressing with respect to the course goals or other considerations important to you. Any insights you have about how you interact with mass media, how mass media may or may not affect your thinking (does it inspire you, depress you, etc.?).

Part 2: What makes a good children’s story? Everyone had a favorite book as a kid – You know, that tattered old thing you carried from room to room and made your parents read out loud to you over and over again. The one that you quoted until you were a little too old to be doing so. Our lives were shaped in part by the literature we loved as children.

answer the following: (1) What was your favorite children’s book (we’re not talking about young adult fiction here)? Think back to when you were 8 or younger to answer this question. You might consider books read to you by relatives, friends or teachers, or the first books you read on your own. (2) What made it so special? (3) What do you remember about reading or having it read to you?
