One thing we find when we study history is that history tends to repeat itself. Even though it seems that the issues facing our country today are new and unique, a study of history would suggest otherwise. When one starts to recognize the patterns and cyclical nature of history, it makes the subject all the more fascinating. Keep this in mind while researching and writing this paper!
If you look at the issues that are brought forth and highlighted by a presidential election, you will find a synopsis of what was significant and relevant for that historical time frame. For this project, I want you to choose a presidential election from the time period (1796-1876). Your task is to research and analyze the election while drawing comparisons to modern-day elections. Some questions to consider when researching and writing the paper are as follows:
What were the candidate’s backgrounds?

What were some of the major social and political issues surrounding the election?

What strategies did each candidate adhere to when running their campaign?

What effective use of propaganda did they utilize?

What ultimately affected the outcome the most?

Compare and contrast this election to recent presidential elections.

You are to thoroughly discuss what you discover in a 4-5 page (body) typewritten document.

Many people think that a book review consists of a Reader’s Digest type summary of the book. This is not the case. A book review contains a brief presentation of the main ideas of the book, but it is much more than a summary of the book. It provides a context for understanding the book and a critique of the content.

Research and analyze the quality philosophies of W. Edwards Deming, Joseph Moses Juran, Philip Bayard Crosby, Lewis Ireland, and the Project Management Institute with regard to their definitions of quality, their system or approach to quality, their performance standard, their way of measuring quality, how they see the role of top management in addressing quality, and how they see the role of the worker in addressing quality.
Choose the quality philosophy that you feel is most relevant for industry today and state your premise. Substantiate your premise with referenced citations. Be sure to compare in your focus paper each dimension of quality. Write your focus paper according to APA format using citations/examples to substantiate your position and give credit to your references. Be sure to synthesize your analysis as a conclusion and then evaluate your synthesis with alternate references/sources. Be sure to address each and every criterion in the grading rubric.

Compare/contrast how your idea of “home” has changed since you were a child. You will need to discuss both your perspective of home as a child and how as an adult. You need to have two specific ideas with this option. If your idea has not changed, this will not be the best option to pick from. You will want to include both the similarities and differences of your perspective in your paper.
Points to consider for this option include: Be sure to include idea definition of “home” as both a child and as an adult. This should be clear and done in the introduction. You will need to have a clear thesis statement indicating the change in perspective. Your idea of home could be a physical house, the community you grew up in, the state you live in, your sense of nationalism, your relationship with your family, or whatever you classify as home. Provide details indicating why you classify this as home. Include your feelings, not just physical descriptions. How has your idea of home influenced you and why do you think your ideas have changed? Write this essay in first person voice.
Paper Structure:
You will need to have an introductory paragraph that tells us what your purpose is and what items you selected. You will end this introductory paragraph with a clear thesis statement that will state what you plan to compare in contrast about the items you selected.
Depending on how you organize your paper, your body paragraphs may differ. You may select either the block method or the point-by-point method to organize your body paragraphs. Whatever method of organization that you chose, you will have multiple paragraphs that compare and contrast the ideas set forth in your thesis.
