Assignment 2: Literary Analysis
The major assignment for this week is to compose a word essay on a central theme that appears in one of the selected reading: Candide. In this paper you will write an in-depth analysis using your own ideas and excerpts from the text in the form of quotes, paraphrase, or summary.
As you prepare to write this essay, make sure you understand what you are being asked to do.
Topic
• Good and evil in Candide: Voltaire’s character, Candide, is naïvely innocent to the corruptness of the world, and, as he comes of age, he struggles to remain optimistic in the face of evil. Although raised to believe in goodness over evil, during his travels, Candide suffers a loss of innocence when he witnesses horrific acts of cruelty, natural disasters, and experiences human suffering. Afterwards, he grapples with the problem of evil and questions the existence of a benevolent God. Examine representations of good and evil in Candide and elaborate on the character’s loss of innocence and his struggle to remain optimistic.

Describe a Significant Clinical Issue (graded)
1. Reflect on your practice and identify a significant clinical issue that you would like to search for evidence in online sources. This issue will be the basis for the Research Database Assignment that you will submit Week 4. Describe what makes your issue significant, for example, the seriousness, the number of people affected, the gaps in knowledge, and so forth. Remember to integrate references.
For this question you need to identify a significant issue that you see within your own workplace. This is probably one of the most important questions you will respond to in this course as the issue you identify will serve as the basis for your PICO question (on our 2nd forum this week) AND your Research Database assignment that you will create in this class (and eventually take with you to your Capstone course).

Formulate Searchable Clinical Questions (graded)

2. Read the assigned case study and formulate searchable, clinical questions in the PICO(T) format. There are several potential questions that could be asked. Identify if the focus of your question is assessment, etiology, treatment, or prognosis. Remember to integrate references.

For this particular discussion question, you will craft one PICO based on the Week 2 Case Study.

Discuss one U.S. law that supports ethical decision-making and explain how self-awareness of the law fits your personal belief system about informatics in health care delivery during a mass casualty or disaster communications crisis.

Explain one moral dilemma that would affect your ethical decision-making during a disaster and how you plan to control for personal bias.

Research communication and information technology change models that can support security policies, procedures, and recovery plans for data and service delivery.
Combine several models and convince colleagues that this combined model is the best one to keep communication systems and information operating during a disaster.

A terror attack has disabled the internet and all communications to and from U.S. health systems. Discuss how to design and test a disaster recovery plan that includes data safety, storage, and recovery that would have continued the delivery of informatics services during a terror attack. Include the role of an informatics leader and change agent from an ethical-legal point of view and evaluate how you would act during a time of scarce resources that vulnerable populations rely on during a health crisis.

The paper will include a brief history of the conflict
The paper will analyze the dynamics of the conflict by applying at least two theories:
1) Social Theory of Realism
&
2) Theory of Print culture in relation to understanding ethnonationalism versus islamism
Please include theoretical, historical, and analysis sections will need to have 8 sources from peer-reviewed journal articles relating to the conflict.
Last section will discuss the policy implications of the theories utilized to explain or understand the conflict.

B) show the ability to acquire a knowledge of the history and the dynamics of the conflict using appropriate sources
c) demonstrate ability to grasp the policy implications of different theories

For this paper, you are to play the role of an adviser to the United Nations. Students will each choose a particular African country. You will read through the millennium goals listed on the on the United Nations website(https://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/) and then look at the individual country on the Millennium goal fact sheet(https://mdgs.un.org/unsd/mdg/Data.aspx). Keep in mind that you will need to assess the goals based on your personal experience, the knowledge you gain from this course, and current news sources for the final paper.
Instructions
After reviewing the millennium goals listed for that particular country, submit a proposal that includes the following:
The country you have selected

The reasons why you have selected to study that country

An explanation of the socioeconomic status of the country

An overview of some general facts about the country (history, politics, language, geography, etc.)

Write a narrative description of your field project by doing the following:

B. Assessment

1. Describe the community where you performed your fieldwork by identifying each of the following items:

• geographical area (e.g., county, city, town)

• area size

• population size

• demographics

• physical and social environment (use the windshield survey from task 1 of C228)

2. Discuss the health concern you studied in your fieldwork.

a. Provide background information in relation to Healthy People 2020 and local public health data that characterizes the health concern.

b. Provide data from national, state, and/or local levels related to the health concern.

3. Describe the target population affected by the health concern you studied in your fieldwork, including each of the following components:

• gender (both Male, Female)

• age -children

• demographics, including socioeconomic status and educational level

a. Explain how the health concern is linked to a health inequity/health disparity for the population of interest.

i. Provide specific data to support the health inequity/disparity conclusion.

4. Discuss the primary community resources and partners currently involved with the health concern.

5. Discuss aspects of the population health concern not being addressed despite the efforts of the partners involved.
