this is my scenario
According to the U.S. Justice Department, in 2003 about 10.4% of all African American men between the ages of 25 to 29 were incarcerated, as compared to 2.4% of Hispanic men and 1.2% of nonHispanic White men. What is going on here? Why are Black men in this age group so much more likely to be in jail than are people of White or Latino descent? Research the incidents of criminal prosecution, convictions, prison sentences, and time served by race and ethnicity for all three—African American, Hispanic, and White men. What factors or variables are associated with who gets involved in crime, why, and what happens to them in the criminal justice system? Also look into how many judges, lawyers, and lawmakers are White compared with those who are African American. What does this tell us about structured inequality?
Explain which topic scenario you selected, why you chose it, and why this topic is important to the study of cultural diversity.
Briefly discuss what you expect to find (or what you would be interested in learning through your research) and how you intend to go about your research.

Benchmarking

Benchmarking
Paper details

We learn from the success of others…benchmarking is the method to study the success of other companies!

Benchmarking, as the text points out, is one of the more popular techniques for improving a sales organization. But don’t think it’s limited to just sales. Taking a close look at your competitor and their best practices can improve the overall performance of your company. Benchmarking should be an ongoing measurement and analysis process that compares an organization’s current operating practices with the “best practices” used by world-class organizations. It should be a tool for evaluating current business practices and finding a way to do them better, more quickly, less expensively to better meet customer needs and increase profitability.

There are companies that I use to benchmark in the broadcasting industry. I think my company is doing a lot of the right things, but I know I can learn a lot from other companies in my sector. In some cases I learn from companies that are doing a poor job! I learn from companies that aren’t doing it right! I learn from their mistakes or poor performance!

For this assignment, I want you to choose a company that’s a leader in their respective sector. It might be the retail, manufacturing, or service industry. A few examples/sectors: Coffee-Starbuck’s or Tim Horton’s, Manufacturing-Ford or Apple, Retail-Nordstrom’s or Macy’s, Airlines-Southwest or Virgin, Food-Whole Foods, etc. Or it might be your company.

In the paper I want you to describe what makes the company the best in their sector. What are their sales? What are their best practices? What are they doing better than everyone else in the sector? What makes them a leader? Why is their management so much better? Why are their products so much better? Why do they make more money than their competitors?

As an example…if you’re going to use Starbuck’s as being first in class, go to their website…use sales data, tell me about their culture…tell me what you’ve learned and how you’ll compete against them if you were going to open The Daily Grind to compete against them. Every business should have something that makes them unique and points that differentiate them from the competition…what are yours? You can use a national company or one that you work for. As the reader, tell me the things I’d use in benchmarking.

Why do you believe each culture undertook the creation of your selected monumental work of architecture and sculpture despite the difficulties of accomplishing them? What can we assume about a work of art without such knowledge?

Question 1:

We have continued our study of the art created by cultures outside of the West. Like those we studied last week, many of the cultures studied this week also created monumental works of architecture, but often for very different reasons than what we saw last week. In 3 well-developed paragraphs locate 2 specific examples of monumental architecture created by 2 different cultures we studied this week and discuss:

Why do you believe each culture undertook the creation of your selected monumental work of architecture and sculpture despite the difficulties of accomplishing them? What can we assume about a work of art without such knowledge?
How do the reasons for their works compare with those of a more modern example of monumental art work, such as Mount Rushmore, the 9/11 Memorial, etc.?
Be sure to explain your ideas clearly and support them by discussing specific works of art that you have read about this week, talking about how they illustrate and support your ideas.
