Trends in Healthcare Services

You are a member of a presidential commission appointed to consider a mandatory national health insurance plan and the question of how to fund the plan is being discussed.

Specifically, three separate options are being considered to generate an average of $4,000 per worker—a flat mandatory premium, a doubling of the current 7.65% payroll tax that comes out of people’s pay to cover social security and Medicare, and a 7% increase in income tax.

Think about funding plans from the perspective of three workers:

One who makes $25,000 per year
One who makes the same in salary but also has $1,000 in investment income
One who makes $85,000 per year, including $10,000 in investment income

Based on the above scenario, answer the following questions:

Which of the three funding measures, considering the relative financial contributions it imposes on individuals such as these, would you support and why?
How has the emergence of different types of health insurance plans—FFS, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), preferred provider organizations (PPOs), and capitation—affected the trends in healthcare services today?
What economic and societal factors affect the demand and pricing of healthcare services in today’s health insurance market?

Throughout the past several decades, the understanding of how we learn has been defined and redefined. Evaluate and comment on social learning theory and Bloom’s taxonomy. Analyze how each incorporate cognitivism and constructivism into their frameworks. Demonstrate an understanding of how at least two of these theories may have contributed to the focus on the more recent theories of emotional intelligence, metacognition, and motivation (i.e., self-determination).

Assignment 1: Discussion – Separation and Retention

This assignment is designed to integrate the reflection of personal experience, and the information covered in the textbook. Using what you have learned about Juanita, answer the following questions:

Should Juanita attempt to reduce voluntary and involuntary turnover?
A risk of disciplining employees is that some may retaliate. To avoid that risk, what organizational policies might encourage high-performing employees to stay while encouraging low-performing employees to leave?
To what extent are exit interviews meaningful and what kind of opinions should you attempt to capture? How are these opinions relevant to employee separation and retention?

You have asked your intern to sort through all the employee files and make sure that all documents are in the proper folders.

To assist the intern, construct a guide that lists which documents are to be filed together and which are to be in separate files.
Include the length of time that material should be saved so old information can be removed.
Use the library, Internet, and other resources to research your response.

Prepare a brief, 2-3 page, paper outlining the major monetary poicy actions used by the Federal Reserve over the past few years.In general, have these actions helped the US construction industry? Explain.

The goal is to examine statements critically, looking for logical flaws.

In your post, address the following questions:

What logical fallacies are represented in the advertisements you found?
What are some reasons for your skepticism?
Based upon your examination, how would you redo the advertisement to make it more truthful? Would this be possible?

Write your initial response in a minimum of 200 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

By Saturday, August 15, 2015, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through Wednesday, August 19, 2015, review the postings of your peers and respond to at least two of them. Consider commenting on the following:

Do the advertisement examples fit the logical fallacies stated? Explain.
Could there be other logical fallacies involved in these examples?
Do you think that advertising would be more effective if it relied more upon truthful arguments and less on logical fallacies? Explain.

Review the article entitled, “Can we talk?” and Section 2.2 of our text titled “Biological Sex and Gender.” Based on what you’ve learned in these readings, write a two-page paper (excluding title and reference pages) about your thoughts on this article. In your paper, be sure to address the following:

• Can you relate to this article on self-disclosure in relationships? If so, explain what specifically you could relate to and provide examples of your own experiences. If not, what has your experience been regarding self-disclosure in your intimate relationships?

Analyze, identify, and explain the systems of the body that are affected by these changes.

Provide at least three specific examples of how these physical conditions can affect daily living.

Explain how a person’s day to day life could be affected by these changes. Explain the modifications that a person may need to make as a result of these changes

Describe the eights stages of Erikson’s model.

Relate the physical impairments that occur on the body to Erik Erikson’s model of human development. Explain the strengths and weaknesses of Erik Erikson’s model. Compare Erik Erikson’s model with another model of aging.
