Read Case #19- Delta Airlines and the Trainer Refinery and answer the following questions (each question its own subsection):

1. What drives the basic economies of the airline industry? The refining industry?
2. How is Delta different from other airlines?
3. How would owing the Trainer Refinery help Delta manage its fuel costs in the future? Is this offset by operation cost?
4. What impact does buying an oil refinery have on Delta as a company? Is this a good strategic move? Why/why not?
5. How does the merger between Delta and Virgin Airlines impact the company as a whole? (outside research required).

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK): This framework demonstrates the combination of content expertise, information delivery expertise (pedagogy), and instructional technology implementation all used to enhance learning.

As explained in your textbook, TPACK combines pedagogical knowledge, content knowledge, and technological knowledge to transform learning opportunities into student-centered opportunities for lesson engagement, global connections, and web interfacing through 21st century technology advancements. The TPACK framework demonstrates the interplay of three knowledge bases:

Pedagogical Content Knowledge: This area is where most teachers have their foundation as a content expert who delivers knowledge using the foundations of pedagogy.
Technological Content Knowledge: This area includes making content more accessible and differentiated through technology including graphing calculators, online language translators, and virtual world tours.
Technological Pedagogical Knowledge: This area involves advanced learning processes through the use of technology that contribute to a wider variety of differentiated instructional opportunities including iPads that have text to speech programs, SMARTboard with text magnification, and online educational games that provide immediate feedback.

Assignment Instructions

Using the classroom environment and the demographics created in Week Two, the instructional strategies that align with the CCSS in the blog created in Week Three, the unit plan created in Week Four, and the summative assessment created in Week Five, you will create the framework for a TPACK lesson plan.

Application: Evaluating an Addictions Assessment Tool

Addictions professionals can choose from many types of tools. Addictions assessments are divided into screening and assessment tools. Addictions screening tools are meant to determine if an addiction might be a possibility; they are not intended to diagnose. Addictions professionals use them to gain a basic idea of an individual’s orientation to an addiction. Addictions assessment tools are typically geared toward detecting dependence on or addiction to a specific, identified substance or behavior. These tools are broader in scope and often take special training and considerable time to administer.

The difficulty often is not in finding a tool to use with a client, but rather in choosing the most effective and appropriate tool from a wide variety. Though choices of screening and assessment tools is often made by the organization in which an addictions professional works, many considerations including cost, time to administer, training, and accuracy enter into the selection of the right test for each individual with a potential substance or process addiction. Thus, it is important that addictions professionals be familiar with the tools available to them and understands the effectiveness of these tools in assessing what they are intended to assess.

In this Assignment, you select one assessment tool from several well-known addictions assessment tools and research and provide an evaluation of its purpose, administration, and efficacy.

Develop a comprehensive code of Ethics that you feel should be adopted throughout this nation. Write it up, explain it, and submit it to me as an attachment.

Creating a Culture of Evidence-Based Practice

An abundance of evidence can be found on almost any medical issue or health topic. Often, the availability of information is not the concern, but rather nurses struggle with how to convey the evidence to others and change practices to better reflect the evidence. Deep-rooted organizational cultures and policies can make some resistant to change, even to changes that can vastly improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of health care. However, there are many strategies that nurses can employ to bring about changes to practice.

In this Discussion, you focus on how to create an organizational culture that supports evidence-based practice.

To prepare:

Review the information in this week’s Learning Resources. Examine the various suggestions for promoting an organizational culture that embraces the use of EBP.
Reflect on your own organization’s (or one in which you have worked) support of evidence-based practice. Examine how culture and policies impact the adoption of changes to practice based on evidence. What barriers exist? (I work at a 75 bed rural hospital. I am the Director of a Med/Surgical Unit)
Consider the models and suggestions for promoting evidence-based practice featured in this week’s Learning Resources. Identify models and suggestions that would work well in your organization.
Reflect on the significance of evidence-based practice in health care. What responsibility do nurses have to promote EBP and change practices to better reflect evidence and research findings?
Reflect on how nurses can disseminate findings from evidence-based practice research.

Assignment 1: LASA 2: Investigation of Identity Theft or Fraud

Here’s What Happened . . .

Jane pays a few personal bills from her computer at home and at work. The next day, she receives an e-mail at work, requesting her to confirm her Social Security number so that one of her payments can be executed. Jane provides the information against her better judgment.

Within one week, Jane notices a dramatic increase in her credit card balance. She also starts receiving strange telephone calls from vendors about bills she did not create. Worse, a Secret Service special agent visits Jane at work and questions her about making threatening calls to a political figure.

Jane is convinced that her identity has been compromised and informs the Secret Service special agent everything that occurred within the past week. Jane is not sure whether her home or work computer was compromised but shows the special agent the e-mail she received one week before about her Social Security number.

Outsourcing

Outsourcing, especially to low labor-cost countries, has grown substantially. Be sure to address the following in your paper:

Analyze the trade-offs between inputs for the productivity improvements.
Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of global sourcing versus producing in the U.S.
Describe a product or service of a specific low-labor-cost country as an example.
Include a recommendation of a low-labor-cost country based on inputs, trade-offs, and going global advantages.

You will select a company from this list, and you will analyze the company’s financial performance, highlighting accounting principles and methods learned in this course. This project requires you to present, review, and analyze the organization’s published annual reports and related footnotes for the last 2 years. Specifically, your paper will cover the following:

Consider the following scenario: The General Secretary of the FDA has tasked you with developing an educational flier on the nutritional needs for a specific stage of life.

Research your topicusingonline sources, such as the Food and Drug Administration or the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and local sources, such as farmers’ markets, for content and nutrition suggestion for the ad.

Create a public service ad, with appropriate images, to be printed in the Sunday edition of your newspaper. Include the following points:

Identify the nutritional needs for a developing embryo and fetus and how to obtain them.
Identify health concerns or disease associated with poor nutrition during the gestation period.
Provide examples of good and bad nutritional choices for baby and mom.
Once the baby is born, address the pros and cons of breastfeeding versus formula-feeding.
Make recommendations for where readers might search for more information regarding nutrition. Remember to determine and choose credible sources of nutritional information.
