Proposals must include a plan for determining the degree to which objectives are met and methods are followed. This section is extremely important as funders pay particular attention to evaluation methods, since they need help determining whether a proposed project represents an intelligent investment for them. The evaluation section should meet the following criteria:

Presents a plan for evaluating accomplishment of objectives
Presents a plan for evaluating and modifying methods over the course of the program
Explains who will be doing the evaluation and how they were chosen
Clearly states evaluation criteria
Describes how data will be gathered
Explains any test instruments or questionnaires to be used
Describes the process of data analysis
Shows how evaluation will be used for program improvements
Describes any evaluation reports to be produced

For this Discussion, keep these evaluation criteria in mind as you review the two grant applications listed in the Learning Resources. Two applications were submitted. Only one can receive the grant funds. Based on the information you have available, and using the evaluation rubric for each grant application, determine which one of the grants you believe should receive funding.

With these thoughts in mind:

Give three reasons why you selected the grant that you choose to fund and two reasons why you chose not to fund the other grant. Then, briefly explain two grant-writing strategies that you might recommend to improve the unsuccessful proposal.

Analyze Energy Sources Lab

Everything people do in their daily lives involves the consumption of resources—particularly energy. With respect to energy, electricity is one of the most important resources consumed and also one of the highest in demand. Traditionally, fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil have dominated the U.S. energy mix; however, as it is well-known, carbon-emitting energy sources are very detrimental to the environment and are contributing to global warming. Fortunately, alternative energy resources such as solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power are becoming more efficient and prevalent in today’s energy economy.

Assignment

It is the year 2325. You are a prominent archaeologist who has just been summoned to a dig site because your colleagues have made a unique discovery: a time capsule from the 1960s that was buried long ago. Very carefully, you and your colleagues unearth and open this time capsule. Inside the time capsule you find five items that define the era of the 1960s.

For this Assignment write a brief paper that covers the following:

1. Describe each of the five items you have found.

2. Explain why each of these is especially important in defining the era of the 1960s.

3. Based upon these items you have found, conclude your paper with a solid paragraph that explains one major lesson that you have learned from the 1960s.

Hint: The objects you find in your time capsule do not necessarily have to be material items, but can also be events, trends, fads, etc. For example, your time capsule may contain assassinations, the Vietnam War, or the women’s movement. Also, feel free to be creative with the types of items that you find. For example, perhaps you have found a letter written by an antiwar protester to the government, or a song by famous 1960s musician, or perhaps a piece of artwork by a famous 1960s visual artist.

The total length of your paper should be 7 pages formatted in APA style. The first page is a title page. Page 7 is a reference page and ages 2 through 6 are text. You should have a total of four references, at least one of which should be outside of the course materials. Please use only academic resources. Also, remember to use Times New Roman 12-point font, set margins to one inch, and double space your paper.

Blending and Adapting the Approaches

By this point, you should have a solid foundational understanding of the five approaches to qualitative research. In this Discussion, you will take your knowledge a step further by discussing how the approaches might be blended or adapted to suit particular research questions or topics.
