Complete federal income tax forms for a married couple (information provided in Appendix A under the Appendix and Forms section below). It is up to the student which forms are used from the following list (blank copies of all forms are available by following the weblink in your classroom):

Upon completing the return, the student will submit a three to six page paper describing why they chose the forms and how the federal income tax return forms work. The student will submit both the tax return (all forms used) and the paper to their instructor. The Tax Return Paper must reflect college-level writing and thinking, and will contribute 15% to the course grade.

Option #1: Reader-Response Essay

Read “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” by Gabriel García Márquez (in the course textbook and attached below). Reflect and respond to the story in a 3- to 4-page reader-response essay.

Remember that reader-response essays are less formal than other types of academic writing. You may use the personal pronoun “I” and may write about whatever strikes you from the story. You may also choose to write from one of the following prompts:

Explain how “good” and “evil” co-exist in this story, and which one you think wins out in the end. Use specific lines of text from the story to support your assertion.

Define presidential doctrine and summarize the regional or global events during the Cold War leading up to the formation of the presidential doctrine you wrote about in Assignment 1.

Assignment 3: Ethical Climate Survey

· A study by the U.S. Sentencing Commission recognized the importance of organizational culture and its impact on an organization’s commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with the law (LRN, 2006). Imagine that a business of your choosing is concerned about recent ethical breaches by its employees. The business has hired you as a consultant to evaluate the current ethical climate of the organization. The leadership has requested that you to develop a comprehensive survey that the business can use to determine the ethical climate of the organization. Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

In preparation for this assignment, read the article titled “Measuring Your Organization’s Climate for Ethics: The Survey Approach”. Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you:

Provide a brief (one [1] paragraph) description of the organization for which you are providing consulting services.
Recommend key steps that the organization can take to create a strong culture.
Develop an introduction paragraph to the survey explaining the tie between organizational culture and ethical conduct.
Designate at least two (2) groups within the organization who will take the survey, and provide a rationale as to why these two (2) groups should complete the survey.
Develop a one (1) paragraph invitation to participate in the survey explaining the purpose and intended use of the survey.
Develop criteria for conducting the ethical climate survey of the organization. The criteria should identify:
Who the target audience is;

The following are psychological types of victims:

The Depressed. These victims may suffer from a disturbance of the instinct of self-preservation. Without such an instinct, the individual may be easily overwhelmed or surprised by dangers or enemies.
The Acquisitive. This type of person makes an excellent victim. The excessive desire for gain eclipses intelligence, business experience, and inner impediments.
The Wanton. Often, a sensual or wanton disposition requires other concurrent factors to become activated. Loneliness, alcohol, and certain critical phases are process-accelerators of this type of victim.
The Lonesome and Heartbroken. Loneliness causes criminal mental facilities to be weakened. These individuals become easy prey for criminals. The heartbroken victims are dazed by their loss, and therefore become easy targets for a variety of “death rackets” that might, for example, charge a widow an outlandish fee for a picture of her late husband to be included in his biography.
The Tormentor. This victim becomes a perpetrator. This is the psychotic father who may abuse his wife and children for a number of years until one of the children grows up and, under extreme provocation, kills him.
The Blocked, Exempted, and Fighting. The blocked victim is so enmeshed in such a losing situation that defensive moves become impossible. This is a self-imposed form of helplessness and an ideal condition for a victim from the point of view of the criminal.
The Activating Sufferer. This occurs when the victim is transformed into a perpetrator. A number of factors operate as activators on the victim, such as certain predispositions, age, alcohol, and loss of self-confidence.

Assignment 2: Project Team and Stakeholder Management – Essay

Read the project case for this assignment.

As the project manager for the District 4 Warehouse Move project, you will need to determine who your stakeholders and project team members are for this project. Remember that anyone connected to the project who has an interest or stake in the project should be considered as a stakeholder. This would include the project team, vendors and management among possible others.

World War II left no country untouched. The fighting left whole continents battered and devastated. Cities were flattened, and hundreds of thousands were displaced from their homes.
