Discussion 1: Ethics in the Workplace

Analyze 2 of the following ethical scenarios:

Although John is an honest employee who never takes money from the company cash box, he uses the company car to run personal errands while making sales-rounds. Is this unethical behavior? If so, why? If not, why not?

Betty is a high producing, devoted employee who might work overtime in an emergency. She tells her boss that she got caught in traffic upon arriving late the next day, when in fact, she overslept. Is this unethical behavior? If so, why? If not, why not?

Suzy is a sympathetic employee who knows a co-worker is operating a small business on the side (often using company office equipment and paper) but says nothing. Is this unethical behavior? If so, why? If not, why not?

Noticing her supervisor, a young married man, taking her co-worker, Joanna, who was divorced, home two nights in succession, Diane decided something was going on between them. Without any malicious intent, Diane introduced the matter into the local grapevine and, as so often happens, the rumor got out of hand. Is this unethical behavior? If so, why? If not, why not?

Discussion 2: Globalization

Describe how globalization has changed the way American companies are doing business. In what ways do you believe this change has benefited American organizations and/or their customers? Are there ways in which organizations and their customers have been adversely effected? Explain.

Project Risks Identification
Start brainstorming, at a high level, on some categories where risk could occur in this project (Note: you will continue this brainstorming activity in the next week with specifics, likelihood, and impact).

Suppose the VoIP project sponsor wants you to present the project to the board of directors. Particularly, the sponsor would like you to discuss the quality of the project. It is worth noting that during the deployment of the VoIP system the quality control team tracked forty (40) of the deployments. The following problems were documented:

Five (5) of the deployments experienced delays due to the unique configuration of the office space which required modification to install the proper wiring.
Twelve (12) of the users called the help desk to get additional training on the new system.
Two (2) of the new devices were defective.

Prepare a fifteen to twenty (15-20) slide digital presentation with the software of your choice (e.g., PowerPoint, Google slides, Prezi, etc.) in which you:

Explain quality and its importance to project success.
Explain quality management planning.
Contrast quality assurance and quality control.
Describe the different quality activities involved in this project and each of their outcomes.
Describe Pareto diagrams and their use in project management.

Identify the eight stages of psychosocial development, and provide a global overview of the stages.
Identify the critical psychosocial dilemma faced in each stage.
For each stage’s dilemma, describe a specific behavior (either of an individual or parents of an individual) that would likely result in a successful outcome. Describe a specific behavior that could contribute to an unsuccessful outcome of that stage.
Present an argument on the validity of Erikson’s psychosocial stages in terms of your life. Refer generally to your own experiences (that is, without revealing intimate, personal details). Explain whether you think the stages are relevant. Justify your response.

Instructional Plan Design Analysis

Three instructional plan templates constructed by a variety of leaders in education provide solid examples of what quality instructional plans should include. The work of Madeline Hunter dates the furthest back and is still used today, primarily in the elementary setting. Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe provide a more modern approach to curriculum and lesson design with their model of Understanding by Design (UbD). Others, as modeled by the New York State Educational Department, work closely to align their instructional plans with the Common Core State Standards.

Review each of the provided instructional plan designs:

Analyze each instructional plan and structure a Word document, essay-style as such:

Introduction: Introduce the essential elements, purpose, and value of creating and following a high-quality instructional plan. Include a thesis stating your intent to highlight key elements of each respective plan as well as your intent to identify what you find to be the most effective plan while justifying your reasoning.

Body: Discuss the following for EACH instructional plan design. (Do not list—this is paragraph format without headings/subheadings.)

The source’s name (i.e.; Hunter).
Key components representing most essential instructional plan requirements (standard, objective, activities, assessments, etc.).
Unique components (What makes each plan different from the others? What is notably missing or added compared to the others?).
Description of how Gradual Release of Responsibility Model is or is not represented.
Description of how assessment is embedded and potentially supports informing a teacher of student mastery of the objective(s).
Evidence that the instruction plan stimulates critical thinking.

PROJECT MGMT Paper

In a 2-3 page paper (APA format) describe the differences between the top-down and the bottom-up budgeting process. Be sure to address when using one process might be better suited than use of the other.

1. Describe how conditioning explains changes in your own behavior that you have observed, at home. Provide two or three examples. Be sure to relate theory and research to your examples. Cite textbooks or articles to support your conclusions.

2. Find a peer-reviewed research study that addresses the theory or treatment of phobias that was published after 1990. Summarize the methods used and the conclusions made, and describe the key aspects of the research that reflect behaviorist principles.

3. Explain how behaviorism can still be relevant today. What are the limits of behaviorism? Are there processes that it does not explain well? For example, behaviorists believed that babies and children learned language through rewards and punishments, but today we know that language learning is a much more complex process. The behaviorist approach was not sufficient to explain the totality of language learning.

1.Describe a learning context of interest—for example, learning a foreign language, studying for an exam, or remembering names at a party. Feel free to use an example from one of the other assessments in the course. Describe the types of memory and learning involved and the memory and learning problems involved (for instance, problems with memory such as forgetting, amnesia, and the tip-of-the-tongue effect). Write up a case study where two people learn and experience a learning situation differently. Note that you can contrast circumstances involving memory deficits and also circumstances of exceptional performance.

2.Find at least three peer-reviewed research articles that help you understand individual learning differences. In other words, how could the result change due to individual differences such age, gender, or culture? Summarize these sources. Apply the scholarship you have found to explain how the individuals in your case study learn and remember differently. Describe the methods and measures used in research that seeks to understand individual learning differences.

3. How would you apply the knowledge you have gained regarding individual differences and learning and memory in your personal or professional life?
