Describes any voluminous amount of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data that has the potential to be mined for information.

consists of two parts a) CROWDSOURCING b) BIG DATA. You will upload two separate documents.

CROWDSOURCING: Today it is not unusual to see entrepreneurs rely on the crowd to seek financial assistance to support their business idea instead of going to a traditional financial investor, bank or seek venture capital. The entrepreneur uses his or her social networks and established platforms on the Internet to directly interact with the crowd. The term crowdsourcing was first introduced in 2005 by Howe and Robinson, editors at Wired, however, it is in recent years this form of funding has taken off. In 2013, crowd funding became a $5.1 billion industry and in 2014 the market grew to $16.2 billion and it is expected to exceed $34.4 billion by the end of 2015. In China alone, the crowd funding industry is expected to reach $50 billion by 2025. We are looking at a potential global crowd funding market of $90–96 billion by 2025.

As the Internet becomes more integrated into all of our lives, driven in large part through mobile and social, we will all become increasingly interconnected. Our new interconnected world will contain multiple networks that represent different dimensions of people’s lives – social (Facebook), business (LinkedIn), food (Allrecipes), wine (Vivino), travel (TripAdvisor), movies (Netflix), fitness (Runtastic) – and cross the digital-physical divide (The Internet of Things). Crowdsourcing sites like G2 Crowd will represent just one more type of network that will connect people with products and technology, telling you what products they used, what they thought of them, and what reviews they read, liked or shared. If you then link the crowdsourcing network to a business network like LinkedIn, you can connect companies to reviewers and bring with it lots of context that when comprehensively analyzed can transform your understanding of the reviews.

BIG DATA: is an evolving term that describes any voluminous amount of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data that has the potential to be mined for information. Although big data doesn’t refer to any specific quantity, the term is often used when speaking about petabytes and exabytes of data.

Measured in terms of volume, velocity, and variety, Big Data represents a major disruption in the business intelligence and data management landscape, upending fundamental notions about governance and IT delivery. With traditional solutions becoming too expensive to scale or adapt to rapidly evolving conditions, companies are scrambling to find affordable technologies that will help them store, process, and query all of their data. Innovative solutions will enable companies to extract maximum value from Big Data and create differentiated, more personal customer experiences.

Summarize the benefits of cohesive groups.

agine that you are the team leader for a project at work. Your team has been assigned with opening a new market in Canada. A few items have been shipped already, but the delivery time is too long because of what appears to be paperwork problems with customs. You have already received complaints from your representatives. This problem needs to be resolved quickly, or the company will be placed in a difficult position and may lose the opportunity to be successful in opening this market.

With this situation in mind, address the following:

  • Write a memo to attach to the agenda for a team meeting.
  • State the issues you know of.
  • Summarize the benefits of cohesive groups
  • Rank conflict-resolution techniques
  • Request that the team members come with ideas so this problem can be resolved at the meeting and implemented immediately.

Define the method called get StringInput( ) using the method header.

or this assignment, you will be adding additional logic to handle a few additional properties of the order, the simple validation of properties, and the total cost of the order, including sales tax. You will implement these new capabilities using methods that you create.

1. Define the method called getStringInput( ) using the method header:

private static String getStringInput(String prompt)

This method must do the following:

  • Use JOptionPane.showInputDialog( ) to display the prompt.
  • Check the value that is returned.
  • If the value is null, the program should terminate.
  • If the value is a nonempty string, that string should be returned as the value of the method.
  • Otherwise, this request sequence should be repeated up to 3 times.
  • If the customer has not entered a valid input by then, the program should make an appropriate comment and then terminate.

2. Replace your existing code that requests the customer’s name, return status, and color with calls to getStringInput( ).

3. Add a request for quantity, or the number of items that the customer wishes to order. Use getStringInput( ) to obtain this value from the customer. You will need to convert the quantity string into an int value. You should use the Integer.parseInt( ) method to accomplish this.

4. Create a method called totalCost( ) that calculates the total cost of an order. Use the following header:

private static double totalCost(int number, double cost, double salesTaxRate)

Number is the number of items (the quantity), cost is the unit cost (the cost of a single item), and salesTax is the sales tax rate. You should select a reasonable value for the unit cost (e.g., $10.00). You should select a reasonable value for the sales tax rate (e.g., 7%). Use your totalCost( ) method to calculate the total cost of the order.

5. Enhance your confirmation dialog so that it displays the entire order, including the name, the color, the quantity, and the total cost.

The output from running the program should include additional boxes that are similar to the following PizzasRUs example:

. Enhance your confirmation dialog so that it displays the entire order, including the name, the color, the quantity, and the total cost.

The output from running the program should include additional boxes that are similar to the following PizzasRUs example:

Reflect on how patient factors such as genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, and behavior might impact the pathophysiology of the alterations you identified, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of your selected disorder.

During the last 5 weeks, you have explored various body systems: neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, and hematological. These four systems work together along with other body systems to complete a myriad of functions. For this reason, when disorders occur within one body system, it can create potentially devastating effects throughout the entire body. For instance, Parkinson’s disease is a disorder of the central nervous system, yet its alterations actually affect multiple body systems from the cardiovascular system to the gastrointestinal system. In this Assignment, you examine alterations associated with disorders, as well as the impact of the alterations on multiple body systems.

To prepare:

  • From the list below, select a disorder of interest to you:
    • Alzheimer’s disease
    • Asthma in children
    • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
    • Congestive heart failure
    • Hepatic disease (liver disease)
    • Hypertension
    • Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism
    • Seizures
    • Sepsis

  • Identify alterations associated with your selected disorder. Consider the pathophysiology of the alterations. Think about how these alterations produce pathophysiological changes in at least two body systems.
  • Reflect on how patient factors such as genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, and behavior might impact the pathophysiology of the alterations you identified, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of your selected disorder.
  • Review the “Mind maps—Dementia, Endocarditis, and Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)” media in the Week 2 Learning Resources. Use the examples in the media as a guide to construct a mind map for the disorder you selected. Consider the epidemiology and clinical presentation of your selected disorder.

To complete: USE 3 OR MORE CREDIBLE ,CURRENT  RESOURCES, PLUS  ASSIGNED READING AND MEDIA

Develop a 6 slide PowerPoint presentation that addresses the following:

  • Describe your selected disorder, as well as associated alterations. Explain the pathophysiology of the alterations, including changes that occur in at least two body systems.
  • Explain how genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, and behavior might impact the pathophysiology of the alterations you identified, as well as diagnosis and treatment of your selected disorder.
  • Construct a mind map for the disorder you selected. Include the epidemiology, pathophysiology of alterations, risk factors, and clinical presentation, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of the disorder.

For my paper I choose to use Ford Motor Company this is a Company that is based in Dearborn, Michigan. They are the second largest industrial corporation in the world, with revenues of more than 144 billion and about 370,000 employees. Ford Motor Company conducts Operations that are expanded to 200 countries. Although Ford obtains significant revenues and profits from its financial services subsidiaries, the company’s core business remains in the design and manufacture of automobiles for sale on the consumer market. Since Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company, incorporated in 1903, the company has produced over 260 million vehicles with very high customer satisfaction ratings some of with are the best in the market (www.ford.com).
In the last couple of years some of the companies have been dealing with some of the most difficult economical climates as the world’s economy continues to change rapidly. This continues to demand increases in the charges of compensation benefits packages. This has pushed them into taking preventive measures to ensure their compensation policies and Business strategies flow together failure can result in losing valuable employees. If you look at the growing improvements in the economy and the Businesses the biggest issue that needs to be delt with is the ability to effectively install the policies retribution. In order to keep the interest of the employees in there Company one must ensure that they always determine the best policies regarding compensation as this is what can drive an employee out of there company (Miranda, 2010).
For this paper we will analyze their compensation management and the strategy that the company is following. Ford is currently using a flexible compensation method. Every Company that is in business is competing every day to have the best employees in there Company. Some incentives that a company may offer may not always have to do with an employee’s performance at the work place resulting in a financial result. Such as going a certain amount of days without any safety incidents which can ultimately save the Company millions of dollars.
This Company has built a very strong organizational structure with the work processes around employee incentives which has assisted in the development of a package of various payments to concentrate on, for the direction of the energy of their staff. The same Company is expanding the concept of a reward system beyond the traditional payment systems, including all the company has to offer and that can be evaluated in this context the employee (Spain& Chiavenato, 2009).
There were some challenges that Ford faced regarding the compensation was the HR department of the Company had to reengineer all the packages every year. This was partially due to the company engaging in the making of renowned cars which can be viewed a very technical job. Ford has had a very big challenge in the retention of the skilled employees that they need. The demand for these skilled workers has never declined and other companies including their competitors would love nothing more than to get someone who has worked for their competitor. Sometimes when you talk about a competitor attempting to hire one of Ford’s skilled employees it can become difficult to retain them as they are offered a great compensation package.
Ford Motor Company provides their employees with a flexible benefit package that includes the following; generous vacation and comprehensive insurance. The insurance benefit includes heath care, dental, medical, medical prescriptions, disability and life insurance. Paid time off is a little different year to year however it can include 15 holidays a year and as much as 25 days’ vacation after staying with the company 20 years. A salaried employee is automatically put into the employee retirement plan once they are hired. The options are up to the employee as to how to invest this. The Company also has numerous programs for vehicle purchases, tuition assistance and a dependent scholarship program. I would consider this to be a very attractive compensation program.

Analyze how your company applies compensation practice to determine the positive or negative impact to the company and its stakeholders?
When you talk about market relations the choice of a compensation package, method of analysis, forecasting, optimization Ford has the best opportunity. Ford has been one of the most renowned Companies and is applying the best compensation strategies for their employees. This strategy is called a Flexible Compensation Strategy. Ford follows a saying “He who pays the piper calls the tune”. A flexible benefit system if used properly can and will increase the total compensation. The Flexible Benefit System started in the 1980’s A flexible benefit system is a way to appeal to unique needs within the employee population as in Ford’s case needing special skills to accomplish the job (Joseph J. Martocchio 2013).
The top level managers are focused into the efficiency of the communication plan that identifies the changes in the model of management. This is a process of leadership and teamwork of a team. A company must come together as a team or this process will be a very frustrating process. Ford will set the compensation policies to be consistent and coherent to their organization, the culture is Business and mechanisms for the provision of all people involved. The Compensation with special factors is the issue that a Company performs as reward work. Also it will be faced with the difficulty of policy a design variable compensation. Such a payment system the company goes for variable pay packages for the support of technical staff that are called for some special tasks (Larousse, 1994).
At the corporate level Ford uses various methods to engage with their stakeholders. The creation of forums to gather stakeholder input on current activities, An outreach on emerging and ongoing issues of particular importance to stakeholders, An engagement with the local stakeholder in such communities that they operate as a part of our code of human rights, they consult with organizations that have a campaign targeting Ford, an engagement with a rating and ranking organization into the investment community, and lastly they offer new product testing. Ford’s compensation package is having a positive impact on the stakeholders that they have. Ford is using a market strategy and the view is to determine the compensation policy very clearly in order to avoid any issues coming up in regards to compensation. Since they are the best automaker company in the world they must at all costs involve and take care of all stakeholders. The most common compensation package they have is a 401K.

Examine the ways in which laws, labor unions, and market factors impact the company’s compensation practices. Provide specific examples to support your responses?
When a company is attempting to decide a compensation package the biggest thing that needs to occur is that they will need to ensure that everyone is in agreement to include upper level management. The personnel that needs to agree at a minim is labor unions, and the other regular bodies. Such regular bodies of people are those external stakeholders while the labor unions include the internal stakeholders the company needs to ensure that the both of them are in total agreement with said compensation package or it will become a very difficult task. The reasoning behind such a large impact on the compensation packages is because all the labor and workers are under their control and they are fighting for their rights. They all must attempt to align their objectives with the labor union and this synergy among them creates a great impact on the compensation package of a company (Martocchio, 2013). The legal environment for the compensation practices consists of Federal and State regulations that were imposed by the government. The Fair Labor Standards Act is one of the oldest labor laws it can be often called the wage and hour law. The provisions that do affect compensation programs are; minimum wages overtime pay, record keeping requirements, and equal pay.

Evaluate the effectiveness of traditional bases for pay at the company you researched?
The traditional bases for pay packages for Ford motors are as follows: experience, skillfulness and nature as well as level of work. The human multi-criteria problems are encountered more often than not which can be caused by the increasing complexities of a situation of decision-making when it becomes necessary to take into account many different factors. According to a lot of different studies, there are two main groups of strategies that are to be used by personnel in issues involving muli-choice which is the strategy and compensation strategy exception (Martocchio, 2013). The compensation strategy was designed by experts and analysts whom tend to compare multiple assessments of one alternative to make an estimate of another. The definition of the utility of each alternatives (identification or the preference), and then you compare the strategy of the additive model. A comparison of the utility assessment of alternatives for each criterion is separate then you sum these differences which are the additive model difference.
In conclusion leaders in all different types of companies must make important decisions regarding compensation practices. Each decision comes from the management which defines policies that attempt to direct the future. A compensation strategy is one of the main subjects that can either attract or push away an employee. This is the thing that is directly related to the effectiveness and performance of the Business. A company in today’s Business is taking a strong
stride toward this issue as failure to do so could end in bankruptcy when they lose all employees. Ford Motor company is conducting a very competitive compensation policy that in my opinion is very competitive across the board. By keeping their stakeholders involved and listening to their input they will continue to keep them happily involved with their company for years to come. There are specific laws in place to ensure employees are receiving a fair compensation package at a limit. However this doesn’t mean a company can’t go to a better compensation package. After my evaluation of Ford Motor Company’s compensation program I can confidently say that there compensation program is above average and I would be thrilled to work under them.

What factors influence a leader to adopt a specific style (personal traits, characteristics, environment, and so on.

In this assignment, you will analyze Fiedler’s Contingency Theory and learn to identify the most effective leadership style to use in different situations.

Using the Online Library or the Internet, conduct research to gain a greater understanding of Fiedler’s Contingency Theory.

Read the following scenario and analyze how this situation should be handled.

Scenario

John, a health management student completing an internship at Memorial Hospital, has been appointed chair of a multidisciplinary clinical taskforce by the hospital’s CEO. The taskforce will design a new operational system to reduce the waiting time of patients entering the hospital’s emergency room (ER). Although John had no clinical experience, he had successfully completed a course in operations management prior to beginning his internship and was excited to apply his new knowledge for solving a “real” problem for the hospital.

The hospital CEO told John that when a patient entered the hospital’s ER, it could take up to eight hours from the time the patient was initially triaged by a nurse to the time the patient was either discharged home or admitted as an inpatient by the physician. The CEO said, “Due to quality of patient care issues, this timeframe is unacceptable and the taskforce needs to come up with solutions to this problem. My goal is to reduce the “turnaround” time for the patient from eight hours to two hours.”

Prior to being assigned as the chair of this taskforce, John had informally observed the operations of the hospital’s ER and noted that many of the bottlenecks causing patient care delays were caused by operational issues such as nurses filling out duplicate forms and a lack of communication between the hospital departments (for example, radiology) when the ER physicians ordered tests or were waiting for test results to confirm their diagnoses. These bottlenecks caused a slow turnover of the ER’s examination rooms and unnecessary paperwork resulting in the ineffective use of both the physicians’ and nurses’ time.

In addition to John, the CEO assigned Dr. Smith, the medical director of the hospital’s ER, and Mary, the ER nurse manager, to the taskforce. As chair of the taskforce, John scheduled an initial meeting for 10:00 a.m., the following Monday. John was surprised that both Dr. Smith and Mary arrived twenty minutes late to the meeting saying that this was “taking valuable time away from their normal assignments.” John started the meeting by first introducing himself. Before this meeting, he had no interactions with Dr. Smith and Mary. He then reviewed the current statistics of the average wait time for a patient presenting to the ER and the hospital’s CEO desire to reduce this time. He then opened the meeting for comments and suggestions.

Dr. Smith spoke first, “In my opinion, the current operational systems that we have in place are just fine. We just need more ER physicians and examination rooms so that more patients can be seen.” Dr. Smith told John to recommend that the operational systems were good enough and that the hospital should build a new wing for additional ER exam rooms and hire more physicians.

Interrupting Dr. Smith, John said, “The hospital has a very limited capital budget and no funds have been allocated for building more facilities. We need to redesign the operational system to be more efficient and effective.” Dr. Smith gave John a stern look and reminded him that he, not John, was the medical director and therefore, knew what is needed and what is best for the hospital’s ER.

Mary was the next to speak. She recommended that more nurses be hired so patients could be triaged quicker when they first present themselves in the ER. Dr. Smith disagreed, saying, “Hiring more nurses is not the solution because even if patients were triaged quicker, there aren’t enough examination rooms to move the patients to!”

John was just about to remind them of the taskforce’s purpose, when an overhead page indicated that both Dr. Smith and Mary were needed in the ER immediately. By now, patients were lined up in the hallways waiting to be seen in the ER. Dr. Smith told John to make the hiring and building recommendations to the CEO. The meeting adjourned, with Dr. Smith and Mary running off to the ER where patients were waiting to be seen.

John sat in the empty meeting room and thought, “The CEO is not going to be happy with the taskforce’s recommendations.” He wondered, “As chair of this taskforce, what could I have done to produce the desired outcome?” John knew that hiring more physicians and nurses and building more examination rooms was not the answer. The answer was better coordination and integration of the ER’s operating systems.

Tasks

Based on your research, understanding of the Fiedler’s Contingency Theory, and the above scenario, create a 4- to 5-page Microsoft Word document to address the following questions:

  • What is Fiedler’s Contingency Theory? How did it develop? What are its applications? What are its pros and cons?
  • Does everyone have just one leadership style or can it vary? Why? What factors exert pressure to influence a shift in leadership style? Are the factors exerting pressure to influence a shift in leadership style appropriate with respect to merit and measure? Why or why not?
  • What factors influence a leader to adopt a specific style (personal traits, characteristics, environment, and so on)?
  • What role do communications, dynamic listening, and conflict resolution play for a leader?
  • Using Fiedler’s Contingency Theory, how would you help John determine what leadership style he should use? Why?
  • What is the relevance of ethics in the above scenario?
  • Which leadership style do you consider the best? Why?
  • What would be the most effective leadership style in the above case scenario using Fiedler’s Contingency Theory? Why?
  • Assess your own leadership qualities using what you’ve learned. What is your natural leadership style? Are you task-oriented or relationship-oriented leader?

Support your responses with appropriate research, reasoning, and examples.

Explain what are the alternatives or possible courses of action? Identify at least 3 alternatives.

***50 word minimum per question, but keep in mind some of these questions can’t be answered in just 50 words.

Also it is not just about the number of words.  You must say something insightful and relevant.

Ethical Scenario # 3

(3) You work in the Human Resource (HR) Department of the Green Jet Airways Company. Most of your flights are to various Asian countries. You are hiring flight attendants to work on the planes. Several resumes have come in with photos of the applicants (the company requires a photo). The head of HR tells you that three of the applicants should be rejected because they may cause problems. One of the applicants is Jewish with a yarmulke on his head, another a Christian wearing a crucifix on a chain around her neck, and the third is clearly a Sikh with a turban. What do you do? Should the company hire them despite their obvious religious affiliations or not hire them? Identify at least 3 courses of actions or alternatives.

1 What is the ethical dilemma or issue?

2 What are the alternatives or possible courses of action? Identify at least 3 alternatives.

3 What are your recommendations? In other words, of the several alternatives you identified, what do you think the company should do?

4 What is your rationale for your recommendations? In other words, why do you recommend this course of action?

Ethical Scenario # 4

(4) You work for a college that is ranked in the top 50 among MBA programs. A key factor in the ratings is average GMAT scores. Currently, the average GMAT scores of new MBA students at your college is a very respectable 660 out of 800. Enrollments are declining and the VP for Enrollments says that unless the college is going to admit students with lower GMAT scores, the college will face a serious shortfall in tuition; average MBA tuition is $100k. Of course, admitting students with lower GMAT scores will hurt the rankings of the college. The VP for enrollments has an idea: Inform low scorers on the GMAT that they should go to a different school for the summer, take at least 3 credits at that school, and then apply as a transfer student. Transfer students are considered a “special admission” category and their GMAT scores do not have to be reported. What are your recommendations to the College President? Should the college have the students with low GMAT scores apply as transfer students? Identify at least 3 courses of actions or alternatives.

1 What is the ethical dilemma or issue?

2 What are the alternatives or possible courses of action? Identify at least 3 alternatives.

3 What are your recommendations? In other words, of the several alternatives you identified, what do you think the company should do?

4 What is your rationale for your recommendations? In other words, why do you recommend this course of action?

Analyzing Cultural Relevance in Instruction.

In Chapter 12, Wardle (2013) summarizes the important characteristics of a culturally relevant teacher. Use this information as a guide or resource throughout this assignment to help inspire your thinking as you apply your knowledge of culturally relevant pedagogy toward specific solutions to problems facing a teacher with a very diverse student population. This exercise provides excellent practice over the application of culturally relevant principles in the design of effective instructional solutions. You will need to design such instructional solutions within the Final Project, so it is very important to practice such skills here. Specifically, for this assignment, you will view a brief video taken with a cell phone by a student in a high school social studies class. The video (Bliss, 2013) documents a meltdown Bliss experienced during his World History course at Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas. A transcript of the audio is provided in the Instructor Guidance for this week along with other detailed assistance for completing this assignment.

After reviewing the Instructor Guidance for this task, create your assignment to meet the content and written communication expectations below.

Content Expectations
Video Analysis Questions (2 points): Answer the questions below based on your inferences and ideas after viewing the events captured in the cellphone video.
Description: What is the problem (from Jeff Bliss’s perspective as well as from Ms. Phung’s perspective)?
Diagnosis: What probably caused it? Who benefits? Who loses? What position do you take on this issue?
Solution: How could a more equitable, culturally relevant approach to the class improve the situation? How might Ms. Phung respond differently to Jeff’s concerns?
Equity Strategies (2.5 points): Describe any equity strategies you noticed or inferred being implemented in the video. Suggest at least one strategy for each of the four categories that the teacher could have utilized to help meet student needs in a more equitable fashion.
Instruction
Classroom Environment
Student Grouping
Student Recognition/Leadership
