Discuss what you found. How did running the descriptive statistic answer your question Interpret the data in terms of the behavior of each variable.

Due Tuesday, October 27, 2015.

  1. Review M1A2, the SPSS Tutorial on Data Handling, from this and what you now know after having read chapters 5-7 in the textbook by George and Mallery (pp. 72-79 specifically), and having completed the SPSS Tutorial on Data Handling in Module 1,  generate a question that you may have that the data in M1A2, could answer.  For example (and now you cannot use this question) “What is the number of student participants in the study by year in college?
  2. Next, open SPSS, and locate the M1A2 file that you generated when you completed that assignment. Using the skills that you learned after completing M1A2, the SPSS Tutorial on Data Handling, the reading and lessons in chapters 5-7 in the textbook by George and Mallery (pp. 72-79 specifically),and parts 1 & 2 in the Steinberg textbook (pp. 43-47 specifically), run the descriptive statistic that will answer your question.
  3. Create a histogram. You may want to superimpose a normal curve on it. Feel free to use other tables and graphs.  MOST IMPORTANTLY, KEEP THIS SIMPLE; THE QUESTION THAT YOU ASK IS DESCRIPTIVE.  HOW MUCH, HOW OFTEN.  USE ONLY ONE STATISTIC AND ONE VARIABLE AT A TIME.  DO NOT ASK A QUESTION WITH TWO VARIABLES. WE ARE DOING DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS. WE ARE NOT DOING INFERENTIAL STATS YET.
  4. Compare the look of your graph to the statistics on Table 5 (located in the Module 2 online lecture under Characterizing Frequency Distributions (1 of 2).
  5. Discuss what you found. How did running the descriptive statistic answer your question?  Interpret the data in terms of the behavior of each variable. Use the vocabulary and statistical language presented in this module to describe your graph and findings.
  6. Discuss your finding with your classmates by commenting on at least two of your peers’ posts and responding to what is written about your post by Sunday, November 1, 2015.
  7. As you describe what you found, be sure you give credit to any sources (our textbooks etc.) where you paraphrase or quote definitions, meanings etc. and use APA style in your works cited/bibliography at the end of your paper.

Discuss these findings with your classmates and instructor online.

Your attached file with the results of the analysis needs to be in Microsoft Word format.

(During your dissertation days, you will examine your own data yourself much the way we are doing it in this section if you collect quantitative data)

All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources.

comparison sample handout, it is important to develop subject A and subject B equally.

ESSAY #2 TOPIC DE ENGLISH 1301 Fall 2015 Write a well developed comparison/contrast paper – topic -– compare yourself to one of your relatives per the in class directions (i.e. review the comparison sample handout and read this essay hand-out carefully). Length of paper: 750-1,000 typed words — courier new 12 point font, double-spaced. You may focus on differences and/or similarities. Per the essay 2 comparison sample handout, it is important to develop subject A and subject B equally. For this assignment, it is appropriate to utilize first person, but try to avoid beginning each sentence with “I” to make your writing stronger. Each paragraph should include specific examples to support your assertions. Students need to narrow their topics for the entire essay to two or three main points of comparison. Be sure to remember that you are developing a “single” point of comparison per each body paragraph – do not merely list several points of comparison. An example of a single point of comparison would be the following: personality, career choice, appearance, religious preference, hobbies, musical preference, educational background, educational choices, lifestyle choices, etc. – present only ONE point of comparison in each topic sentence that you explain in full detail in your comparison body paragraph. You will be graded on the strength of your topic sentences. Proofread each topic sentence to verify you have included a transitional word or phrase, the specific point of comparison, and the two subjects being compared (for this paper, the two subjects are you and your chosen relative). Also, make an effort to incorporate transitional words or phrases throughout your essay which indicate comparison. You will also be graded on whether you demonstrate equal development of both subjects. Be sure to use MLA Style format and proofread carefully for grammar errors. Do not use outside sources or information to complete this assignment – the goal of this paper is to write a comparison paper based on your own original ideas. Plagiarism software will be used to check student papers — plagiarized papers will receive a grade of “zero”

Discuss how has case management changed and evolved over time.

Case management has evolved over the years, both in its theoretical approach and in its roles and functions. The concept of case management became popular in the criminal justice system as a result of the development of rehabilitation as a correctional approach. Since that time, case management has changed and evolved along with the different schools of thought, as impacted by the social attitudes of the times.

Research the history and evolution of case management, and write a paper of 4 pages that addresses the following:

  • How has case management changed and evolved over time?
  • What were the schools of thought during each period, and what were the significant issues that existed during those times?
  • How have the roles and functions changed over time?
  • How have the changing correctional approaches impacted the roles and functions of case management?

4pages. APA format. 5 sources referenced throughout the paper. Reference page and abstract

Identifying some of the facts you have uncovered regarding your research topic.

This Discussion provides a useful way for you to begin identifying some of the facts you have uncovered regarding your research topic. You may want to use some or all of these facts in your Information Report and, later, in your final Research Project, as well. Be sure to cite your facts following MLA citation guidelines. [Other research styles are ineligible for credit in this course.]

To prepare for this assignment, refer to the “Assignment List” pages in our previous modules, about locating, citing, and evaluating sources.

NOTE: If you did not receive approval from me for your research thesis in the “Research Proposal” Discussion, be sure to contact me in the current Discussions Qs & As thread for thesis approval before you proceed in the course.

Instructions:

Select and post two (2) critical and/or fascinating facts that you learned from one or two professional and current sources (published in the last five years) regarding your current research topic.
Do not quote. Instead, interpret your facts using *only* your own words, i.e., paraphrase or summarize the source information. And use only 3rd person pronouns (he, she, it, they, their, them, etc.).
At the end of each statement of fact, insert an MLA-style parenthetical reference (in-text citation) to credit your source for the idea and to help you avoid plagiarism.
Parenthetical Reference Examples

Article with two authors: … (Hepburn and Simon).
Anonymous article: … (“Election Reforms in Dire Need”).
4. Below your two cited facts, insert a Works Cited list of bibliographic citations, one for each source you cited in your facts list. Alphabetize your list of citations and, for each online article, include a complete Internet address that will take readers directly to your article page.
