Unit VIII Article Critique Select two current, professional journal articles that are at least four pages in length. You must write a critical assessment of the articles for this assignment. Keep in mind, the research databases found in the CSU Online Library are a great source for quick exploration of thousands of articles. BSL 4060, Team Building and Leadership 3 In preparation, follow the guidelines established below:

Find two articles (that are less than five years old) that pertain to team building or improving team performance and annotate, in your own words, as you read. Note the authors’ main points and thesis statements. The critiques should be approximately two to three pages EACH in length (not counting the title and reference page). The assignment is due at the completion of Unit VIII. Plan early to avoid missing the deadline.

Part I: Introduction Start EACH critique with the following information: the author’s name, the article title, and the author’s thesis statement.

Part II: Summary Summarize the author’s purpose and main points; providing examples for clarity of understanding the author’s intended implications. Share key topics that support the author’s focus for this article. Provide ample details to enlighten the reader as to what the article is implying for audiences who are seeking research data in regards to team building and/or the different types of teams (e.g., virtual, temporary, traditional, or innovative).

Part III: Review and Evaluate To critically review the article, ask the following questions: What are the credentials/areas of expertise of the author? Did the author use appropriate methods to gather the evidence? Did the author use accurate evidence? Does the author’s use and interpretation of this evidence lead the reader to the same conclusion? Did the author build a logical argument? Is there other evidence that would support a counter-argument? Was the author successful in making his/her point?

Part IV: Conclusion State whether you agree with the author or not. Back up your decisions by stating your reasons. Give a general opinion of the work. Explain what you learned from reading the article and if you would recommend it to a friend/coworker. Format your paper using APA style. Refer to resources provided in the Student Portal. Use your own words and expressions to write the critique. Include citations and references as needed to avoid plagiarism. The paper should consist of two to three pages of body paragraphs for EACH critique, one title page, and one reference page (as the final page). Information about accessing the Blackboard Grading Rubric for this assignment is provided below. APA Guidelines CSU requires that students use APA style for papers and projects. Therefore, the APA rules for formatting, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and listing of sources are to be followed.

here you go

Explain. Based on Lincoln’s speech in 1854, did he agree with the Kansas-Nebraska Act.

In our reading this week, we learned about the United States’ ideology of Manifest Destiny, and the territorial gains which resulted from it: Texas, California, and the American southwest. As these new territories are settled, a great debate reverberates throughout the nation: will these new areas be slave states or free-labor states.

Here are your discussion questions:

Is there a direct connection between Manifest Destiny and the American Civil War? Explain.
Based on Lincoln’s speech in 1854, did he agree with the Kansas-Nebraska Act? Did he agree that slavery should continue to spread into newly developed territories?
At what point did the Civil War become inevitable? Explain.

Use specifics from Lincoln’s Speech to support your response.

Contemporary Issues in Fashion

Just to clarify assessment details for E2 of Contemporary Issues in Fashion:

The Learning outcomes that relate to your assignment for E2 are:

LO2 – interpret history and developments of the fashion industry in the context of the growing debate on sustainability

LO3 – critically review the position of the fashion industry as a global, social phenomenon

You are required to write a 3,000 word critical essay where you:

Identify a significant movement, change or development taking place on a global level and discuss its potential impact
upon the fashion industry. Discuss any challenges and opportunities it presents and what its long-term and short-term impacts might be.

While you look at a significant movement that is likely to impact on the fashion industry, it is important to consider it in light of the sustainability imperative, in order to fulfil the requirements of Learning Outcome 3.

For example, you may want to talk about the impact of digital production systems – maybe 3D printing – but in reflecting upon that consider the positives of potential zero waste, but also the creation of more synthetic materials such as nylons that are used in 3D printing – so there is a discussion to be had about the pros and cons of this. Or in discussing the rise of the Asian markets in terms of luxury consumption, relate that to the sustainability issues of expanding consumption, etc.

I hope that will clarify things a little. You will have the opportunity to discuss you ideas for your essay with your tutor in class as the Future of Fashion course progresses, but in the meantime sustainability should be part of your essay (and could even be the main focus of it) so you can be researching that.

Compare and contrast the Articles of Confederation with the new Constitution of 1787.

s depression struck the new nation in the mid-1780s, new questions arose about the nature of American democracy. Many conservatives believed that the answer lay in a stronger national government. Most radicals believed it was up to the states to relieve the financial burden of the people. These sentiments fostered a movement for a new constitution. Political differences soon stimulated the creation of political parties.

Compare and contrast the Articles of Confederation with the new Constitution of 1787. What were the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles vis-à-vis the Constitution? Give specific instances that demonstrate the weakness of the Articles (such as the Western problem).

Then analyze the drafting of the Constitution, using specific details to show how the various states (slave vs. free, east vs. west) compromised in order to effectively draft a constitution. Pay particular attention to Roger Sherman’s plan, the Great Compromise, which broke a stalemate that could have been fatal to the development of the new Constitution.

Finally, compare and contrast the debate over ratification between the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists. Make sure you cite specific examples from the Federalist Papers to support the Federalist position and contrast it with leading proponents of the opposition (such as John Hancock). Analyze how the debate over a bill of rights illustrates the differences between the two parties. Evaluate the relative success of the Bill of Rights in achieving an effective balance between national and states’ interests.
