Identify Tim’s key success factors, you can weigh them according to the strength/weakness compared to the competitors.

Assignment: Competitive Advantage
You are a marketing consultant to Tim’s Coffee Shoppe. A way for Tim’s Coffee Shoppe to determine the advantages (or weaknesses) Tim’s has as compared to their competitors’ is through doing a Competitive Profile Matrix (CPM). When you identify Tim’s key success factors, you can weigh them according to the strength/weakness compared to the competitors.
Checklist:
⦁ Download the Template below to start your Assignment.

⦁ Optional Step1: Do a partial SWOT analysis by concentrating on the internal strengths and weaknesses at Tim’s (based on your practice in the Learning Activity in this unit) versus what would be Tim’s competition if Tim’s was located in your nearest town.

⦁ Step 2: Then complete the Competitive Profile Matrix which provides greater specificity of the strengths and weaknesses you found. Fill in the levels of strengths and weaknesses for the competitor and then compare the two companies in the template provided.

⦁ In addition to the completed Competitive Profile Matrix, summarize your findings and the implications and recommendations to Tim in a minimum of a one page summary. Additionally add a title page and a reference page and submit your Assignment to the Dropbox in APA format and citation style.

View the rubric below. Submit your minimum 4 page response using APA format and citation style which includes a title and references page to the Dropbox.

Unit 4 Assignment: Competitive Advantage
⦁ Optional Step1: Do a partial SWOT analysis by concentrating on the internal strengths and weaknesses at Tim’s (based on your practice in the Learning Activity in this unit) versus what would be Tim’s competition if Tim’s was located in your nearest town.

⦁ Step 2: You are a marketing consultant to Tim’s Coffee Shoppe. A way for Tim’s Coffee Shoppe to determine the advantages (or weaknesses) Tim’s has as compared to their competitors is through doing a Competitive Profile Matrix (CPM). When you identify Tim’s key success factors, you can weigh them according to the strength/weakness as compared to the competitors. You can set any weight you wish, but a simple one is:

1 – Major weakness
2 – Minor weakness
3 – Minor strength
4 – Major strength
Key success factors can be identified for the business. They can include things such as the quality, location, brand recognition, profitability, product, the staff, etc. In the matrix, you will list these factors and rate the strength of each one in Tim’s business as well as his primary competitors. See the example below. Each coffee shop was ranked first, second or third in each of the factors that may or may not affect their competitive advantage.

Factor Tim’s Coffee Shoppe Competitor 1 (Enter Name) Competitor 2 (Enter Name)
Score Comments Score Comments Score Comments
Quality 1 2 3
Location 2 1 3
Brand Recognition 3 1 2
Profitability 2 3 1
Product 1 2 3
Staff 1 3 2

Now using competitors researched on the Internet or in your local area, create a CPM for Tim.
Other factors you may wish to consider include:
Price
Selection
Service
Reliability
Expertise
Company Reputation
Social Responsibility
Appearance
Credit Policies
Advertising

You can examine the above data in several ways. While the total score for Tim’s business maybe is higher than his major competitors, Tim’s may have a lower score in another area which means they are not as competitive in those areas. Some of these areas might allow their competitors to create advantages and their customers or potential customers may choose their competitor over Tim’s business. For example, if their products are closely rated but their competitor has a higher score on staff friendliness, might their customers start frequenting their competitor’s business? What would you recommend to increase Tim’s score in this area?
For this Assignment, spend some time looking around Tim’s Coffee Shoppe. Look either online or visit two competitors in your area that Tim may compete against and familiarize yourself with their business. You may even be a frequent customer of a coffee shop and already be aware of how you might rate their strengths against Tim’s.
Fill in the matrix above with your results from your research. Feel free to change or add any of the other factors listed.
Once you have completed your matrix, submit a minimum of 4 pages which includes the CPM, your recommendations for Tim, as well as a title page and a reference page to the Dropbox area of the course.

Determine if there is any correlation between the variables.

Assignment 2: LASA 1: Linear Regression

In this assignment, you will use a spreadsheet to examine pairs of variables, using the method of linear regression, to determine if there is any correlation between the variables. Afterwards, you will postulate whether this correlation reveals a causal relationship (and why).

Click here to open the Excel spreadsheet containing the data for this assignment.

This spreadsheet contains the data from a study that attempted to see if there is a correlation between the hours that students studied and the grade that they earned on a test. The correlation test you are about to run will help you to determine if there is, in fact, a correlation between study time and test score. If you find a strong correlation, then you will postulate whether you feel this indicates a causal relationship.

Below are instructions on how to perform this correlation test in Microsoft Excel.

In the Excel spreadsheet, perform the following operations:

  1. Save the spreadsheet to your computer.
  2. With your mouse, highlight all of the data on the spreadsheet in columns A and B.
  3. In the tabs at the top of the page, click Insert.
  4. In the Insert ribbon, in the Charts section, click Scatter. Be sure to select the option where it will just plot dots, it will be called Scatter with only Markers. If you do this right, then you’ll see a chart on the page.
  5. Now, on the chart, right-click on one of the data points (dots). Just pick a dot somewhere near the middle of the distribution.
  6. Select Add Trendline from the drop-down menu that appears when you right-click on a dot.
  7. A new menu will appear. Select Linear, select Automatic, and click the boxes next to Display Equation on chart and Display r-squared value on chart.
  8. Click Close.
  9. Now, you should see a line drawn through the dots. It will roughly cut through the middle of the dot distribution.
  10. You’ll also see the linear regression equation and r2 value displayed next to the line.

To see an example spreadsheet containing a completed analysis click here.

Now that you’ve completed your analysis and determined the linear regression formula and r2, it is now time to report on the results of your study and examine your findings.

In a Microsoft Word document, respond to the following:

  1. Report the sample you selected and the question that was explored in the study.
  1. Report the r2 linear correlation coefficient and the linear regression equation produced in the Excel spreadsheet.
  1. What would be the value of Pearson’s r (simply the square root of r2)?
  1. Would Pearson’s r be positive or negative? What does this imply about the relationship between the factors in this study?
  1. What is the implication of any correlation found between the variables in the study you picked?
  1. Does this correlation imply a causal relationship? Explain.
  1. Are there other variables that you think should have been examined that would have improved this study or helped to pinpoint what factors are causal?

For this assignment, you will submit a spreadsheet and a report. The spreadsheet will be the Microsoft Excel file containing your scatterplot and analysis. Name your Microsoft Excel file as follows: LastnameFirstInitial_M3_A2.xls.

The report will be a Microsoft Word document in which you will address all of the questions in this assignment in the form of a narrative.  Name your Microsoft Word document as follows: LastnameFirstInitial_M3_A2.docx.

Submit both files to the M3: Assignment 2 Dropbox by Tuesday, November 24, 2015.

Assignment 3: Biopsychosocial-Cultural Model

Traditionally, mental illness was considered a biological problem, either inherited or developed due to genetic vulnerability within the individual. This point of view is termed the medical model. Treatment was provided to the individual in one-to-one meetings with a psychiatrist or sessions with a psychotherapist.

The field of mental health has evolved from the traditional model to one incorporating many more people, factors, causes, and types of treatment. The biopsychosocial-cultural model incorporates biological, psychological, developmental, familial, social, and cultural factors to understand how mental illness develops and how to design effective treatments.

Revisit the case of the two Wes Moores discussed in M1: Assignment 2. Then, pretend that you are the prison psychologist who completed the evaluation of the Wes Moore convicted of murder.

Using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, complete the following:

  • Gather information about the potential causes of Mr. Moore’s outcome.
  • Write a report of your findings to be filed in Mr. Moore’s chart and used by professionals who will be helping Mr. Moore. Address the following in your report:
    • Analyze how each of the following played a role in causing or affecting Mr. Moore’s troubled childhood and eventual imprisonment:
      • Biological factors (genetic and physiological)
      • Developmental factors
      • Psychological factors (emotional and related to thoughts)
      • Familial and social factors
      • Cultural factors (environmental and multicultural)
    • Evaluate how Mr. Moore’s troubled childhood and eventual imprisonment could have been prevented by early intervention. In addition, explain how that intervention could have been designed to address each of the following:
      • Psychological factors
      • Familial and social factors
      • Cultural factors
    • Recommend at least two ideas for treatment that Mr. Moore should have received in childhood, based on all of the following:
      • Biological factors
      • Psychological factors
      • Familial and social factors

Write a 3–5-page report in Word format (not including the title page and reference page). Include a title and reference page in APA format, and apply APA standards to citation of sources, including in-text citations and full references

Wes Moore, the author of the book The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates, was surprised when one day, the police approached him for a crime he did not commit. During the investigation, he came to know of another man who had the same name—Wes Moore. The shared name was not the only coincidence: they had both grown up in the same neighborhood at about the same time. Yet, one Wes Moore went on to become a Rhodes scholar, earn honors in the military, work at the White House, and become a leader in the business community; while the other Wes Moore was sentenced to life in prison. The descriptions of the lives of both Wes Moores are illustrative of the power of heredity and environment in the shaping of a person.

As boys, both Wes Moores grew up in poor, single-parent homes and did not apply themselves in primary and secondary school. The author’s father, a newscaster, died when the author was three years old. He and his two sisters were raised by his widowed mother. Before he was a teen, he became disillusioned with school and began getting into trouble in his neighborhood, even having brushes with the law for petty crimes. His mother decided to send him to military school, but he ran away five times before finally giving the school a chance. Once he decided to stay, he gained a strong sense of purpose and developed a strong work ethic.

Meanwhile, the other Wes Moore, who lived in the same area of Baltimore, was about the same age, and was also being raised by a single mother. He was arrested and convicted for first-degree murder of a police officer during a jewelry store robbery. He is serving a life prison sentence.

Important differences between the childhoods of the two boys are notable. The author had two college-educated parents. His father chose to stay with the family, but died at a relatively young age. He was relatively closely supervised. He, his siblings, and his mother lived with his grandparents after his father died. The author’s mother took extreme steps to try to turn him around. She moved several times to try to find safer neighborhoods. She sent him to military school when he exhibited troublesome behavior.

The other Wes Moore’s father was never a part of his life, choosing to abandon the family before his birth. His mother had been accepted to college, but federal budget cuts resulted in the loss of her Pell Grant. She had to abandon her goal of a college education and instead, had to work three jobs to care for her family. Eventually, she became overwhelmed and was unable to provide the kind of structure the author received. As a result, the other Wes Moore was unsupervised much of the time. He began using and selling drugs, later resorting to more serious crimes, like robbery, for money. It was during a robbery that he shot and killed a police officer—a crime that put him in prison for life.

    • If you disagree, identify at least two problems or issues you believe are the most significant and most in need of treatment.
    • Describe appropriate treatments for each identified problem or issue.

Add a title and reference page to the template and apply APA standards to citation of sources, including in-text citations and full references

Anna, a four-year-old Mexican-American girl, lives with her mother and father. Anna’s parents immigrated to the United States years before her birth. Her mother speaks only Spanish with her, while her father speaks only English. Anna’s parents are migrant workers who must move regularly. Anna and her parents have moved over ten times since her birth. They hope to provide Anna with more stability, now that she is approaching school age. Therefore, they are seeking other forms of employment.

Anna recently completed kindergarten orientation. The school psychologist recommended that her parents have her evaluated further, as her speech development is significantly delayed. She speaks very little; her vocabulary was screened at the kindergarten orientation and was found to be at least two years behind typical speech development. During the kindergarten screening, Anna was hyperactive, unable to sit still, distracted, and unable to complete the tasks. She was unable to complete them partially due to their difficulty level, but also due to her inability to focus sufficiently.

After a thorough evaluation at the local mental health center, Anna was diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She began participating in a behavioral modification program with a bilingual therapist, who speaks both English and Spanish. She will be evaluated in a few w
