Describe the problem you identified within the department or unit using an open- systems approach, and state where the problem exists using the systems theory model (input, throughput, output, cycles of events, or negative feedback).

Write a 3- to 5-page paper (page count does not include title and reference page) that addresses the following:

  • Describe a department or unit within a health care organization using systems theory terminology. Include a description of inputs, throughput, output, cycles of events, and negative feedback.
  • Describe the problem you identified within the department or unit using an open- systems approach, and state where the problem exists using the systems theory model (input, throughput, output, cycles of events, or negative feedback).
  • Based on this information, explain how you would address the problem as follows:
    • Formulate a desired outcome.
    • Identify goals and objectives that would facilitate that outcome.
    • Translate those goals and objectives into policies and procedures for the department or unit.
    • Describe relevant professional standards.
  • Explain how your proposed resolution to the problem would uphold the organization’s mission and values and improve the culture and climate.

Analyze verbal and nonverbal techniques that enhance oral communication within a buss.

Due Week 8 and worth 150 points

Now that you have completed your report, it is time to design and present your findings. Your task is to organize and develop the three (3) parts (introduction, body, and closing) of an effective presentation, based on your Justification Report (Assignment 2.3). Chapter 12 in our text provides overall information on presentation format, content, and delivery. Please do not simply cut and paste your justification report content to the slides. Instead develop clear, concise content that enhances your presentation narration or notes. Remember that your slides are meant to be highlights and your audience should not spend a great deal of time reading from the slides but instead listening to you present the concepts.

Create an eight to ten (8-10) slide presentation in which you:

  1. Ensure that your PowerPoint presentation fulfills the appropriate length requirements and professional style requirements.
  2. Open with an engaging introduction of the topic of your report. Include one (1) title slide and one (1) introductory slide.
  3. For the body of your presentation, cover the main points of your report. Create slides that reinforce and illustrate your main ideas. Follow basic design principles for effective slide content.
  4. For your single closing slide, finish with a memorable wrap-up statement that refocuses on the purpose of your report.
  5. Use PowerPoint voice-over and / or the notes section to present your slides.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Include a title slide containing the title of the assignment, your name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The title slide is not included in the required slide length.
  • Format the PowerPoint presentation with headings on each slide, and two to three (2-3) relevant graphics (photographs, graphs, clip art, etc.) throughout the presentation, ensuring that the presentation is visually appealing and readable from 18 feet away. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Slides should abbreviate the information in no more than five or six (5 or 6) bullet points each.
  • Slide titles should be based on the criteria being summarized (e.g., “Four Key Attributes,” “Responses to Budget Issues,” etc.).

Assignment Checklist

  • Descriptive titles on each of the slides
  • Text contains concise, precise content
  • Graphics convey the idea described by the slide text
  • Statements in bulleted lists have a parallel structure
  • The font size is easily read from a distance
  • There are no more than three (3) different font styles in the presentation
  • The color and background convey a formal business tone
  • Animation effects are used in moderation
  • There are no misspellings or typographical errors

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Assess strengths and weaknesses in the student’s own oral communication and in the oral communication of others.
  • Use sentence variety, effective word choice, and correct grammar in oral communication.
  • Analyze verbal and nonverbal techniques that enhance oral communication within a busi

Due on 12/10/15 (Thursday, Dec 10) by 11:00 pm
This project is to be completed individually. Consultation with classmates is allowed but do not write the code together. The submitted code must be your own.

Total: 75 points
Extra Credit: +20 points
Bonus points:
Complete Parts 1 & 2 & demo in class by Dec 4: +5 points
Project Submitted by Dec 9, 11pm: +5 points

Warning: Start EARLY. Do NOT wait till the last day. Remember to cite all sources of your code. Do NOT use any code from the web without proper acknowledgement. Use Firefox for this project. AJAX/XML has compatibility issues with other browsers. If you get stuck on something, contact me.
PART 1 (20 points)
https://itunes.apple.com/rss can generate RSS feeds for many different products in the iTunes store. For this project, we will be using the topsongs feed. The general URL for topsongs is:

https://itunes.apple.com/CODEFORCOUNTRY/rss/topsongs/limit=NUMBEROFTOPSONGS/xml
where CODEFORCOUNTRY can be “us” for United States or “in” for India or “tr” for Turkey and NUMBEROFTOPSONGS can be in the range of 10-300.

Write Javascript using jQuery to display the following information from the XML feed to an HTML page:
The title of the song (3 points)
The name of the artist (3 points)
The album of the song (4 points)
The image associated with the song (Note that there are 3 images of different size, choose one size only) (5 points)
The link to audio clip (5 points) (Note that there are two link tags. Choose one.)
You can get any other information from the feed that is of interest to you. Start with WK13 exercise files.
PART 2 (5 points)
This part requires you to teach yourself how to use the audio tag. Based on your HTML knowledge, you should be able to figure this out. For reference, look here: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_audio.asp

PART 3 (20 points)
Modify your HTML & JavaScript to add the following:
Ability for the user to choose the top songs of one of three countries of your choice (3)
Ability for the user to choose the number of songs to display with a range of 5-30 (6)
A button when clicked will parse the itunes feed (3)
Javascript/jQuery code to take user input and update the following link where the value for CODEFORCOUNTRY will be taken from (a) and the value for NUMBEROFTOPSONGS will be taken from (b) (8)
https://itunes.apple.com/CODEFORCOUNTRY/rss/topsongs/limit=NUMBEROFTOPSONGS/xml

For every search, make sure you clear the div section where you are displaying the song information.
PART 4 (10 points): WK14 in-class exercise will be very helpful for this.
Here is the YOUTUBE API link where searchTerm, SomeNumber and YOUR_API_KEY need to be filled:
https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search?q=searchTerm&part=snippet&maxResults=SomeNumber&key=YOUR_API_KEY
For each song in the itunes feed, create a search term from the data you collected from the RSS feed. What would be an appropriate search term? What would be an appropriate number for maxResults?

Parse the data you get from the YOUTUBE API to get the id of the video. Use the id to create a clickable link to the youtube video. For example, if the id is “RFinNxS5KN4”, then the link will be “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=” + id. Do not embed the video.

Create the HTML to display the video link including all other information you gathered from the itunes feed earlier. When a video id of a song is not found, instead of displaying a youtube link, print that the video for that song was not found.

Make sure you append the HTML within the function that parses the YOUTUBE API data.

Creativity (10 points)
Add style to your web page- color, font style, arrangement of information on the page etc. Make sure the styling is user-friendly – for example, don’t use red text on blue background or use fonts that are unreadable on the web. Make it look impressive such that a potential employer might be impressed if you showed it to them in a job interview. But keep it simple such that it is accessible to most users.

Code Comments (10 points)
Include comments to your code- both HTML and JavaScript. Comments should be detailed enough so that anyone who reads your code will be able to understand the program without any explanation from you. Another way to think about it is that if you read this code one year from now, you should be able to understand what the program does. If there are any issues with your code or quirks that I should be aware of during grading, include them in a readme.txt file.

Extra Credit (20 points)
Write this part in a separate HTML file. If you complete this, put a link to this page in your main page. Use any plugin (such as the bxSlider plugin) to display the images of the top songs from the itunes feed. When you click on the images, you can do one of two things
Play the audio clip (this could open a new window or not)
Open the youtube link of the video in a new window
If you use the bxSlider plugin, you will need to reload the slider as you add new data to it. Look at the following links for help:
http://bxslider.com/examples/reload-slider

Submission
Upload all your files as a .zip file to Blackboard under Submit Assignments -> Final Project. Name your file as YourUsername_FP.zip
e.g. If I were to upload it, it would be mutsuday_FP.zip

Describe specific passive-aggressive behaviors exhibited by the person.

Construct a short case study of passive-aggressive behavior at work. You may draw from personal experience, use an example from an article or other published work, or even create a hypothetical scenario and character(s). If you choose to write about someone you know, please use a pseudonym. Describe specific passive-aggressive behaviors exhibited by the person. Describe how the behaviors may affect others in the workplace. Illustrate organizational goals that may not be addressed due to the passive-aggressive behavior. Then, explore and evaluate how those involved in the situation should react effectively. Your paper should be 3-4 pages in length. Be sure to cite any sources referenced, in APA format.

Discuss how the interpretation of the data is affected by the level of validity (both strengths and weaknesses).

When reading and evaluating research articles, human services professionals should be able to determine whether that research study is valid and reliable. Establishing validity and reliability in research is important to trust the results from the study and to be able to apply those results to a larger research population.

When looking at different research studies, you will often find that when internal validity is high, external validity is low, and vice versa. In this assignment, you will further explore the interaction between internal and external validity.

Tasks:

Part 1:

Based on the course readings and research, in a minimum of 300–400 words, post your responses to the following:

  • What is internal and external validity? When conducting research, why is there often a trade-off between internal and external validity?
  • Is there a benefit in achieving a high level of one type of validity (internal versus external) over the other? Is there a way to design a study or series of studies to have high internal as well as high external validity? What would be the benefit?

Part 2:

Using the Argosy University online library resources, locate a research study related to the human services field. Share your purpose of research. In about 300 words, post your responses to the following:

  • Evaluate the level of internal and external validity achieved in the study.
  • Discuss how the interpretation of the data is affected by the level of validity (both strengths and weaknesses).

Submission Details:

Explain whether you would prefer using the mixed-methods methodology if you go on to conduct human services research one day. Why or why not?

Your textbook covers both quantitative and qualitative research designs in detail, both of which contain valuable design strategies. However, a third design strategy that can be very useful is the mixed-methods design, in which the researcher combines both the quantitative and qualitative techniques in a single study.

In this assignment, you will review the mixed-methods approach to understand its application in human services.

Tasks:

Search the Argosy University online library resources and the Internet to learn more about the mixed-methods design strategy. In a minimum of 200 words, post your responses to the following:

  • Share what you have learned about the mixed-methods strategy, including the strengths and weaknesses of this type of research design.
  • Explain whether you would prefer using the mixed-methods methodology if you go on to conduct human services research one day. Why or why not?

Now, using the Argosy University online library resources, locate a research study in which a mixed-methods design was used and address the following:

  • How were the quantitative and qualitative techniques employed in the study?
  • Why do you think the researcher chose a mixed-methods study over a complete quantitative or qualitative design? If you were the researcher, would you have also chosen to use the mixed-methods design? Why or why not?

Submission Details:

  • By Saturday, December 19, 2015, post your responses to this Discussion Area.
  • Through Wednesday, December 23, 2015, read and respond to at least two other classmates’ posts that differ from your opinion. Consider commenting on any additional information you found about the mixed-methods design. In addition, engage in a discussion of whether you would have used a mixed-methods design in the study that your classmates referenced.
