Discuss the differences between negative and positive punishment. What are the factors that make punishment effective.

One aspect of raising healthy children is understanding how to best provide correction when they make poor choices or behave in unacceptable ways. Over the years, there has been much debate over the most effective form of punishment for children. As part of this debate, you have to take into consideration operant conditioning as this is the basis for how effective correction works. Operant conditioning should be considered when choosing how to best administer corrective actions whether the parents choose to use corporal punishment, time outs, or loss of privileges.

  • Discuss the differences between negative and positive punishment. What are the factors that make punishment effective?
  • Discuss the effectiveness of corporal punishment and elaborate upon when you think it should be used.
  • Discuss how culture affects the type of punishment used.
  • Give reasons in support of your responses based on your readings and personal experiences.

Write your initial response in 2–3 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

By Saturday, January 2, 2016, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through Wednesday, January 6, 2016, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses. In your responses, consider the following:

  • Have your peers accurately identified the differences between negative and positive punishment? Explain your answer.
  • Can you suggest any other factors that make punishment effective? If so, state them.

Explain what biological, environmental, and cultural factors you believe influence your sleep habits and why you believe your sleep habits exist as they do.

  • Describe your typical sleep habits over the course of the week. For example, do you sleep longer on weekends than weekdays? Do you get up and go to bed at approximately the same time every day? Do you take naps?
  • Explain what biological, environmental, and cultural factors you believe influence your sleep habits and why you believe your sleep habits exist as they do.
  • Explain whether or not you think your sleep practices are typical for your culture and why.
  • Briefly summarize the research findings from the article. Who were the participants, what procedure was used to study them, and what were the results?
  • From the article, what influences appear to have had an influence on sleep patterns or practices? What role do you believe culture plays in those differences? How does the cultural influence in this example compare (similarities and differences) to the cultural influences on sleep in your culture?

Briefly identify the type of relationship you are using as your example and describe it in terms of love styles.

  • Analyze a personal relationship you have or have had (or a relationship of someone you know well). This relationship may be a romantic relationship or a friendship.
  • Briefly identify the type of relationship you are using as your example and describe it in terms of love styles.
  • Select at least four concepts or theories from your readings that describe the relationship and how this relationship developed in more depth.
  • Finally, select a culture presented in one of the articles listed. Make a brief statement about how some of the concepts or theories might be different if the relationship in your example occurred in another culture or if one of the individuals in this relationship was from this other culture.

xplain what can happen when children do not engage in healthy fitness activities.

As you have been learning, your knowledge about the nutritional and fitness needs of children will have the greatest impact when you can share this knowledge in order to help children and their families grow in awareness of and commitment to healthy behaviors and lifestyles. For your blog section this week, prepare a 2-page fact sheet to inform both early childhood professionals and families about the essential aspects of physical fitness for preschool-age children. Use the following guidelines:

Write an introductory paragraph or at least five bullet points that explain why physical fitness is so important for young children. Include at least three developmental skills that children are learning at this age, and describe how physical activities can help children toward mastery of these skills. Be sure to cite evidence from the learning resources or, if desired, use other resources to support your claims.

  • Explain what can happen when children do not engage in healthy fitness activities. Be sure to consider the impact on children of being overweight or obese, including implications for health and self-esteem.
  • Indicate how adults can help children develop good fitness habits. Describe at least two activities, such as specific games or movements, which are appropriate and enjoyable for children of this age. At least one of the activities should involve gross-motor (locomotor) skills, and another should involve fine-motor (manipulative) skills. Remember, the activities you recommend should be developmentally appropriate, which includes noncompetitive.
  • Based on your readings, include at least one inspirational, thought-provoking quote that captures your attitude and/or philosophy about fostering children’s healthy growth and development.
  • For your fact sheet, draw on the information in the fitness articles from this week’s Required Resources and your own research to provide evidence about the positive impact that physical activity has on children’s health, both now and in the future. Be sure to cite y

Identify three reasons, as given in the text, why children may suffer from malnutrition or hunger.

  • Respond to each item. Each response should be concise and between two and three paragraphs in length.
  • Use MS Word to write your responses, and submit your answers to all three questions in one Word document.
  • Copy and paste each question within the document, so that your Instructor can see which question you are responding to.
  1. As defined in your text, hunger is “a chronic shortage of necessary nutrients” (Robertson, p. 256) and malnutrition is a condition in which there is a shortage of macronutrients, micronutrients, or both. Review pages 256–258 in your text and summarize the main dangers that hunger and malnutrition pose to a child’s development. Identify three reasons, as given in the text, why children may suffer from malnutrition or hunger.
  2. The article “SKIPing Toward an Active Start: Promoting Physical Activity in Preschoolers” describes a number of strategies for encouraging physical activity in young children. Select either toddlers or preschoolers and describe at least three developmentally appropriate strategies that could help this particular age group become more physically active and fit. Propose ways that adults who work with young children can help them maintain good fitness habits.
  3. Of all the allergies from which children suffer, peanut allergies are among the most serious, causing 80% of deaths due to food hypersensitivity (Robertson, p. 276). Peanut allergies are also one of the most common allergies, affecting approximately 5% of children 0–3 years old. Review “Reality Check: Peanut Allergy” (pp. 357–358) in your text and summarize what adults working in early childhood settings need to know about this health threat. In what ways does a child with this allergy impact everyone in the same environment? Propose one way you might turn this situation into a positive learning opportunity for all children.

Explain the results of your computations, and how they support your answer.

All land within the municipality of Springfield is zoned for either agricultural, residential or commercial use.  You have just purchased a parcel of agricultural land for $20,000 in the expectation that it will be rezoned next year.  But the rezoning is controversial, and will be decided by the full City Council rather than just the Zoning Commission.

According to your inside sources, there’s a 30% chance the land will be rezoned for commercial use; in that event, you’ll be able to sell the land for $50,000.  But the populists on the Council are pushing for more affordable housing; if they win the vote, which your sources think has a likelihood of 50%, then the land will be rezoned for residential use, and you’ll only be able to sell it for $30,000.  Of course, the Greens may win, and the land won’t be rezoned at all.  In that event, it will still be worth what you paid for it, but no more than that.

You’ve just been approached by Mr. Hi Roller.  He’s a land speculator like yourself, but he doesn’t have your inside sources.  He thinks the land will be rezoned next year, and has offered you $30,000 cash for it, right now.

Which alternative should you choose?  Explain your decision process in detail.

Please read and heed the hints given in Case 1.  The same general advice is applicable in this Case, in particular:

  1. Read the source materials before beginning.
  2. The Case is about decision trees, not flipping real estate.
  3. Follow standard format.  A cover page, a short discussion, references and citations are all required.

Assignment Expectations

  • Provide a table summarizing the factual data.
  • Explain the computations used to obtain the numbers in the table.
  • Present a decision tree. (This may be hand-drawn, but it must be completely legible.)
  • Explain the results of your computations, and how they support your answer.
  • Follow the instructions in the BSBA Writing Style Guide (July 2014 edition), available online at https://mytlc.trident.edu/files/Writing-Guide_Trident_2014.pdf.
  • There are no guidelines concerning length.  Write what you need to write – neither more, nor less.
  • Clearly demonstrate your understanding of both the theory covered in the Module, and the particulars of the Case.
  • Provide references and citations.  At a minimum, you should reference the course materials. These are referenced in APA format on the Background Info page.

What are some ways the financials would be misstated if these inter company transfers were not adjusted.

Topic #1: One Plus One Equals One

In the case of human relations, marriages occur frequently. Once the business combination occurs, the assets and liabilities of the company become one. This is the same when a parent company buys a subsidiary corporation. You have noticed in your reading that intercompany transfers must be adjusted. With this in mind, please answer the following questions:

  • Why are adjustments necessary for intercompany transfers?
  • What are some ways the financials would be misstated if these intercompany transfers were not adjusted?
  • Provide an example on how a firm could manipulate the firm’s financial position and how these intercompany entries fix this problem.

In your readings on system dynamics, you have seen that in a system, different entities flow into and accumulate in stocks and then flow out, sometimes into another stock. This is similar to items in a queue or waiting line. But there are some aspects that are different from queues when comparing to system dynamics. For example, water cannot be analyzed using queuing theory, since you would have to track each molecule as you would track a person in a waiting line. Identify how queues are different than items flowing into and out of stocks as characterized by system dynamics.

Provide two specific examples of items flowing through a general system of stocks and two specific examples of items flowing into and out of a

Identify a team in which you have had many opportunities to participate, observe, and interact.

Identify a team in which you have had many opportunities to participate, observe, and interact. This team does not necessarily need to be from industry; however, please review the concepts below that you will be required to discuss prior to selecting the team you wish to cover. The list of concepts may help you select or eliminate certain teams. The team you choose should have been in existence over a reasonable period in order for you to discuss team development and to have specific examples to support your conclusions.

If you have never personally participated in a team suited for this activity, you may select a team in which you were not a member and interview two (2) or more team members. In your interviews, you should focus on each of the concepts below that will then be developed into an essay. You should not simply ask, “What type of team is this?” because many people are not familiar with the terms you have learned in this assignment. Rather, you should ask more general questions such as, “Are each of the team members in the same department, or are they in different departments? Are all members in one location? Do team members meet in person, or is their communication only via e-mail, voicemail, or teleconferencing?”

After identifying a team, write an essay describing that team with the concepts presented in Chapter 10 of the text. The objective of your essay is to demonstrate that you understand the concepts and that you can apply them to a real-world situation; therefore, you should discuss/explain each of the following five (5) concepts and then relate your team to each concept using examples. Provide three (3) examples for each concept.

  1. Type of Team: functional team, cross-functional team, self-directed team, virtual team, or global team
  2. Description of Interdependence: interdependence, pooled interdependence, sequential interdependence, or reciprocal interdependence
  3. Stages of Team Development: forming, storming, norming, performing
  4. Cohesiveness
  5. Conflict

Your Activity responses should be both grammatically and mechanically correct, and formatted in the same fashion as the Activity itself. If there is a Part A, your response should identify a Part A, etc. In addition, you must appropriately cite all resources used in your response and document in a bibliography using APA style. (150 points) (A 5-page response is required for the combination of Parts A, B, and
